People are angry.
I understand why.
Angry people protest.

But they're not protesting

They're rioting scum

TransformerZ · 03/08/2024 23:33

Thanks. I'm in an end terrace and they are 1 of 3 other houses that can come into my garden to access the side access to take out waste etc rather than dragging through their homes or bring in large furniture etc, so as of yet I can't stop them. I think I need the police to caution him or her or both and then I can go to a solicitor to block access. The police haven't even come out to me yet, my bruises have gone purply pink, I've taken pictures, I'll just have to see what happens.
My husband is a white French guy, they act so nice in front of him. He's away on business at the moment. She'll have to pathetically flirt with someone else now!

ColdButteredToast · 03/08/2024 23:34

@Rainbowsponge there were threads about it on here. I read them. More threads now but I would suggest that that's because it's going on all over the country.

I do think those riots probably had a hand in sparking these ones though... Violent arseholes thinking "if they're going to do it we should too".

Another riot happened only a couple of weeks ago, with burning cars/buses and smashed up streets, and there was absolute crickets about it on here. Fine - nobody is compelled to discuss anything they don’t want to. But you can’t then blub when people query why that very same incident received virtually no press or MN attention, along with police arriving 3 hours late to the incident and the PM looking the other way, when these equally brainless events have inspired a specialist task force set up by the prime minister and a very robust and vocal police response.

I would be VERY interested to see any direct replies to the above, not just crying about how mean I am or some shit like that?

This is a far right dog whistle and is bollocks.
Harehills was an in the moment response triggered by something that happened in the local community. It was not planned disorder carried out by a load of racists who organised and travelled in response to misinformation on twitter.

The fact its been stored up and whipped out now as some kind of justification is ridiculous.

Get of twitter and stop being an apologist for far right racist thugs

Make sure you save the photos and chase the police up. You don’t need to see a solicitor, as part of the criminal process they should arrange a restraining order. All the best to you x

But the result is the same isn’t it? Destroyed local community, intimidated public, injured officers, waste of public resources.

You sound like you’re fine with rioting and an apologist for it, as long as you approve of the motive.

I condemn all of it. Attempting to smear me because the hypocrisy makes you uncomfortable will not work.

Rainbowsponge · 03/08/2024 23:38

I don’t even have a Twitter account 😂😂😂

Crikeyalmighty · 03/08/2024 23:39

A load of piss poor losers who can't accept the country didn't all fall at Farages feet in gratitude- you know the kind of tattooed racist bore you hear on holiday going on about pakis (sic) -well they've all got together via Twitter and Telegram goading each other on - now busy tweeting pics of sensible looking 57 year olds saying 'apparently I'm a racist thug' - well you may not be a thug - but you sure as hell are aligning yourself with them- they should be bloody ashamed of themselves - it's purely politically motivated or they would have been doing this a year ago- they are all pawns in Farages experiment to create mayhem and create a dictatorship -

It's happening because social media is allowing them to organise while being cheered on by people like Elon Musk who have no understanding of what happened but want to get on a bandwagon, and outright racist liars like Farage and Katie Hopkins.

The goods news is that these people are all morons and putting film of themselves all over social media and won't cover their faces because they associate that with Covid, which they don't believe in, so will be very easy to arrest

Wait… what? Are you saying that Elon Musk is cheering on the EDL / people rioting in Bristol? Where have you seen this?

He’s an easy target and it’s lazy to accuse him of this without backing it up with evidence.

Can you put up a CCTV camera in your garden? It doesn't have to be a real one. That might also help to deter them. Nasty people

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 03/08/2024 23:41

The awfulness of what happened in Southport as the initial trigger. Beyond that - its summer, its hot, the evenings are light. "good time of year for a beer and a punch up" basically. Sad but true.
I was thinking today about what happened in various places around the UK in 2012 - that was also in the school summer hols. Ditto most other riotous years in the UK I should think?

Oh for goodness sake.
No, "The effect" isn't "the same". The rioters at the moment are holding the whole country hostage because they are having a tantrum about immigrants. This has been organised on Twitter, with suggestions a hostile state has influenced it. The two events are not the same either in cause or in effect.

It is nothing to do with "approving of the motive" and everything to do with having the ability to distinguish between different types of event.

I also think its a piss poor excuse to say "well they smashed things up so we can too" Confused

Anyway. I won't be replying on this again. The only reason I have is to make the point to lurkers that Harehills is a point the far right have manufactured to justify their violence. A bit like posters talking about "2 tier policing", "reasonable concerns" and "misunderstood working class".

Go away with your false equivalence

Notnowbarnaby · 03/08/2024 23:45

I despair of this country I really do. If there was somewhere better and safer to go I’d go but there really doesn’t seem to be these days. It feels like the whole world is slowly burning.

the riots are just sickening, a tragedy hijacked for a violent agenda that is nothing to do with the poor victims and their families. It’s started now though, I imagine it will only get worse

Shoutymomma · 03/08/2024 23:46

You know how flying ants all appear on one day in the summer? Well this is the day for bigots.

Crikeyalmighty · 03/08/2024 23:49

Well strangely @Rainbowsponge if people kept their noses clean and were not out there being utter twats we wouldn't have to be even discussing 2 tier policing - I have no idea what went on Leeds - I agree with tough action -regardless of race or colour - clearly didn't happen and yes it should have- - but what business of theirs was that situation to these thugs from all over- none at all-
strangely the usual thuggish morons only ever react if ifs a situation involving 'race'- didn't see them out there in full flow following the Wayne cousens situation or that white prick that killed the little black boy the other week

So Harehills wasn’t organised? All those people just spontaneously passed by and turned up did they? There’s nothing ‘manufactured’ about it - it took place, it’s an event in history, a fact, and identical in nature to what we have witnessed the last few nights. Harehills was also holding hostage - rioting until neglected children were returned so they could continue to be neglected. By saying rioting is less bad if the motive is better, you’re saying it’s not about the act of rioting, that it can be more or less acceptable.

Flounce if you like, I expected it - it’s what always happens when somebody has zero comeback.

They are mindless thugs who have chosen violence and destruction

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 04/08/2024 00:00

An edit to my earlier comment - I wouldnt want anyone to think what I said is glib/minimising at all..........Im just thinking that the issues that cause rioters to riot seem to me to bubble along all year (usually for quite a few years) and then something happens to kick start things and tension boils over, the riots start etc - and that (in my memory!) always seems to be in summer?

I watched footage/saw photos on the news earlier and was truly shocked and appalled. Appalled that it happened but in particular that there were so many families with kids and babies in prams.......... alongside youths in masks who were chucking stuff. Such a contrast. And scary. I cant imagine being there as an adult (even on the say no to racism side - Im such a scaredy cat about riots and people shouting) but for sure I absolutely couldnt be there with my kids or a baby!
