4 young children stabbed in Annecy

I looked for a thread on this but couldn't see one.

I'm absolutely shocked and sickened at this attack on these helpless babies.

I can't imagine what the mother/minder of the baby who was stabbed multiple times in their pushchair is feeling and I so hope the two babies who are critical pull through.

Just awful :( :(

Reading these kinds of stories really affect me. I have a 3.5 yr old and a 18month old and I just want to scoop them up and protect them forever.

I hope you go onto posts about mothers killing their children with this same energy when every other poster is bending over backwards with 'poor woman, mental health, where was the father? It's his fault'.

I have no idea what you’re going on about tbh

Either that’s because I couldn’t see any racism OR the last time I challenged what I considered to be racism I got a 1 week ban for a personal attack so I am on my very best behaviour
(totally worth it)

That’s lovely, I’m glad your superiority quotient has been filled on this day for you.

Which posts do you mean exactly?

Feel free to call them out. When asked the op said there weren’t actually any.

I don’t know if you’re being facetious or dim. The posts you’re looking for have been replaced with ‘Message deleted by MNHQ. Here's a link to our Talk Guidelines.’

I counted 5 before coming back to reply to this because I got tired of scrolling.

ha well yes best behaviour is a good idea, I’ll join you in that ;

I mean if you want to really get into it the problem isn't asylum seekers. The problem is men. The vast majority of violent people, across all races and nationalities, are male. That's the thing that binds Muslim terrorists and far right terrorists together.

The Mail et al should be leading with “Christian goes on rampage with knife”
Christian Church leaders should all be doorstepped by The Press to condemn the attack and all right minded Christians should be publicly saying how shocked and horrified they are. Any politicians who are also Christians, especially ones working in predominantly Christian communities should make it a priority to put out a statement offering sympathy to the victims and that this is not a brand of Christianity they recognise.

BBC R4 led with refugee stabs four - not exact wording but refugee was up front

It stood out to me as they don’t usually lead with that type of wording

Posts about mothers who kill their children. Like this one. They pop up from time to time and comments are always variations on a theme. ‘It’s a tragedy, but where was the support/she desperately needed help/only a mentally ill person could do this’.

But on this thread, you can’t discuss mental health but you can discuss ‘concerns’ about nationality and religion.

He was born in Al-Hasakah which was a town with a majority Christian population in Syria. His name is AbdelMessih, which literally means "servant of the Messiah". He was shouting "in the name of Jesus Christ" whilst carrying out the attack. When arrested he was carrying a Christian prayer book and a cross.

Why isn't this being called out for what it really is? A Christian terror attack. Why aren't the MSM reporting this? And why are some of the posters in this thread linking this to muslims and complaining about being called islamophobic?

It's interesting isn't it? When a Christian commits a terrible crime then "oh he isn't really a christian". If it's a muslim then it's "it's ALL because of his religion".

The hypocrisy is breath taking.

People who know him have said he is so how can you claim to know better?
And “these Middle Eastern Men”?? Really?

CheekNerveGallAudacityandGumption · 09/06/2023 12:14

To the PPs point about it mostly being men who commit awful crimes across the world:

I’m more interested in the ‘oh he’s come from a war zone so he’s traumatised’ people are taking. Perhaps, the reason he felt so comfortable stabbing little babies in prams is because, coming from a war zone, he’d killed before.

But, we won’t know will we, as Europe will let anyone in, no need for identification or a history of the kind person they are. The amount of atrocities and crimes carried out by people who have moved to Europe show that the safety of citizens is not a priority for our governments.

And before anyone says ‘well English people commit crime too’ I’d say yes they do, many men commit crimes. But that doesn’t mean we should import men en mass from war zones and countries with regressive attitudes to women and hostility to the U.K. as we are asking for trouble. How long until the next terrorist attack and the inevitable cry of ‘don’t look back in anger’ which is what we were all told to think about the Manchester bombing. A very odd response we were told to have to the mass slaughter of predominantly little girls.

I suppose because it's either refugee or Christian.

LangsNot · 09/06/2023 12:24

And they say 'Syrian asylum seeker' because they know people would leap to Islam and immigration faster than they will read the details to realise he's a Christian. This is what they want - the division and fighting.

Overthinkingnotdrinking · 09/06/2023 12:27

The liverpool maternity hospital bomber was originally reported in the press as a Christian. Funnily enough turns out he wasn’t in the end.

Or read the details and say that he’s only pretending to be a Christian

The BBC, particularly R4 are usually very careful. I’ve been listening for a long time and it was a sore thumb moment ie I thought that’s different, and also people won’t like that

Not everyone but their audience more likely not to like it

It could be true or not but without evidence, it's just conjecture at this point. We can only go with the facts of what we know, surely that's where we like to stand with other cases?

chilliplant634 · 09/06/2023 12:48

Do you really think that Christians around the world have English names like John and Stewart? No Muslim would ever call themselves Abdel Messih (or servant of the messiah). He has a very obviously Christian name for his region. He comes from a Christian part of Syria.

You just can't and won't accept the writing on the wall. LOL

These Christian fanatics rolls eyes. Their values just aren't compatible with ours.

chilliplant634 · 09/06/2023 12:50

You can go on YouTube and see plenty of Christian pastors exercising demons in the name of Lord Jesus Christ. So they do use this terminology.

Overthinkingnotdrinking · 09/06/2023 12:50

Yeah there are so many Christian terrorist attack. Scared to walk past the church on Sunday tbh

chilliplant634 · 09/06/2023 12:51

The point is that he was proclaiming his religion as a motivation. And now no-one wants to believe it.
