duggs Hope today went as well as possible.

Yes buzzy, the consultant almost straight away found some tissue still there (why didn't the sonographer find this three weeks ago?) and suggested I have the 'hysteroscopic guided resection' surgery - which apparently is what we'd call a surgical hysteroscopy. So I'm having that tomorrow, only appt free in two weeks! Another GA, marvellous. At least it should then be done with, and without scarring this time (I hope!).

What a PITA Ari, I really feel for you to have thus dragging on so long! Hopefully after this af will get back to normal quickly for you.

Hope you are doing ok Duggs.

Duggs, I did the same after my ERPC/GA and I lived! My genetic results took even longer than 6 weeks, about 8, so it's almost best to try to forget about them if you can (impossible, I know). Then when I got them, and there was something to tell, it was a bonus. No reason why you can't get a decent result with a foetus of that size, but I'd heard so many stories of results being lost/inconclusive, etc. that it's wise not to pin your hopes on it.
Ari, very frustrating but at least you know now and it's going to be sorted. It could have gone on for so much longer if you hadn't inquired.

ari its frustrating for you and this seems to have been going on for so long for you

sorry about the cluster post, I was obviously getting annoyed at how long it was taking to post Hmm

duggs Go for it in the choc and booze front, why the heck not! I would, except the GA has left me feeling lousy - funny the one in Athens left me feeling absolutely fine and raring to go while the ones at my hospital here leave me feeling terrible. Hmmm.

So duggs you and I have had our cycles inadvertently synced then :) Hope you're doing ok, or as ok as you can be. Interestingly my hospital told me they don't call it an ERPC anymore as they did a survey of women who have had it and all of them said (as I did to the hospital previously) that it's an absolutely horrid term. Can't remember what it's been renamed to, but it was a whole lot more sensitive and was the name most suggested by the survey, apparently. Well done to the hospital for actually listening to their patients. Now if only they'd move the EPU waiting area away from the main pregnancy clinic, then they'd truly be listening to us ...

/waves to everyone, hope you're all doing good.

Glad it's over and done with for you Ari and you can now hopefully move forward at last.

Thinking of both you and Duggs.

Surgical management of miscarriage, I think, Ari. Yes, I thought it was ironic that I had always objected to the term ERPC, but now that they've changed it, ERPC still just trips off my lips automatically.
You probably had two different anaesthetics, which have quite different effects. I woke up right as rain from my ERPC in April, while after my lap and dye in January, it felt like I was in and out of a coma all afternoon, nearly choked to death on my sandwich and eventually, as they were very keen to throw us all out, my DH had to take me away in a wheelchair. I also felt very sick. When I queried it, they said they have different anaesthetics for different procedures.
Glad it's all sorted though and hope you feel better soon.
I'm with you with the waiting room business. They have in our new hospital. It used to be dire.

That's the term brown - you were obviously paying more attention than I was! :)

Interesting on the anaesthetics, I think you're probably right. I did actually mention to the anaesthetist when she came to see me pre-op that the last ERPC I had, the GA left me feeling horrible for a couple of days whereas the one before didn't. She looked up in my notes what I'd had previously and said, oh it's just the standard medication. Obviously gave me the same stuff - and sure enough, I still feel lousy. Actually called in sick today, I never do that! Spending my time productively, I just bought myself a juicer, gonna make me some healthy juices (love Jason Vale, he's a hoot!). Well, either that or it will end up sitting in a cupboard somewhere after a couple of very enthusiastic weeks. :) :)

You say they've moved the EPU in your new hospital? Well hooray and hallelujah for a hospital with common sense!

How are you doing brown, what are the ov sticks doing? I shall be monitoring my ov this month, hopefully my body will do what it's done after my two ERPCs and kick back into normal cycle pretty much straight away.

/waves to everyone

Yes, the new hospital has EPU on the 3rd floor while the usual pregnancy scans are done in Women's and Children's on the ground floor. You wouldn't even meet people coming out with their lovely scan photos. On the other hand, the fertility clinic is still part of Women's and Children's, so I've had to sit next to giant bumps all the while I thought my ancient womb was gathering cobwebs. At least I've now progressed to miscarriage and the third floor!
The ov sticks are now back down to nowhere-near positive and I definitely didn't ovulate after the row of strong lines. I stopped taking the new DHEA I was taking for one day, and then resumed the old DHEA I used to take (which involves cutting 25mg tablets roughly in half, which is why I ordered some 10mg from a different company in the first place). Whether it was dodgy DHEA and whether stopping taking it would have an immediate effect, I don't know; it might be coincidence. I'm day 14 now and last month I was gearing up for ovulation by this point, so things are obviously delayed. It's annoying, because it means we have to keep on doing it every day, and I don't want to wear my DH out before the vital couple of days! I've ordered him some FertilAid, but that hasn't come yet.
So which sticks do you use? Smiley faces?

Report
Arianrhod · 13/09/2013 13:20

:) to wearing your DH out! Aren't they supposed to do their thang every 2 to 3 days anyway, to keep the supply fresh? Grin

If I'm seriously tracking OV then I'm a bit obsessive, I use my Clearblue Fertility monitor AND smilie face OPKs, monitor first thing in the morning and OPK about 6pm since I found I seem to get my surge after 3-4pm. However, as I'm not tracking it for DTD now, just to see how my cycle is going, I will just use the CBFM this month.

Report
brownstag · 13/09/2013 15:14

You're right about doing it every 2 to 3 days, but I'm just going by how I got pregnant the 2 times this year, where we had sex every day for 4 days up to and including the day of ovulation.
I've also found since the last miscarriage that my surge has changed from morning to evening, so I'm checking (at the very least Grin) twice a day.

We conceived this time by dtd every day when we were in turkey. That wasnt to get pregnant though as i had begun to think it would never happen. I know I ovulated there but not sure of which day. We normally try every other day and that has worked in the past. Didnt even bother keeping my legs in the air for 15 mins afterwards but went straight to sleep. It used to drive me mad having to do that when we were TTC and DH was asleep beside me!

I think that unless your DH has a low sperm count the more often you do it around OV the better.

Report
brownstag · 14/09/2013 08:11

I agree, Sue. My theory is that, past 40, doing it on the day of ovulation is vital. Really good news about the line getting darker. How many dpo/weeks are you now?
Mel, perhaps I should clarify. When I said we did it for 4 days until ovulation, they were the ONLY days we DTD that month! I immediately shut up shop after ovulation. No point in wasting energy after that! Grin Actually, we have been attempting to do it more normally, recreationally, so to speak, this month. Well, that's what I'm telling myself but I suppose I am always secretly thinking of that elusive egg ...

Mel3062 · 14/09/2013 08:40

Yes I guess I could be! I think hubby was away on ovu day- the one predicted on my calendar anyway! Who knows, managed day before and day after anyway.
I'm day 24 today and last month af was early on day 25 so not going to test. Only started pred mon I've been delaying that too just incase I ovu late x
