After 5 years of secondary infertility we are at the start of our first IVF cycle. Nervous and a little bit excited at the same time. Will start buserlin this evening. Anyone else due to start?

So in that case do they know that it's an egg issue rather than a sperm issue?

It's too soon to think about the next steps, so I hope you are being kind to yourself and that the Easter egg has been demolished!

LittlePoot · 07/04/2016 14:45

I guess we don't know for sure it's eggs not sperm - just that its known to be more likely to be that way round. I'll have a follow up with the consultant at some point so I guess that's one thing to check. The egg was quite big and seems to have defeated me for now (round 2 later....). Weirdly I'm thinking of going for a run. Haven't been for such a long time and it feels a bit more useful than sitting here bingeing on chocolate and E4..... We'll see. One of the nurses at my clinic that I've dealt with quite a bit just called to see how I'm doing and was very sweet. Not much to say though really is there. Its just shit whichever way you look at it. I really really hope you both have better results!!! xxx

LemonadeGirl08 · 07/04/2016 15:33

How sweet of the nurse, but as you say it's an utterly shit situation. I hope the consultant will be able to shed some light on it for you. If you feel like running and not moping about that's amazing it will prob make you feel much better too xx

tillyann2013 · 08/04/2016 06:36

Hi, thinking of you littlepoot. How are you feeling?? Xxx

OP posts:
LittlePoot · 08/04/2016 06:49

Thanks Tilly. Actually, I'm not feeling too bad right now. I'm keeping busy and getting ready for a trip to nana's house for the weekend. She doesn't know any of this has been going on so basically I'm just not going to be thinking about it much and can deal with it slowly that way. I'm getting occasional waves of gutted, but mostly just plodding on.

But what about you guys? Hope the bloating and discomfort is settling down. When are your next phone calls due? Will you get any more updates before day 5? Hope all is going well.

tillyann2013 · 08/04/2016 06:59

Good, pleased you have something to take your mind off things. When is your husband due back? Hope it's suit for you for a little support.

We will either do a 3dt or blast all being well. If we don't hear from clinic we will go in for 1.20 tomorrow. If they ring it means they're taking them to blastocyst.

LemonadeGirl08 · 08/04/2016 15:17

Glad to hear your feeling ok Littlepoot, keeping busy sounds like a good plan. Hope your husband is back soon to help out a bit.

Tilly- good luck tomorrow with Embryo transfer or taking them to blastocyst, so exciting!

Nothing to report my end still feeling a bit bloated but it's mostly gone down, the OHSS drugs are making me incredibly drowsy so I'm having very early nights and naps!
My clinic won't call unless they don't think we can do a day 5 transfer. Today is our day three so fingers crossed I don't hear from them and I'm still on for a transfer on Sunday!

LittlePoot · 08/04/2016 19:42

Great your bloating is almost gone lemonade. How long do you have to keep taking the drugs? Any word from either of your clinics? Otherwise we have a transfer tomorrow and another on Sunday? Exciting times. Xx

tillyann2013 · 09/04/2016 09:15

Morning girls, how are you both?

Just had the call from the embryologist, we have 3 strong embies and 3 a bit smaller. All being well we will transfer the 2 best ones on Monday morning. X

LemonadeGirl08 · 09/04/2016 15:22

Fab news Tilly! I haven't heard from my clinic since Wednesday so I'm assuming no news is good news!

Little- hope you having a good weekend at your Nans and it's taking your mind off things.

LittlePoot · 09/04/2016 17:51

Sounds great all round guys. Fingers crossed they keep growing strongly and they transfer you some good ones over the next couple of days. I've been using distraction as a useful tool over the weekend. Lovely day out today with my lovely little boy cycling like a loony down muddy hills. Lemonade - I really hope it's not long before you can say the same. xx

LemonadeGirl08 · 10/04/2016 09:15

Thanks Littlepoot, sounds like you've had a lovely weekend! Just waiting to go in to the hospital, hardly slept last night I'm so nervous!

tillyann2013 · 10/04/2016 10:18

Good luck lemonade, hope it all goes well.

Littlepoot hope you're doing okay. Xxx

LittlePoot · 10/04/2016 13:29

Lemonade!!! How did it go?? I so hope all is well and you have a potential new person on board???

LemonadeGirl08 · 10/04/2016 15:42

I'm pleased to say I have an embryo on board! It went really smoothly just very crampy after but that has subsided now and I'm on the sofa eating! I was quite emotional during and after maybe because I was alone- Annoyingly my boyfriend couldn't come as he's away with work for the next 10days- awful timing! But I'm just feeling so grateful we've got this far!

They are calling me tomorrow with how many of the remaining embryos we can freeze, at the moment it looks like there will be 3.

Hope you're both enjoying your Sunday's!

LittlePoot · 10/04/2016 15:59

That's fantastic!!! Congratulations. And amazing if you can get three back ups in the freezer as well. I think you can reasonably spend the next week and a half on the sofa eating can't you?! Until the test is due at least. Amazing news - I'm really chuffed for you. Fingers crossed for a repeat tomorrow for Tilly. xx

tillyann2013 · 10/04/2016 19:54

Ah great news, congratulations lemonade. How was it? I'm getting nervous again. Are you supposed to rest up for the rest of the day? We've been walking an average of about 15000 steps a day around London. Not sure if that's wise after my appointment.

OP posts:
LemonadeGirl08 · 10/04/2016 21:11

Thanks guys!

The actual procedure was uncomfortable but for me the cramps after were worst. They told me to take it very easy for the next few days so you might have to ease off on the walking Tilly! Good luck for tomorrow!

tillyann2013 · 11/04/2016 11:44

All done here too, we had one grade b embryo make it to the final hurdle so just a waiting game now. Hope you're both doing okay x

LemonadeGirl08 · 11/04/2016 11:56

Brilliant news Tilly! Hope your feeling ok and managing to get some rest. When are you heading back home?

Little when is your follow up appointment with the consultant?

LittlePoot · 11/04/2016 13:57

Great news Tilly. Fingers crossed for you both - another horrendous wait. I'm not doing so well today - not sure why but I've crashed a bit. Probably just hormones as presumably I'm due on in a couple of days. I need to phone and arrange my follow up appointment. It probably won't be for weeks - the consultant's diary is always so busy. Not sure how much use it will be this time - I have no idea whether we'd go for it again or not. Anyway - plenty of time to worry about that. You girls rest up and keep cooking those embryos. Xxx

LemonadeGirl08 · 11/04/2016 17:17

Sorry to hear your feeling down Littlepoot, it is completely understandable given all that you have been through. And hyper hormones never help! I hope you don't think I'm being rude but you mentioned that you get free counselling sessions at your clinic, do you think it would help to see her, or is it too raw now? Hope your feeling better X

LittlePoot · 11/04/2016 18:58

Not rude at all lemonade! Its so nice to have you two to talk to through all this and you're right that the counselling sessions will be really useful. I'm back at work tomorrow and have a bitch of a week ahead (not helped by all the time off I've had to have for appointments) so I reckon after that I should go and see her again. I'm wondering if dh should come too, but we haven't really talked about it yet. Problem is, what I really want is a miracle answer and I know that's not going to come. People are having babies all over the place all the time - it just shouldn't be this difficult!!

tillyann2013 · 12/04/2016 19:17

Hi girls, hope work wasn't too bad today littlepoot.

Home sweet home and absolutely shattered. Will be having an early one tonight for sure.

Hope you're both doing alright x

OP posts:
LemonadeGirl08 · 13/04/2016 20:11

Glad your feeling ok and back home now Tilly!

Littlepoot I think seeing the counseller with your DH would be really helpful. It would be for me anyway as we don't talk much about ivf and I think he especially doesn't want to bring things up as doesn't want to upset me, but I'd rather he just spoke about it!

No idea how some people get pregnant so easily or worse by accident! Also why am I now torturing myself by watching one born every minute?!
