After 5 years of secondary infertility we are at the start of our first IVF cycle. Nervous and a little bit excited at the same time. Will start buserlin this evening. Anyone else due to start?

Feeling much better today, good nights sleep does wonders. How are you doing girls?

I haven't really had the knackered thing but I swear I've put on about three kilos overnight! I'm so bloated. I'm going to have to do something about it somehow because I remember my stomach swelling up last time when I was stimulating. At this rate I'll look like I'm about to give birth, which I could do without. They've upped my drugs a bit for stimulation this time so I imagine it'll be worse. I think drinking more water might be the only thing I can do. Glad you're feeling a bit brighter today tilly.

tillyann2013 · 12/03/2016 20:29

Oh really, haven't had any bloating yet but it's probably on its way. Been a bit weepy and generally feeling sorry for myself the last few days but it seems to have passed ..... for now I guess.
Had a nice day today out in the sunshine which generally lifts the mood any way doesn't it?
I'm trying to eat as healthily as I can and have upped my water intake too. What's the thoughts on alcohol during downreg? Is it a no no? Would usually be having a couple glasses on a sat night but I've refrained today. Would love one though!

I've been told to keep off the booze but as you can see, my dietary advice in general has been pretty extreme. Saying that though, I figure its only a few weeks so probably worth the sacrifice....

LemonadeGirl08 · 13/03/2016 00:35

Glad your feeling better Tillyann! The sunshine does make everything seem better- let hope we have a bit more of it!

Bloating sounds Rubbish! Thankfully I haven't had any yet but I'm sure it's coming! I have been moody and weepy and quite argumentative so all in all I'm a real treat to be around!
I was wondering about booze too. So far I haven't had any but I wouldn't think a glass or two would hurt especially at this stage. I'm trying to avoid it if possible though. The only problem is I've got a few things coming up in early April where it's going to be weird (will raise questions) if I don't drink and I am worrying about making up excuses - I'm a crap liar! Any one got any good ones?
I also think I'm turning in to a recluse as I'm avoiding seeing people until this is over. Have you guys told people?

Hope your all having a good weekend! X

tillyann2013 · 13/03/2016 08:35

Another sunny morning, yay! I love springtime.
I've dove 5 injections now and they seem to be getting easier, thank goodness. No more stinging or bruising.
We haven't told anyone either apart from my brother who will look after our son for the day of egg collection. I just don't think I'd like anyone else to know and couldn't face the questions or added pressure. My husband wanted to tell his mum but I know she can't hold her water and didn't want to be the topic of conversation within the family so we haven't said.
As for the no drinking, I tend to drive quite a lot now so people have stopped asking questions. The worst thing though is people assuming you are pregnant and you see these knowing nods and glances and you think if only you flipping knew!

OP posts:
tillyann2013 · 13/03/2016 08:39

Sorry, meant to say could you say that you have something important on the following day and you don't want to feel rough? Or could you say that you have a massive hangover and couldn't possibly face another drink? Failing that, the old faithful antibiotic? Metronidazole is the one that you really can't drink with and is used mostly for dental pain. Can you tell I've been doing this for a while!

OP posts:
LittlePoot · 13/03/2016 09:57

Driving is a great reason not to drink if you can drive without it looking too weird. The too hungover to drink excuse is another good one. Otherwise, I have been to bars and asked for appetiser in a prosecco glass or a lime and soda to look like it has vodka added and then just sip slowly.... I have now told a few people but I'm finding I'm just keeping away from people instead until it's all done. Turning into a right hermit!

LittlePoot · 13/03/2016 10:03

Ha - appletiser obvs, not appetiser. Food in a glass might not be the best way to avoid suspicion.

LemonadeGirl08 · 13/03/2016 11:28

Thanks for the ideas ladies I think I'll be using them all at some point! I love the appletiser in a prosecco glass-very sneaky! And I think I can blame a lot on wisdom teeth.
People jumping to the conclusion that your not drinking because your pregnant is the worst! And some people are so unsubtle about it! I tend to always have a glass of wine in my hand it's like a sign saying "NO I'm STILL not pregnant!!"

I've told my Mum Sister and best friend so I have people to talk to there are a few people I feel I should tell but I just can't face I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with hermit like tendency's- I just can't wait till this is all over!

tillyann2013 · 14/03/2016 22:51

So, one week down and all going well. How are you?

OP posts:
LittlePoot · 15/03/2016 06:42

Good stuff Tilly. Any word from your clinic on when you go for a scan or possible dates for next steps? All ok here. Bloating has settled a bit after a couple of days of being more careful what I eat but I'm getting hot flushes now, especially at night. I just came on yesterday too which was a bit of a surprise. Last time it was over a week after coming off the pill but this time only a couple of days. I wonder if that means anything?! Looking at my probable dates, egg collection is going to be in the easter holidays then if I do make it to embryo transfer its likely to be when my dh is off on a business trip. Its going to be tough to juggle childcare. Did you say you'll have to travel to your clinic? What will you do with your little one?

tillyann2013 · 15/03/2016 06:57

I haven't heard a thing from the clinic, not sure if that's normal or what? I might just give them a ring for peace of mind.
Good to hear the bloating has passed, I've had a few little flushes, they're horrible!
Will everything still go to plan if it falls over the Easter hols? It wouldn't here, the clinic closes for a few days which is ridiculous if you ask me! I'm hoping mine will fall after otherwise it's been a waste of time.
I love living here (jersey) but sometimes it's frustrating. We've got to travel to London and prob for about a week. Our son is coming with us and then my bro will have him for the ec day as he lives in UK. It's tricky to juggle it all, wish we could have it here. Would be so much easier and we wouldn't be spending another grand on travel and accommodation!

OP posts:
LemonadeGirl08 · 15/03/2016 11:57

Glad to hear everyone is doing well! It does sound difficult to manage Childcare on top of everything else!

Tilly will you have to come to London for every scan? Fingers crossed for you it's not going to fall over Easter!

I've still not started my period 2 days late- for the first time in years I'm wishing for it to hurry up an get here?

Do either of you know when you'll start stimming?

tillyann2013 · 15/03/2016 12:24

No thankfully the scans will all be done here. As far as I know we do the trigger here too and then fly the next day. Yikes! Anyone know of any cheap accommodation in London?

OP posts:
LemonadeGirl08 · 15/03/2016 12:54

Oh good-I was thinking you'd be flying back and forth a lot!
I'm not sure about accommodation but AirB&B often have good cheap options haven't used it in London but have used it lots for other cities and it's always come in much cheaper that hotels!

tillyann2013 · 15/03/2016 13:44

Yes I was thinking airbnb might be our best bet, they say we need to be there for at least a week. I wish I knew dates so I could just get booking and planning. Not very good just being in limbo.

OP posts:
LemonadeGirl08 · 15/03/2016 16:14

Yes you must want to get all the travel arrangement's sorted so you can just concentrate on the treatment! Do you know how long you'll be deregging for?

tillyann2013 · 16/03/2016 07:07

I had almost 2 hours of reflexology last night, it was lovely. So relaxing! I slept so well, was totally needed. Would def recommend. Unfortunately the girl is going on holiday tomorrow and not back to the 5th. :(

OP posts:
LemonadeGirl08 · 16/03/2016 19:54

Sounds lovely! This no I might treat myself to something like that at the weekend!

LittlePoot · 16/03/2016 22:06

Sounds lush you lucky thing! I could do with some of that as well. I'm just knackered, hot and sweaty with a headache!! Please let this all be worth it....

LittlePoot · 18/03/2016 06:43

Off for my downregulation scan and blood test this morning so hopefully I'll find out when I start stimulation. I'm also having a counseling session which I'm not particularly looking forward to. I'm doing an excellent job at the moment of being too busy to think about what is going on and was hoping to keep that up....

tillyann2013 · 18/03/2016 06:55

Oh good luck littlepoot, let us know how you get on. Everything crossed you can start stimming. How many days dr have you done then? Has af started?

Hope the counselling session goes well too x

OP posts:
LittlePoot · 18/03/2016 09:17

I've done 11 injections so far (so today is day 12) and af came Monday. Which was a bit unexpected! Weirdly though, its exactly the day I'd have been due if I hadn't had 5 odd weeks on the pill, as if the pill made no difference whatsoever. Have you called yours to try and get some info yet?

LemonadeGirl08 · 18/03/2016 09:34

Good luck with the Scan and counseling session Littlepoot!
