The chat appears to have gone quiet today after the last thread filled up, so I'm making a new one for anyone who wants to come together whilst we all hold our breath hoping for a good outcome.

Well he probably thought he'd meet her coming back and then carry on as normal. I don't get why everyone thinks that's weird at all.

That’s really odd.

Nothing odd about it. YouGov surveys are done constantly on news stories particularly when it is something that goes on for days.

Crumpetdisappointment · 11/02/2023 18:46

am i not the first to say so @JaneJeffer

JaneJeffer · 11/02/2023 18:47

Maybe on here @Crumpetdisappointment but Twitter is full of it

Crumpetdisappointment · 11/02/2023 18:47

yes, it does make logical sense, he will make himself late for work going to find her i guess was his assumption

Crumpetdisappointment · 11/02/2023 18:48

oh thanks @JaneJeffer
i dont read twitter

And yet here you are, commenting.
AKA “ Halo polishing”

I think @otherwayup isn't alone in her perception.

The river in the vicinity wasn’t searched for hours after. Plenty of time to be washed over the weir if her clothing did add buoyancy.

It was low tide and the water level was low. Please provide evidence to support your statement 'plenty of time'. Police helicopters with thermal imaging were out the same day and found no evidence of a body.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 11/02/2023 18:50

I'm very concerned that a missing woman case can only be treated as suspicious with hard evidence. It seems the police's hands are tied without it and some of them may be equally frustrated. Who knows maybe they appealed to 700 drivers to try and find something that would allow them to change the nature of their enquiries. Extremely sad and desperate situation.

@Oaktree55 Why would Nicola be holding the harness at all?

I don’t think she went in the river firstly

but if she did, could it be she quickly placed the phone on the bench to keep it safe while she run after dog who was near the water trying to get the harness back on hence…

now I just read that back it’s sounds nuts lol
Idk

Thanks for the new thread.

i was thinking today that what could (must ?) have happened is after the field they went through the gate to the bench, she put her phone on the bench so she could hear the meeting, and started to put the harness back onto Willow as she is only normally off the lead in the fields which are enclosed . Naturally she must have had her back
to the gate and someone surprised her and forced her back that way. This seems as likely as ‘she fell in the water’ so I can’t understand why it’s not being given equal weighting. It explains the position of the phone and the harness being on the floor. It’s got to be someone very local so they knew a safe way to get her out.

Yes I agree . Today someone posted there are deep tidal parts of the river but they are in the middle so if she slipped down the bank it would be in the shallow section.

FrostyNethers · 11/02/2023 18:52

@Oaktree55 you seem to be very sure Nicola is in the river and have been very much for the police hypothesis and against Peter Faulding on other threads. Accusing him of trying to cash in on the publicity IIRC.

He seemed to be of the view that the river conditions would have meant Nicola wouldn’t have moved far from where it was suspected she’d drowned. Also lots of comments that her long quilted coat would have dragged her under rather than acting as a buoyancy aid when it was wet?

The area she is suspected of falling in was less than a metre deep at the river bank.

Are you suggesting she took a running jump into the river and propelled herself into the deeper middle of it?

Anontodayforhelp · 11/02/2023 18:52

Not photoshopped. Could be someone trying to stir trouble.

Also remember that there was no evidence of slipping on the bank.

Can I clarify, how long is the river and how much of it have they actually searched?

Obviously I know nothing more than anyone else however I live near a river I know some of the issues and as for PF scan expert he’s something of a maverick it seems. I’m not entirely sure why he’s behaving as he is but a lot of his behaviour is very unprofessional and goes against his obvious years of experience.

The depth of water is irrelevant if you hit your head or land face first and fill your lungs. People drown in shallower.

dawngreen · 11/02/2023 18:57

In the program it was said the woman could not unlock the mobile. And how can they tell whether the dog knocked the harness down the slope running back and forth agitated? Even if she fell in it was slow running and shallow. I would have expected them to find her considering they arrived quickly,

My phone remains unlocked if logged onto a Teams call. If still logged on when a call ends, participants receive a notification 10 minutes later and are disconnected a further 3 minutes after that.

In October though?

Mummapenguin20 · 11/02/2023 19:04

I hope there’s a update for her girls soon

dawngreen · 11/02/2023 19:04

They said that the woman who saw the phone said that she could not unlock it. Maybe she did not know how to unlock it just saying what they said.
