Hi, to make it easier for people who are finding this subject very distressing, we're going to keep all Baby P posts in one thread. If you'd like to discuss this subject, then here is the thread to do so. We'll go on the other threads and link to this one. Thanks very much.

The Sun needs to be stopped, this poor child needs be remembered as the beautiful blue eye, blonde curly lock child he was, not for the hideous abuse.

What do they think they will achieve by telling us about all of what he went through?

As Greataunt said, children are finding out the details and its upsetting and frightening.

Please Sun, give this darling child some dignity and stop with the details.

I've just read that the Haringey community have put a sign up saying they refuse to pay council tax till that Sharon woman is sacked.

jajas you make an interesting point actually if you were trying to hide something you wouldn't go to the hospital. The thing that makes me think she didn't care though is the fact that her baby has died and she hasn't cried once. Maybe she's just dead inside and it hasn't hit home yet but if you were trying to get your baby saved and it died. You'd cry surely?

mamadiva · 17/11/2008 23:13

I wondered that too but then I thought maybe it was to keep up the caring front, if she took him and explained the injury then surely no one would expect her to be abusing him.

The mother actually pleaded guilty to causing/allowing his death but wouldn't say which she was guilty of, and she was seen sniggering wen they were reading out his injuries

Yeah alot of the things she did were very intelligent and by the sounds out of it she was very manipulative.

The authorities didnt know that anyone else was living with her they thought it was just her and her 4 kids.

LuckySalem · 17/11/2008 23:22

Also why was an apparent peadophile being allowed to live with a 15yr old girl and his 5 kids?! Sorry but peadophiles should not be allowed to socialise with ANY children even their own!

mamadiva · 17/11/2008 23:24

Chrysanthamum I read the details but only because for some reason I find it helps me understand a bit more, I know why people read and why people dont read.

The article above is actually one of the best ones to read as it not done in a sensationalist way as said its done from an understanding POV.

All the details in this case are harrowing but once you have read them you do get over the initial shock and start to think more clearly about things.

Sorry if that sounds horrid but just my logic

bb99 · 17/11/2008 23:30

MollieO - disagree on the reduction in the burden of proof.

Look at the caring mothers who have been convicted of child abuse RE: sudden infant death syndrome vrs shaken baby syndrome, where there have been genetic pre-dispositions to cot death and mothers HAVE been wrongly convicted and then released, with all charges quashed.

Maybe we all need to become a bit more integrated as a society. I know when my ma was small you knew what most people were getting up to indoors. Perhaps we need to get a bit more open and honest with each other and get to know our neighbours again, instead of just relying on the state to solve all.

I am starting to think that child abuse like this is a type of (so far) un identified mental illness. What else could explain doing this to your own genetic heritage?

The thing that is starting to shake DH and I is that we just don't recall this number of cases hitting the news when we were younger. I can recall off the top of my head two cases where the children were STARVED to death and now this, just in the last year. We don't know if more cases are just hitting the news and that there has always been this under current of utter degredation and madness, which I have been sheltered from, or if things are getting 'worse'.

I know that stranger danger has NOT increased since I was a child, despite it regularly feasturing on the news. I don't recall any cases of abuse or neglect being newsworthy when I was a kid, although I know lots of kids were fostered and in care when at that time IYSWIM.

Is there MORE of it? Or are we all just becoming MORE aware?

MollieO · 17/11/2008 23:38

No I think you misunderstood me bb99 I don't advocate a reduction in the bofp at all. It is something I did think about but agree it is not the answer. What needs to happen is what was supposed to happen as the list of outcomes from the VC public enquiry and clearly haven't. The longest time this child didn't see a health professional in the last 8 months of his life was 10 days so no excuse there for them not spotting what was going on. Problem was a number of different professionals involved and not one of them had the full picture as far as we can tell.

As for it being new, well no - Maria Colwell 35 yrs ago. The difference now is access to the media because of internet, 24 hour news etc.

Dittany - Thats my point. How was he being able to live there with a 15yr old girl and FIVE chilren?!! There is another failure in the SS's care. Whether they knew he was there or not they should have kept better tabs on him.

Chrysanthamum · 17/11/2008 23:46

Good article Mollieo.
So at one point she seemed to be leading a normal life with kids/husband. How can things go so horribly wrong? Obviously when the nazi boyfriend came on the scene it turned nasty, but its hard to believe that she'd let this happen if she already had three girls that were apparently just a bit unkempt/unhygienic.
I've read articles where friends of hers have commented. Hard to believe she'd have friends and if so, was she concealing her partner/lodger/kids/dog/alsation/snake/stinking house from them too?

It must be some form of mental illness. I dont think stranger danger is necessarily worse now, we just hear more about it.

I'm afraid same as "the girlfriends" father. What is he doing allowing his daughter so see such an older man?! Admittingly he may not have known he was a peadophile but he must have known how old he was?

Also - If you have to be on the sex offenders register then how do we find out the names of these sex offenders?

mamadiva · 17/11/2008 23:49

He wasnt a registered peadophile though he is being called a peadophile because of the 15YO.

Rightly so but still it was BabyP's cousin or summit who was a registered peado.

LuckySalem · 17/11/2008 23:50

Ah right - I thought he was a registered one - fair enough.

I doubt, mamadiva and the rest of you freaks, that you have ever heard of Stefan Kisko. He was a sweet, gentle, vulnerable man with a genetic condition and learning difficulties who spend 17 years in prison convincted of a child murder that he could not possibly ever have committed, as DNA evidence later proved. The girl, Lesley Moleseed had been ejaculated over. Kisko was physically incapable of producing sperm.
For most of those 17 long years, this decent, quiet man was repeatedly attacked and abused in prison in the most appalling ways. When he was finally released on appeal, he was a broken man both mentally and physically and just eighteen months later.
I bet criminal sadists like mamadiva's dad thought Kisko's torment was funny and that they were clever for facilitating it. I find it disgusting. He is no better than those he is employed to guard. I think Mumsnet should actually delete all posts that incite violence, and to those posters who think that the best response to a criminal, violent attack is more criminal violence - shame on you.

PottyCock · 18/11/2008 08:39

I agree that more violence is not the answer.

Has everybody written to their MPs?

cupsoftea · 18/11/2008 08:48

Just read the latest news updates & there really has to be a criminal investigation against the professionals who didn't do their jobs.

Makes me wonder how many other kids are in need & are being ignored by those who are paid tax payers money to do their jobs.

I would like to be given the chance to go through the reports on children at risk & I bet that I could spot those who needed immediate removal from their awful sitiuations.
