The Restore Britain March seems to have gone pretty well today from what I can glean online.

It could be a faulty algorithm, but the trouble the PM seemed to think would happen doesn’t seem to have materialised. I’ve seen clips from the march where a diverse mix of people have marched, not just football hooligan types.

To say that it might have been my algorithm, but it looked like all the news anticipating drama and rioting was incorrect. It was a pretty peaceful event.

Well yes, there were only 11 arrests, so on that level it was peaceful. But that's not taking into account the racist chants that could be heard, as reported all over social media. Not peaceful if you're a Muslim or Black listening to it.

I got caught up in the middle of it this afternoon, I've never seen a bigger bunch of drunken bell ends.

My daughter was policing it. She got in at 0200 after a 17 hr day. I understand it was having a "sterile area" that kept trouble to a minimum

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 17/05/2026 08:49

I read a comment a few days ago that said right-wing and left-wing politics are two cheeks of the same arse. That made me laugh 🤭

No idea. I wasn’t there.

On the whole my experience of far right racists is they are uneducated, think women are there just for a shag, are anti equality of everything and have no idea what the rule of law is. Is that you?

Hmm.
You could certainly say the same of other men from other cultures, though, couldn't you?

(coughs)

TemperanceWest · 17/05/2026 08:52

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 17/05/2026 08:41

No one is saying the event was a family orientated march full of women and children and old people knitting. The original post was noticing there wasn’t much trouble which was heartening.

Edited

I doubt the people who are the targets of the marchers' hate feel "heartened".

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 17/05/2026 08:43

I don’t know where you hang out but where are you finding these right wing racists?

Mumsnet banned a couple of them from this very site yesterday. There are plenty of others who are more skilled at evading the ban hammer.

Chenecinquantecinq · 17/05/2026 08:55

Yes all ages from children to grannies, a lovely family day out. I am sure Starmer is most upset 😂

BackToLurk · 17/05/2026 08:56

Well I think it’s lovely of Rupert to come here and make it very clear what he’s all about. Thanks Rupert.

AImportantMermaid · 17/05/2026 08:57

I’m sure churches must be looking forward to their pews being overflowing this morning with all those Christian soldiers waving their crosses and St. George flags round yesterday.

A lovely family day out alongside folk such as White Vanguard. Delightful!

Owlsintheforest · 17/05/2026 08:57

My husband and I were on the train with a couple of groups of the people attending the TUK March (we were off to a different event). We were so surprised to be sat next to a Chinese and black family all draped in the Union Jack, England flags and all wearing MEGA (make England great again?) hats.
Hardly the racist thugs that Kier the liar was talking about!! They were all pleasant 🙂

Just because someone asks you a question about your mistake it doesn't mean they are frothing or furious. It means they wonder if you know what march you're actually talking about.

Using some tired old put downs doesn't detract fro your mistake.

Were they actually far right extremists or are a lot of you in a hair trigger and overreacting to some perfectly ordinary posts written in the News section of the site? Because judging from all the personal attacks in this thread, some people are actubg a little unhinged.

Expect Starmer will be pleased with the low turn-out/ absence of 11 banned extremist speakers and effective high profile policing

MN is very tolerant of racism at the moment so they were obviously quite extreme to get kicked out.

Rumbled. We’re actually all your Zionist overlords.

The police did a tremendous job and should be heartily congratulated.

I was sat next a black family on the train who were all travelling to the March. They were wearing England flags and MEGA hats. I think black people are fine. If you watched any of it online you’d see a see of different skin colours and there were a lot of black and brown people speaking.

Ginmonkeyagain · 17/05/2026 09:02

What I don't get is why people have to dress up like a pound shop version of Spamalot and stagger around London to feel proud to be British, can't they just rewatch tne 2012 Olympics or something?

spekky · 17/05/2026 09:03

Yes it went so well that there were performers mocking Muslim women, chanting for Trump and Musk, and generally being coked up bellends.

I fear for the future of this country and will leave ASAP if this lot ever get in. They want to privatise the NHS, cut the minimum wage, ban abortion, introduce an ICE style police force. It’s a walking disaster.

They were preaching the anti-semitic great replacement theory, same as the chaps with the lovely banner which you have so far avoided commenting on.

Looks really heart warming and family friendly 💕.

Wonder if they were reeling round central London blind drunk, wearing a Union Jack and urinating everywhere like last time! ‘‘Twas a sight to behold

Blind drunk seems to be the truth according to a PP who was there.
