@BlackShuck3 yes and when your mate has a litter and tells you you can have one and pay them back for it weekly, you go for it.
But I’ve been (over) thinking this on a long drive and I’ve come up with the following thoughts.
The majority of these people are living in pure survival mode. They don’t, or can’t, think of the consequences further down the line, they want to feel safe and protected and survive another day. It’s the same reason that a lot of the women have a boyfriend with steroid muscles and a string of domestic abuse convictions (often against them!), yet they still invite him into their home to live with their kids because he makes them feel safe right now. They don’t think that the dog (or man) could turn on them and kill them at any moment. They, men and women, don’t think that if they carry a knife, they’re more likely to get stabbed or if they commit an offence they might go to prison or if they take the drugs they might overdose, they live in the here and now and they do what they think they need to right now.
Also, I think we choose what we have, including our pets, subconsciously to reflect our personalities and our sub culture. Our lab really is ‘soft as shit’ and so are we 😂. If I saw myself as hard and could stand up for myself, I’d probably choose a more aggressive breed. If I see another owner with a well trained, working dog I subconsciously think, “aha that’s my kind of person, they probably have similar values to me” and also subconsciously, that’s the image I want to project.
Anyway that’s a bit of a ramble but with a bit of research, I could probably submit it as a PHD thesis 😂.
