The Restore Britain March seems to have gone pretty well today from what I can glean online.

It could be a faulty algorithm, but the trouble the PM seemed to think would happen doesn’t seem to have materialised. I’ve seen clips from the march where a diverse mix of people have marched, not just football hooligan types.

Still waiting to hear all this evidence about who I’m in the pay of? Not those bloody Russians again.

Did anyone claim you were a paid shill specifically?

I'm not saying you are, just that I haven't seen the specific claim - but obviously the thread has lots of deleted posts.

They are.

  • On the Political Compass, both are authoritarian.
  • Both disrespect the rule of law when it suits them.
  • Both are intolerant of dissent.
  • Both are all too willing to abuse bystanders when on demos.
  • Both are now wanting to defund the police, albeit for differing reasons.
  • Both don't actually care about women's rights, they just use us as a figleaf for their real agenda.

This is absurd nonsense. Labour aren't even left wing. Why do you think Scotland stopped voting Labour in huge numbers after 2015.

JassyRadlett · 17/05/2026 13:34

They're both packed with antisemites...

I'm left wing. I'm not anti semitic.

You don't think that Black people can have racist views themselves towards minorities? Pretty naive if you think that.

Exactly! Note: Priti Patel and Stella Braverman!

Quote : "It's sad that our society is tearing itself apart like this instead of being more inclusive"

Inclusive of exclusive policy ? Is that not a paradox ?

Makes my head spin thinking about it.

So my DD for example. Mixed race. So if a political group where I am said that one of her 2 races should not be allowed to attend her school, I should embrace that person's political views in the name of being inclusive ?

How does that work then ?

The example of that happening to your daughter is never likely to happen in the UK though and quite rightly, it never should, but we do allow inclusion of some groups of people whose views exclude others. Note the recent complaints about some factions on the pro-Palestine marches and their antisemitic views.

As you say, there is a danger in being tolerant of people who are intolerant of us but there is also a danger of calling a wide range of people racist and right-wing when they just hold a different view to those trying to claim the moral high ground.

I'm not posting here again till after Pentecost, but I fail to see why Arthur, Alfred, Simon de Montfort, Boudicca and her daughters, Magna Carta etc are funny. They are not funny and they are the culture of this country (bet you don't know what the flowers of the forest mean, and had I mentioned Llewellyn the Great you wouldn't have a clue) and they are what people are marching for. They are marching against those who say not only that these things don't matter but that they are WRONG and EVIL and on the wrong side of history. The UK stopped the slave trade, its empire fought the Nazis and defeated them. It's not shameful to know and celebrate these things and other countries don't go round saying constantly oh, we have a dreadful history (even when they do), only the British.

That is stretching a point.

I said this kind of OP was populated by bots and shills (iirc - guessing my post was deleted?). The op demanded to know why I was calling her a bot so I clarified.

£4.5 million for 45 arrests £100,000 for every protester - talk about overkill!

Let me guess - you think money spent on Y2K projects was wasted because the world’s tech stacks didn’t collapse at midnight 31st December 1999.

No but they will be. Pretending that because the far right, at the moment, target Muslim and brown people means they’ll stop when they get their aim is baffling. So many of them already spit anti semitic rhetoric.

It's the Left who are spewing most of the anti-Semitic rhetoric, not to mention throwing the blood libel about. I am on the Left and it makes me very angry that such idiots think they speak for me. They don't.

I’m familiar with all those figures, including those which are entirely or largely mythical. The idea that the thugs who regularly appear at the TR marches have a clue or give a shit about many of them is laughable,

Going for a little lie down for a week is probably a very good idea.

But the hard and far right is exploiting antisemitism by pretending they have the best interests of Jews at heart. We know what they'd do if they had a chance. The problem with being a left wing Jew these days is - who genuinely speaks for us?

Either back it up or retract it. You are legally obliged to back up your accusation with some facts or retract it. I shall leave that with you to decide.

There's no law requiring any such thing.

I'm not sure what you are specifically referring to about being anti semitic. If you are referring to being pro Palestine - I am but that doesn't make me an anti semite. Just because someone is left or right wing doesn't mean they are going to align with every other person who is either of these things.

I see a lot of posts on social media saying if you are left wing you believe this or you believe that - like people don't have an independent thought in their own head. I don't even believe we have much of a left wing presence left in the UK these days - because Starmers labour isn't it in my view.

JassyRadlett · 17/05/2026 13:53

SpryTaupeTurtle · 17/05/2026 13:42

Sorry, I've gone back and realise my error - I'd thought the "list" post was referring to the extremes of left and right wing politics, not the left and right wings as a whole. I should have been more careful in what I was responding to.

I'll stand by my view that the extremes on both sides give space and succour to antisemites, though not all members of the far left and far right personally hold antisemitic views.

Claim the moral high ground ?

This is why my head spins on this subject.

So if I say racism in any shape or form is morally wrong, are you saying there is an alternate morality where racism is good ? That the moral high ground is conditional ?

Grammarnut · 17/05/2026 13:57

ForWittyTealOP · 17/05/2026 09:25

Can't speak for all Jews but I wasn't massively reassured to see the fascist far right draped in flags on the streets of my home city and carrying anti Jewish racist placards to boot. Take your what-aboutery and your patronising attempt to speak for Jews somewhere else. We don't want your "support".

Sigh. Answer the question. How do Jews feel about weekly pro-Palestinian marches, accusing Israel of genocide, such marches beginning on Oct 8th 23 while Hamas and friends were still committing genocide in Israel?

Nope. You don’t get to walk away from making online accusations and making statements that can lead to reputational damage, there’s laws against that I’m afraid.

It's not mental gymnastics.

They don't attend Church. They don't read the bible or know anything about it.

They don't talk about God at all.

Tell me one far-right leader in the UK who has ever mentioned God in any statement they've made.

Or any of their supporters.

They haven't.

They're claiming England is a Christian country based on history and because it's a way of 'combating' Islam.

None of them ever mention God.

Christians mention God and the Bible frequently.

All of the US Christian Nationalists mention God and the Bible frequently.

They're not Christians, they don't go to Church, they don't mention the Bible, they don't talk about God ever.

Christianity is based on a belief in God and Jesus.

Christian nationalism is based on WHAT GOD WANTS, that is the fundamental basis of Christian nationalism - they are soldiers working for God in white supremacy, anti-abortion, homophobia.

Trump alligned himself with Christian Nationalists to win votes. Was 'blessed' by a bunch of Christian pastors putting their hands on his head in public and claiming God had appointed him as president and claimed after the assasination attempt in 2024 he has been saved by divine intervention.

That would be fucking laughable in the UK.

Literally none of the right wing leaders in the UK mention God ever.

They're not Christian let alone Christian nationalists.

Which Christian churches and pastors/leaders are involved in this Christian nationalist movement?

There are hundreds in the US, if there's a Christian Nationalist movement in the UK, there must be churches and leaders involved?

Edited

Russell Brand embraced Christianity and right-wing politics as soon as the allegations of rape and sexual assault were filed by the survivors of his sexual abuse.

Russell Brand has shown public support for Tommy Robinson, providing him with a platform and praising his work.

Brand hosted an in-depth conversation with Tommy Robinson on his podcast, Stay Free with Russell Brand, where the two discussed topics like immigration and their shared Christian faith.

Rather than patriotism, in their cases I would say that the embrace of fake christianity is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
