The chat appears to have gone quiet today after the last thread filled up, so I'm making a new one for anyone who wants to come together whilst we all hold our breath hoping for a good outcome.

I forget, did anyone manage to come up with a realistic theory to support "there's no evidence she was ever at the bench"?

How (and why) did the dog get to the bench if Nicola was elsewhere? Where was Nicola while unknown person was leaving her phone, dog and harness at the bench?

Yes - there are several theories but to post them here would be speculation and will get this thread deleted.

Thank you. My heart aches for her family, and I admire him trying to keep life normal for the girls
He must be broken inside
I just hope Police continue to investigate

Read this and look at pic of dog. This dogs coat won’t have appeared bedraggled to the eye 10/15 mins after frantic running. I say this from experience. Perhaps damp to the touch but not to they eye definitely.

The witness who found Willow tied her up with a piece of string. I think they may have noticed any dampness in the dog's coat.

That's the key question - why wasn't she found and hasn't been found in all subsequent searches if she entered the water at that point.

Her clothes. Initially I commented her level of clothing would drag her down. Some posters pointed out the down type coats add buoyancy which appears true. She was very slight the coats etc may have been enough to buoy her over weir and out on tide. Physics are required to calculate this but I’d say it’s possible.

Mygosh · 11/02/2023 18:29

I'm not sure if a body in the water could be found as easily as PF claims. Nicola could still be found. Personally, I believe an accident has occurred.

As for a red van, now, I'm not making any accusations here, but on the documentary last night, there was, what looked like, a red van visible outside the window. Did anyone else see it?

Then please do provide the calculations.

I didn't see it in the documentary but I saw a still image of it. I assumed it was photoshopped. Was it not?

It would be very far fetched to think that's the same van. In any case the police have not said anything about a van. It's just someone talking to the newspapers.

RoseFl0wers · 11/02/2023 18:33

I think it’s really horrible that the comments section of any article about Nicola (usually comments on fb) point fingers at the husband. They thought he was ‘sus’ when he didn’t speak to the media. People deal with grief in different ways. Some sob uncontrollably and some are in shock for days or even weeks so they don’t show much emotion. Then the same people think he is ‘sus’ when he does speak to the media because he doesn’t break down in tears for the cameras. The man is damned if he does damned if he doesn’t!

FrostyNethers · 11/02/2023 18:33

The thing that bothers me the most about this story is that this poor woman could have been abducted, held somewhere with horrific things being done to her, could maybe still be alive or could have been alive for days afterwards hoping someone would rescue her before she died.

Her falling in the river seems much less likely now (river started being searched within hours of her disappearance in calm conditions).

An abduction is much more plausible than a middle aged mother from a small village in Lancs doing a double agent act staging her disappearance and outwitting the police for 2 weeks.

ssd · 11/02/2023 18:33

Is it possible for boats to go down that river? Im just wondering is someone went past on the water, seen her alone and pretended to be in trouble, she's gone down the embankment to help and they grabbed her?

No, definitely not possible at the time.

ssd · 11/02/2023 18:34

Her family must be going crazy. I feel so sorry for them all.

Inlawfaithquestions · 11/02/2023 18:20

Can someone explain the bit about the harness being down the embankment? I’ve read it was next to the bench. Has that been corrected by someone?

Yes Paul said it last night on the Ch 5 interview program. He relays this info when he talks about school phoning him to say “it’s odd Nicholas phone has been found on bench and harness half way down embankment” or words to that effect.

ssd · 11/02/2023 18:36

Ah ok @BlBluebellwood129 , i dont have any knowledge of the area.
At least that's one theory they dont need to worry about.

TwilightSparklesLeftHoof · 11/02/2023 18:36

Does anyone know where the piece of string to tie the dog up came from? Seems a random thing to have found at the time it was needed and not something people carry when out and about under normal circumstances?!

This is exactly my thoughts and the thing that would seriously crack me up if I was her family. It must be beyond frustrating for them.

Crumpetdisappointment · 11/02/2023 18:37

I watched the programme via facebook youtube and there were so many wicked comments about Nicola's partner Paul
just appalling.

Oaktree55 · 11/02/2023 18:37

This to me changed whole balance of what’s likely happened. Spurious reporting of “on the ground” may well have been to keep all avenues open.

Crumpetdisappointment · 11/02/2023 18:38

he said the harness was on the embankment which convinces me she went down the embankment, and into the river.
i hope she is found soon.

The river in the vicinity wasn’t searched for hours after. Plenty of time to be washed over the weir if her clothing did add buoyancy.

For the person who mentioned Nicola leaving her phone on the bench upthread, I heard that the phone was found on the ground, along with the harness and that the finder put it on the bench. There's so many reports though I'm not sure what's true.

I just find it so weird that the phone and the harness were both found.

I'm known to be a bit clumsy myself, and stuff drops out of my pocket all the time, but it's not usually my phone AND something else. Usually just one or the other, and my phones practically glued to me these days.

I suppose it's still possible, it just seems improbable.

I hope there are some answers for the family. I wish the world would stop turning until they've got answers and closure.

Those wee girls ❤️

Thanks for signposting @ofwarren , thank you for a new thread @LoveMAFS .

I saw that YouGov did a survey asking

Missing mother‑of-two Nicola Bulley disappeared on 27 January as she was walking her dog. How closely are you following this story?
yougov.co.uk/topics/media/survey-results/daily/2023/02/09/2a8de/1

I was surprised why they would track interest in the story, any ideas?

No idea, but that is weird.
