Can I ask your advice please ladies... As I've said before I am having follicle tracking with clomid, as I don't have a cycle on my own (yeay PCOS!!) I take norethistone (progesterone meds) to bring on a bleed so that I can take the clomid for the follicle tracking scans. I've had two rounds of norethistone previously which after 5 days of three pills as per directions successfully brought on a bleed (albeit a fairly pathetic ones) after 3 days. But this third round seems not to have worked, it's been 7 days now and AF is distinctly absent. I POAS before I took the norethistone, and despite the fact that I was told by the nurses that I had no follicle growth whatsoever, I have POAS again now. Definately not pregnant, and definately no AF... I don't have another scheduled fertility specialist appointment until March, so do I just wait around for AF to turn up (or not), or should I contact my GP (who I have not seen since my original referral to the fertility and PCOS clinics)??? WWYD?? Help!

That's good news sunny and I'm glad the pains haven't come back. Keep a positive mind and have a relaxing weekend Smile Yep testing first thing eek.

mermaidtail give it a little longer and if it still doesn't show up then I would visit your gp. They will be able to advise. My gp has given me norethisterone before. My bleeds on nore were the same each time but I think it can take up to 14 days to get a bleed

MermaidTail7 · 12/01/2018 21:42

Thank you SLady x

littleemma1 · 12/01/2018 21:44

Mermaid I always have to take noretiserone for 14 days just to get a 3 day bleed from it and it takes 5 days to appear 🤔
Could just be your body being awkward!

SLady · 13/01/2018 08:28

I think I've got my bfp!!!! I can't believe it!!

Thanks so much ladies. I'm in shock! The line is a bit fainter than I'd like, is that okay? We're going to go and get some clear blue ones, going to buy one of each test and do them all haha

Alicejj8x · 13/01/2018 10:00

Congrats slady!
So happy for you xxxxx

Alicejj8x · 13/01/2018 10:03

So lovely to hear your positive story Slady!

So was you on metformin? Do you have pcos? Sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up on all the comments

You was on that tablet to help bring on the period northerstone? I defo spelt that wrong but hopefully you no what I mean lol! I was on that for a while and it did help but never helped regulate my cycles.
I'm on metformin and hopefully if i don't get my BFP which I doubt with metformin in Feb I'll have AF with the help of the metformin. I then start on Clomid but what will I get given to bring on a bleed?

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 13/01/2018 11:30

Aww wow SLady, congratulations! That looks like a strong positive to me!

littleemma1 · 13/01/2018 13:00

Aw @slady congratulations!!! 🎉💐

SLady · 13/01/2018 18:47

Thank you so much everyone! I went out and bought a few more tests and did them all Grin

Hi alice I have PCOS yes. I never tried metformin but I was prescribed Clomid and sometimes norethisterone whenever I needed to induce a period. I did two rounds of 50mg and two rounds of 100mg and both blood tests showed progesterone lower than 1 I.e. it didn't have any effect whatsoever. I was upped to the strongest dose 150mg which made me ovulate and I got my bfp on my second go of 150mg (6th Clomid round overall) so I guess the moral of my story is don't give up. I totally gave up with Clomid thinking it wasn't doing anything for me and I really believed 150mg wouldn't work either and it did! x

ElizabethCatherine · 13/01/2018 19:34

LADIES!!!! I needed to jump back on here and say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to @sunny1984 and @slady !!!! You women are absolute warriors and its so incredible to see such great success with Clomid. You deserve those BFP and I hope you enjoy every minute of it. I am so so happy for the two of you it makes my heart so full. A big welcome to all the newbies!!! I am going to not be on mumsnet anymore as I have now created an instagram account for my journey but I would love to keep connecting with all of you other there

SLady · 14/01/2018 07:53

Big big love to you @elizabethcatherine. Excited to continue to follow your amazing journey on insta 💪😘 XXX

SLady · 14/01/2018 08:07

Will definitely be popping on from time to time, I'm supporting you all and want to see all your bfps and am always happy to share and give my experiences if it helps. Baby dust to you all xxx

P.s. I used the FRER test first off and I expected the line to be darker. I've since done 3 more tests (LOL) and the Superdrug early response own brand was much better than the FRER so save your money ladies!

MermaidTail7 · 14/01/2018 08:38

Thanks for the tip SLady!! I'm pleased to say that you and Littleemma1 were right about being patient for AF, as she has turned up this morning- which means I can get I to my next upped dose of clomid... Fingers crossed the 150mg works for me too SLady!

SLady · 14/01/2018 09:08

I'm pleased AF turned up Mermaidtail I've got everything crossed for you that the 150mg does the trick!

Alicejj8x · 14/01/2018 10:33

Ahh that's such a good poSitive story thank you SLady!

I shall not give up till I've got my BFP :)
I haven't started Clomid yet just metformin so need to wait and see if AF comes next month as to wether or not the metformin has helped with regulating period.
I then go on Clomid and follicle tracking

How often do you have to go for scans for the follicle tracking? And when you start Clomid do you have the tracking done straight away or only if the Clomid hasn't been successful?

SoapyChoc · 14/01/2018 11:20

Congratulations SLady such exciting news. Smile

SLady · 14/01/2018 18:14

Thank you soapychoc!

I wasn't monitored alice and every clinic is different but usually you'll have an ultrasound cd10 and depending on follicle size might have another one a few days later and then a blood test cd21 to check whether ovulation occurred or not. If you had no follie growth at cd10 they would probably cancel that cycle and give you norethisterone and up the dose next time

MermaidTail7 · 14/01/2018 18:41

SLady is right Alice, every clinic is different. My general pattern is norethistone to bring on AF, then the prescribed dose of clomid on days 2 through to 6 of the cycle. I have an internal transvaginal scan on around CD4/5 to check that AF has done her thing in terms of clearing the womb lining fully, then again on CD10, CD17 and CD21 to check follicle growth. To date my clomid doses haven't caused any follicle growth, so at that point I am advised to wait until CD32 then take noerithestone and start again. I assume that should I get any viable follicle growth it move to blood tests to check hormone levels for actual ovulation like SLady had before her BFP xx

HollyWollyDooDah · 14/01/2018 18:56

Congratulations SLady! X
