Just "copy" your link, then type and then paste it in,followed by Occasionally it goes wrong if you leave a space etc.

It explains how to do the links after the Smileys bit,to the right of the new message box.

Meglet · 05/04/2009 22:36

I hope the press don't go in and tear this story apart and sensationalise it. Whatever has happened the police and authorities need to keep it under control. There's 4 families involved in this .

I hope both the boys recover very soon.

edam · 05/04/2009 22:57

That is truly shocking. Poor mites.

InTheScrum · 05/04/2009 23:02

That is disgusting.
I feel sick.
Reminds me of the poor Bulger boy.

Both the accused boys are over the age of criminal responsibiltiy, however they are still very young. I think its right that they are allowed their anominity, even if they are convicted at a later stage.

I am unsure what is best to do with young boys who commit attrocious crimes. Certainly in many countries they would be below the age of criminal responsiblity. What is important is that they are tried and if convicted, punished as children. Also any jail sentence that they are given is not dictated by media.

If the accused boys are convicted of these crimes, I am not sure what should be done with them. Prehaps those with parental responsiblity should be in the dock facing criminal charges as well. I am not sure jail is the best place for children. Or whether a secure residental severe EBD school where the children could be helped would be better.

ilovesprouts · 06/04/2009 09:58

ITS VERY SAD

Nancy66 · 06/04/2009 10:13

very disturbing - reminds me of the Jamie Bulger case too.

beanieb · 06/04/2009 11:31

I just hope the two perpetrators are not dealt with like the poor kids in the Jamie Bulger case. Someone or some people must have let these kids down very badly for them to behave like this. With a bit of luck they will get professional help and care and if they have any siblings I really hope that their parents are investigated.

Sad of course for the two poor children who have been attacked. What a sad sad situation all round

Nancy66 · 06/04/2009 11:34

I agree beanie - i remember the lynch mobs outside the police stations when Venables and Thompson were charged with the Bulger murder.

beanieb · 06/04/2009 11:40

it's just going to be horrible isn't it? All the tabloid coverage. Are there any laws in place to protect people from the press when things like this happen.

2shoestrodonalltheeggs · 06/04/2009 11:43

I hope the victims in this(the boys that have been hurt) make a speedy recovery and get all the help they need,

TheMightyBoosh · 06/04/2009 11:45

'can you imagine if you found out your child had done that?' Yes

yes those kids must have been letdown (wasnt the age of criminal resp dropped esepcially for the Bulger case? awful IMO, my 9 year old is so close to tena nd so far away from adulthood).

Either they have had terrible parenting / world experiences that have massively damaged them, or they have SN which has failed to be addressed (my son has aggressive SN but as a result is supported and not allowed out unsuprevised ever). Either way I think its possible that they are also victims, just less directly. I seriously worry they are going to be scapegoated for the whol 'terrible children n our society' thing though .

My sympathies are with the fmillies of the victims, I hope they recover well and get the support they need. My prayers are with everyone involved.

Nancy66 · 06/04/2009 11:46

At least nobody has died - so that might make the baying masses less blood thirsty.

the boys identies will probably not be revealed.

noddyholder · 06/04/2009 13:48

What a nightmare What sort of home life must these two boys have had to make them so dismissive of life. They must feel pretty worthless to have to humiliate and attack 2 others like that.I too hope this doesn't go the way of the JB case That was not handled well at all

iris66 · 06/04/2009 13:53

wish I hadn't read this thread/looked at the link .
My heart goes out to everyone involved. To be so damaged by your life that you are capable of this kind of behaviour is as tragic as being on the receiving end I just hope that everyone gets proper support and couselling.

mamadiva · 06/04/2009 18:16

Heard about this today and the first thing that came into my head was the James Bulger case, must be bringing back horrid memories for his family

I hope the 2 injured boys make it through this and I hope that those other thugs get what they need not for them but to ensure the safety of other children around them if they can do that at this age what will they do when they are older if this is'nt handled right?

Agreed though that parenting is probably behind it so investigations all round to sort this out now before something else happens.

I do think they should be locked up though kids need to learn if you do wrong you have to pay for it and the cushty life that JV and RT apparently got are not the way to go IMO. I'm not saying jail is the an swer but a secure unit for quite a while and without playstations and all that crap.

QuantitativeMeasure · 06/04/2009 19:44

This made me feel ill.

Those poor boys must have been terrified.

Reallytired · 06/04/2009 19:47

I don't think tha John Venerables and Robert T had that cushty life. They lost their teenage years and quite rightly so. However with sentencing you have to take into account their age. It is not reasonable to treat them as adults.

mamadiva, what would you have done to boys?

I know that some brain dead sun readers want the boys executed. However would that have brought back Jamie Bulger.

I have no idea whether children in young offenders insitutions have access to play stations or not. I suppose there has to be some rewards for good behaviour. The punishment of a secure unit is lack of freedom, rather than being on bread and water.

I would prefer that these boys if guilty were educated in a very secure EBD boarding school. Ie. unlike a jail they would have supervised trips out so that they can learn life skills like shopping and get an appriopate education and learn social skills. I think this would be hard if the boys were completely insitutionalised like a jail.

I would also be concerned at 9 year old boys mixing with 17 year olds. They need an education with their age group.

Maybe I am soft, but I think that nine years old is too young to throw away the key completely in Myra Hindley style. What is needed is a judge to decide what to do with the boys rather than trial by sun/ mumsnet.

TheMightyBoosh · 06/04/2009 19:50

Mamma do you have inside info on what the Bulger murderers fot then?because I thought it was secret

I don't think that being locked up makes anything but the situation worse; you put them in a unit and they learn skills from other more experienced (possible, who knows their background?) young criminals....... it has to be decided by a specialist team what they need bearing in mind any history that may or may not exist, psychiatric evaluation, detauiled exploration of WTF has gone wrong to turn out kids so feral..... if it turned out they were first time offenders orphaned six weeks ago in a horrific car crash the appropriate scenario would be vastly different than if they have been offending since the age of 2 and even the police visit the place where they live with their crack dealer parents in teams of seven...... relaity is no doubt somewhere between that but it has to fit the case facts rather than be generic.

I bet that didn't make a word of sense
