It could be a faulty algorithm, but the trouble the PM seemed to think would happen doesn’t seem to have materialised. I’ve seen clips from the march where a diverse mix of people have marched, not just football hooligan types.

How racist. You know nothing of the people on the Unite the Kingdom march (some of whom were Iranians, for I saw the lion flag flying, and they were very likely not born here) and you don't seem very invested in the kingdom either. The people marched for Alfred and Ethandun, for Arthur, for Harold and William the Bastard, for Magna Carta and King Cnut (and his waves) and the Provisions of Oxford, for the Act of Settlement and the Bills of Right (2, one English, one Scots), for the flowers of the forest and the anti-slavery movement, for trades unionism and the Red Flag, to remember that governments should not seek windows into men's and women's souls, for the Civil War and the overthrow of tyrants, for the Pretenders who failed, that crofters should have rights, to remember Boudicca and her daughters...
Any of it ring a bell with you?

Edited

I’d love you to put that list in front of the people marching and ask them to identify those historical figures.

You’re very xenophobic in your list - hardly a list of significant historical figures from Northern Ireland or any political insight into state sponsored murder.

Unite the Kingdom 😂😂😂😂.

It's really weird but I find that the slightest bit of aggression from men at events like these is met with much opprobrium by some women, however, undocumented men with very different cultural values (not race, culture) towards women- much of which are extremely negative - are met with open arms by the very same women who expressed opprobrium to the men who attended the events they complained about.

What is the psychology behind this?

Love and kindness saving them or changing their minds or some such nonsense no doubt.
A nation of Wendys trying to save Peter Pan.

Not singling out you out for this. I don't know you at all, it is, however, something I've noticed with some British women.

Polishing their halos. Jordan Peterson phrased it as “narcissistic compassion”.

I got caught up in the middle of it this afternoon, I've never seen a bigger bunch of drunken bell ends.

I guess that tends to suggest that Keir Starmer was entirely reasonable to express concerns.

The hatred is horrendous, my friend and I were in London yesterday and we were making our way through Charing Cross, she is of Sri Lankan descent and a doctor.

The thugs we walked past were emboldened enough to shout paki at her multiple times and spit on her - this was at 11am in the morning. Just lovely.

I can't understand why anyone thinks this is acceptable in this day and age.

That's fucking disgusting. Awful for your friend, and awful for you to witness.

I bet if one of those arseholes had taken a beating yesterday, they'd have been happy to be treated by her though.

JustMyView13 · 17/05/2026 07:39

It was organised by Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. He co-founded the EDL, and is widely accepted as being far right. I suspect that might be your answer as to why the march was considered a right wing march.

And he's so proud to be British that he has an Irish passport as well as a UK one, and lives in Spain.

Chenecinquantecinq · 17/05/2026 09:15

I know of black people who attended. Gosh this place as usual is a sneering hot pot of middle class snobbery. Just read some of the posts what a huge majority on MN actually hate is the working class. Blindingly obvious, you can shout racist far right as much as you like to try and hide your snobbery. Doesn’t wash.

Ginmonkeyagain · 17/05/2026 09:15

@LakieLady I bet he speaks Spanish and it well integrated in to Spanish civic and cultural life right? Right?

I am working class. No way does this march represent me.

How do you think it feels for minorities to see a crowd of thousands of drunk white men waving England flags and crosses?

Maybe wonder how a really small minority ie Jews feel when 2 years of weekly marches of people waving Palestinian flags and signs saying “globalise the intifada” feel?

What would you accept as being racist? What kind of behaviour? What types of policies?

Oh but those marches have Jewish attendees. So by the logic of the “not everyone was white on Tommy’s march” people there’s no problem. That’s how it works right?

They never seem to take issue with that though. Wonder why? 🤔

@Owlsintheforest needs to learn that effective fibbing requires consistency. Or perhaps they realised their original post was overegging things, so scaled back with this following one.

DaphneduM · 17/05/2026 09:21

I was also pleased to see that the march passed off peacefully. We really don't need any more tangible evidence of the fractures in British society being played out by a few people, who absolutely don't represent the majority.

An example of my week - Monday, my regular three monthly trip to the dental hygienist - a non-white lady, Wednesday, a trip to the optometrist - likewise, Thursday, an emergency appointment at the local eye hospital to see the consultant - likewise. So all these professionals who are doing a fantastic job for which I'm very grateful. They got an education, got trained and got a profession. Surely this option is open to any young person, whatever their background and colour of their skin.

I caveat this with acknowledgement of the fact that the issue of undocumented people is an important concern and can be construed as a crisis - but I do believe most rational people see the bigger picture regarding the contribution to the country made by legal immigrants, often a few generations back.

You got caught upnin a small povket of drunken bellends. Same said for the pockets of anti semitic abudive pro palestinian bellends on a weekly basis. You get bellends in every protest. You were just unlucky....

No one is saying the event was a family orientated march full of women and children and old people knitting. The original post was noticing there wasn’t much trouble which was heartening.

Edited

Hmm, I made it all the way to the second post of the thread before I saw that claim.

5MinuteArgument · 17/05/2026 09:24

I think the banning of 11 'far right' speakers that were going to attend the march is the most troubling aspect of all this. They banned Dominik Tarczynski, Member of the European Parliament, which is outrageous. He's a Polish politician who puts his countrypeople first and Poland is a much safer and well ordered country as a result.

So Starmer and Mahmood can stop 11 people attending a rally but they can't stop thousands of young men entering our country illegally. Pathetic.
