The Restore Britain March seems to have gone pretty well today from what I can glean online.

It could be a faulty algorithm, but the trouble the PM seemed to think would happen doesn’t seem to have materialised. I’ve seen clips from the march where a diverse mix of people have marched, not just football hooligan types.

Thankfully, Starmer will soon be confined to history’s dustbin - as will his successor.

The UK does not want socialism - its abundantly clear.

I don't think he's a socialist on any level and I don't think there has been a proper socialist Labour government in my lifetime

BIossomtoes · 17/05/2026 15:26

Starmer isn’t giving us socialism, he’s a red Tory.

As we call Labour in Scotland

Are you suggesting that only the wealthy can be politicians?

Absolutely not! That would be appalling. I am suggesting that the SNP are very good at pretending to benefit others while actually benefitting themselves. Nothing more.

Aha!

And when did you draw this conclusion?

Fascism - FGS….

Read the room, look at the direction of travel.

Sorry, I don't understand your point. Can you clarify?

What does the UK want then?

Keir Starmer isn't a socialist. He's the current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with a huge majority in Parliament. A Labour Prime Minister. There's another three years of a Labour Government. Thank goodness.

Keir Starmer isn't a Red Tory. He's a dedicated member of the Labour party. Centrist politics had always been a core belief within Labour.

No, Labour do not have another three years - there will be an early GE.

I will put one thousand pounds on it - do you have the conviction to take the other side of the bet? Charity of my choice/your choice.

Let me know and I will happily DM you, to arrange.

Seriously - let me know.

SpryTaupeTurtle · 17/05/2026 15:34

I'm in Scotland. Reform did reasonably well up here at the Holyrood elections but not one of their candidates were elected on the constituency vote despite a lot of money being thrown at their campaign. All were elected on the list vote.

"Kemi Badenoch stopping it? I don't think she's bothered."

It seems to be Badenoch's USP. Not bothered. Not sure I would be happy with that as a member.

Clarity - I'm a Labour member and I like Keir Starmer.

Fair enough. I am a Tory and like Kemi Badenoch. I am happy with the 'not bothered' thing because I am sure she has far more important things to think about than whether a few of her most tiresome MPs are buggering off to give ghastly Farage a helping hand.

Don't DM me. A general election will happen in 2029. Suck it up and don't waste your money, is my advice.

I don't believe there will be. They know they are going to lose most likely.

Ps just a heads up. Not everyone has a spare thousand pounds lying around to make a bet with someone. Some people don't have a fiver at the end of the month.

You lack the conviction - haven’t got it in you.

Understand this for what it really is. This is not normal political drama. This is a gang of ideologically driven far left people who have all known each other since university, who never left the student union, who went straight into politics, strategically parachuted into safe seats in local areas they have no connection to.

Backed by unions. With a single purpose. Power.

Now they have it the mask is off. They came for the farmers. Attacking people who feed the country. They came for our service men and women. They hammered business with taxes not included in their manifesto. They have targeted groups of people they despise and attempted to dress it up as fiscal responsibility, now they are battling each other for the thrown while our economy is at 0% growth and in the midst of a gilt crises.

This is not a government. There will be an early General Election.

Some people don't have money. Until 18 months ago I was living on 393 pounds a month. There is such a thing as understanding that even if someone did want to bet you they might not have the money to do it.

There won't.

And people in the UK do want socialism, in principle. What do you think the NHS is? The education system? Why is Andy Burnham talking about nationalising water and energy., why are the railways being renationalised? These are popular systems and ideas.

SpryTaupeTurtle · 17/05/2026 15:44

My labour MP even though I don't like her represented the town she was born in the last time she was an MP and is now MP for the town around ten miles away. There are several labour MPs who have strong connections to the areas they represent

Gosh I missed the madder part of your thread! Angela Rayner is part of a far left cabal who went to university with the other members of the cabinet and has never left politics CS for a real job? She was a single mum in her teens, a grandmother in her 30s and worked in care homes! And she was deputy PM. I could look at others in the cabinet/in the first cabinet but tbh what's the point, your post is delusional.

On the contrary, I'm both intelligent and highly educated. But I'm happy to give your insane rantings a miss, of course. Enjoy your, er... "debate"!

You are doing it again. You have extrapolated widely and thrown accusations my way and are now infuriated I am still here as you hoped to run me off the thread. You are happy to be keyboard warriors until such a time that you have to stand behind the words you’ve written.

I am not infuriated, I do not want to "run off" anyone, and I extrapolate from evidence I see.

Objective logic is my thing really. And what I see here is a UK subject thread, with an OP from the right who is trying to enact censorship. Initially with repeated posting of "reported" in reply to posts, then the threat of the law.

Job creation for the mods to be sure. I don't envy them.
