Let me get out my tiny violin. Just because she's sorry now doesn't change the fact she's a racist who incited violence

What do you think might happen to you.

Hitchens Razor applies.

A safe non Lowe link? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It was for Jane's benefit as she understandably didn't want to visit Lowe's Twitter page.

You’re too clever for me. What on earth do you mean.

Will her eyes be burnt to a crisp. I used to follow Owen Jones till he blocked me despite the fact that I had no interaction with him whatsoever. I think it’s interesting to understand how people with opposing views think. Rupert Lowe is one of those.

I agree. But Rupert Lowe is not really worth spending time on IMHO.

I can't stand Owen Jones.

Hitchens's razor basically says that if you make a claim, it is up to you to prove that the claim is truthful. If you cannot do so, others can dismiss the claim without any further argument.

bombastix · 21/05/2025 13:13

Yeah, having read the motion I can see why Corbyn withdrew. It’s likely once Williamson reads it carefully he might well do the same.

Don’t worry. I’ve looked it up. I was worried it was something to do with Peter Hitchens. 🤣

I notice Lowe's EDM refers to Connelly twice as a "young mother" as if to imply she's a twenty-something who made a stupid error. She's 41 FFS!

Corbyn has withdrawn his signature. Here is a safe, non-Lowe link.

edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/63681/imprisonment-of-lucy-connolly

Did they get her confused with somebody else? She's hardly young, and whilst I am sorry about her sons death she also isn't a mother. Also struggling to understand the non-violence involved in urging people to commit murder. Presumably she thought they would beat them to death with daisies?

Everything about your post is wrong and misinformed (like alot of the misinformed on mumsnet who comment without bothering to do any research). She is a mother, and she didn't urge people to commit murder (she said for all I care).

Maybe you need to do some research before posting because you seem very misinformed

Yes this! Her post was really horrible but I think trying to make it something it’s not just gives the impression that you don’t believe in the case and have to make things up.

absolutely sickening that she’s still in prison. I’ve seen nearly 150 thousand has been raised for her 👏👏

perhaps she can use the money to get someone to prevent her from posting on the internet and then lying to the courts.

You have to have gone to the right school if you want to buy justice in the UK.

she shouldn’t have been imprisoned for 31 months for a tweet that was deleted and actually didn’t incite anything. Are you not bored of calling everyone racist because they don’t agree with her punishment? Her tweet did not warrant 31 months when there are rapists and paedophile’s getting a lesser sentence.

I hope she spends it on a bloody long holiday when she’s reunited with her daughter.

Aren't you bored of pretending you give a toss about the judicial system? She pled guilty to incitement to racial hatred, I can't imagine anyone who didn't agree with her donating cash for her 'cause'.

Boredofbeinganadult · 05/06/2025 10:28

Her “for all I care” comment didn’t incite anything, had she said it in America she wouldn’t have faced any prison time at all. She would have had to have given a specific time and place for it to be seen as incitement. We have a very flawed system in the UK. Her comment was wrong but 31 months over a deleted tweet shows the UK is looking more and more like a totalitarian state.

But she admitted incitement. Why do you know better?

She was appealing against her sentence not the verdict

SerendipityJane · 05/06/2025 10:49

Really LC is the least obliging poster child for agitators because rather unhelpfully, she pleaded guilty.

If people want to make the case for change, they need to find someone in a similar position who pleaded innocent and put their case to a jury.

Her sentence was right within the prescribed range. Why was she surprised? She had what sounded like a rather good lawyer from
the Court of Appeal’s judgment.
