@Alicejj8x Metformin does regulate cycles in many PCOS women.
A positive story for you first timers - I've known I had PCOS since I was 21. Suffered with skin, weight and hormone issues which were mainly treated with Yasmin for years.
Decided to start trying for a baby at 30, was worried about leaving it 'late' as I was told by my GP in my case to expect it to take 2 years + and to expect to need clomid or IVF. I came off the pill in the April and started on Metformin a week or so later. I had the usual gastro side effects for a few weeks which weren't great but bearable and went away once I got used to it.
I was pregnant by late June. I had a healthy complication free pregnancy (awful birth, but not PCOS related in any way) and now have a healthy, amazing 21 month old daughter who is my world.
I will never know if I was just disgustingly lucky, or if the Metformin helped me as it was so quick, I was expecting within 12 weeks of coming off the pill which is speedy even by normal standards. We're looking to TTC number 2 in the new year, so time will tell! I'm back on the Metformin (I stopped taking it when I fell pregnant in Drs advice) to manage skin and weight so hopefully it'll help if there are any ovulation issues.
Don't lose faith. It can, and does happen.
