The Restore Britain March seems to have gone pretty well today from what I can glean online.

It could be a faulty algorithm, but the trouble the PM seemed to think would happen doesn’t seem to have materialised. I’ve seen clips from the march where a diverse mix of people have marched, not just football hooligan types.

You started a thread about the Unite the Kingdom March so people are now talking about political parties on the right.

I started a thread saying I was glad the march was peaceful. A load of furious people then came onto the thread and called me a bot, a shill and a fascist. We then started talking about politics.

It's not mental gymnastics.

They don't attend Church. They don't read the bible or know anything about it.

They don't talk about God at all.

Tell me one far-right leader in the UK who has ever mentioned God in any statement they've made.

Or any of their supporters.

They haven't.

They're claiming England is a Christian country based on history and because it's a way of 'combating' Islam.

None of them ever mention God.

Christians mention God and the Bible frequently.

All of the US Christian Nationalists mention God and the Bible frequently.

They're not Christians, they don't go to Church, they don't mention the Bible, they don't talk about God ever.

Christianity is based on a belief in God and Jesus.

Christian nationalism is based on WHAT GOD WANTS, that is the fundamental basis of Christian nationalism - they are soldiers working for God in white supremacy, anti-abortion, homophobia.

Trump alligned himself with Christian Nationalists to win votes. Was 'blessed' by a bunch of Christian pastors putting their hands on his head in public and claiming God had appointed him as president and claimed after the assasination attempt in 2024 he has been saved by divine intervention.

That would be fucking laughable in the UK.

Literally none of the right wing leaders in the UK mention God ever.

They're not Christian let alone Christian nationalists.

Which Christian churches and pastors/leaders are involved in this Christian nationalist movement?

There are hundreds in the US, if there's a Christian Nationalist movement in the UK, there must be churches and leaders involved?

Edited

So they don't fit your definition of Christianity, fine. I'm cool with that. You'll note I haven't mentioned Christian nationalism, but rather the idea that those on the march weren't claiming to be Christians.

However - on the march yesterday you had people wearing Bible verses, chanting Christ is King, carrying Christian banners, being handed crosses and otherwise using plenty of Christian iconography, on a march led by a man who claims to have recently converted to Christianity.

Rightly or wrongly, these are people trying to align themselves with Christianity and claiming to be Christian.

Nobody called you a bot. I called you a shill for obvious reasons. I'm not furious right now, in fact I'm just having a cup of tea.

The 'overkill' was the reason not many arrests needed to be made.

Yup.

The right complain about no " Bobbies on the beat" all the time. Then when they get loads of Bobbies on the beat, they call it overkill.

Please help make it make sense.

We are surely in the Trumpian era. Where an alternate logic works.

It's a sort of anti logic logic.

Rupert Lowe often mentions the fact we are a Christian nation

Reform stood a paper candidate here more or less at the last elections. No visible presence at all in the area prior to the election. No door to door campaigning and almost 6000 people voted for them.

It makes as much sense as TR saying he would end foreign funding in this country.

Oh dear, so hard to prove.

Ok. I've been watching the thread and I haven't seen anyone call you, personally, a bot or a fascist. Already held my hands up to calling you a shill. Also not seen furious people, including myself.

A little hyperbole maybe?

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 17/05/2026 13:30

Actually do you even know what a ‘shill’ is. You’ve just dropped in casually that you ‘obviously’ thought I was a shill. There is literally nothing about my posts that look like someone is paying me and the fact that you’ve assumed it means you must be hanging out in some very extreme areas of the internet.

I read a comment a few days ago that said right-wing and left-wing politics are two cheeks of the same arse. That made me laugh 🤭

They are.

  • On the Political Compass, both are authoritarian.
  • Both disrespect the rule of law when it suits them.
  • Both are intolerant of dissent.
  • Both are all too willing to abuse bystanders when on demos.
  • Both are now wanting to defund the police, albeit for differing reasons.
  • Both don't actually care about women's rights, they just use us as a figleaf for their real agenda.

They're both packed with antisemites...

It makes as much sense as TR saying he would end foreign funding in this country.

While he yells MUSK MUSK MUSK.

And of course, complains that foreign far right speakers are banned.... from attending an anti foreigner demonstration.

Defo a Spock raised eyebrow thing.

I was just having a tiny joke after our exchange earlier on the meaning of those words.... Apologies for the derail!

Hmm.
You could certainly say the same of other men from other cultures, though, couldn't you?

(coughs)

Exactly. Poor male behaviour is a "men" problem, not a race problem.

You said it was 'mental gymnastics' for me to claim these people aren't claiming to be Christian when there's no evidence that they are.

This is hands down one of the funniest, most deluded and, honestly fucking insane posts I’ve ever read on here. It’s really made me laugh. Thanks for the giggle 🤭

I'm not posting here again till after Pentecost, but I fail to see why Arthur, Alfred, Simon de Montfort, Boudicca and her daughters, Magna Carta etc are funny. They are not funny and they are the culture of this country (bet you don't know what the flowers of the forest mean, and had I mentioned Llewellyn the Great you wouldn't have a clue) and they are what people are marching for. They are marching against those who say not only that these things don't matter but that they are WRONG and EVIL and on the wrong side of history. The UK stopped the slave trade, its empire fought the Nazis and defeated them. It's not shameful to know and celebrate these things and other countries don't go round saying constantly oh, we have a dreadful history (even when they do), only the British.
