The chat appears to have gone quiet today after the last thread filled up, so I'm making a new one for anyone who wants to come together whilst we all hold our breath hoping for a good outcome.

LBC are the first news channel to run with the '2 men' story from The Sun

Caravan park..?

I wonder when they say CCTV shows NB didn’t leave do they mean they didn’t see her walking or that they’ve checked and accounted to all vehicles

I guess the police have probably watched The Bill as well.😂

liveforsummer · 11/02/2023 23:09

It's not a park and it had no CCTV. All CCTV coverage is incidental from nearby properties.

I'm confused as you referred to it as a park in the post I was replying to as has every other description I've seen about it. Loads of reports also about the particular site cctv being broken

One exit doesn't have CCTV - for this, they've written to the owners of 700 vehicles passing along the road to try to obtain dash cam footage so right now, they can't categorically state Nicola that didn't leave by that exit.

JustAGirlInACountrySong · 11/02/2023 23:10

2 suspicious men? so what makes them so suspicious?

pigsinoodies · 11/02/2023 23:11

liveforsummer · 11/02/2023 22:58

And let's explain that Allotment Lane leads from the main road down to Wyreside Caravan Park and is the nearest vehicle access to the gate/bench area.

So although the cctv in the park it's self was broken, the only access had working cctv that could show any vehicle or pedestrian entering/leaving that way. Is that correct?

It seems they have CCTV coverage of access by that route. And from what they've said they have similar random CCTV coverage from the Rowanwater site. That seems to be uncertain though, as it's claimed in various crappy newspapers that there's no coverage along the river past Rowanwater.

The route with no coverage at all is between the bench/gate area and the main road at the footbridge on Blackpool Lane/Garstang Road.

Who knows - maybe their behaviour or maybe because no one recognised them? Last night, Nicola's partner described it as an area where someone who wasn't local would be noticed.

Thank you. I’ve found the cctv thing unclear and don’t really get which is the exit not covered. Also, as I said what they actually mean when they say covered by cctv. That combined with saying in the 1st press conference she didn’t leave the river area 🙄

I was wondering that-the witness says they were acting suspiciously, I wonder what they were doing?! It could be just that they were strangers in such a small, close knit community.

This second blind spot keeps on cropping up. It's never been confirmed though from what I've seen, although I'm losing track....

The path behind the bench that she would have come down to access the fields (next to Wyresdale) has no CCTV.
There was a cctv camera focused on top field, from the Rowanwater site but for some reason, that isn't working. The cameras ON Rowanwater do work though.

Gramps52 · 11/02/2023 23:16

Just thinking back to “police speak” about third person involvement, and from personal experience in court, I was the first person and my wife was the second person. The Police are saying that there was no third person involvement !

Thank you. That makes things more clear. It seems unlikely anyone would take her down that public path. So my question about the cctv and any cars leaving is quite pertinent? Unless someone took her to the caravan park and didn’t leave.

Ah, misunderstanding I think. By 'park' you meant the caravan park, rather than the fields where people walk their dogs?

It's confusing exactly what CCTV is working at the caravan park - particularly as there's two caravan parks and the newspapers don't really distinguish between them.

Bluebellwood129 · 11/02/2023 23:20

@User435787532 I agree about that public path but I think the police are hoping to prove that she didn't leave alone via that route which would support their main hypothesis of accidentally falling into the river and probably provide a rationale for winding down the investigation.

Cherrysherbet · 11/02/2023 23:20

I can’t stop thinking about this poor woman and her family.
I hope she is found safe and sound. They all deserve a happy ending to this nightmare.

Sending lots of positive vibes their way 🤞🏻🤞🏻

That's exactly why it was an inappropriate phrase to use. Unless it was deliberate and appropriate, in which case I'd be speculating.

Bluebellwood129 · 11/02/2023 23:23

Apologies for the double post - I clearly need to go to bed. Thank you all for the discussion today. Nicola's friends and family remain in my thoughts.

My local paper had a report about two men 'acting suspiciously' because they always seemed to be in the same aisle as her as she went round Asda one day. 🤣

kirinm · 11/02/2023 23:25

A third party is anyone that isn't you. Or isn't Nicola in this particular scenario.

It isn't 'anyone that isn't you'. You're the first party. Who's the second party then?

I've been thinking about it though and maybe it's a purely grammatical construction in this case. The person talking is the first party. The 'victim' or subject is the second party. A perpetrator would therefore be a 'third party '.

It's possible I've half-remembered that from what someone else said last night because it doesn't quite feel like something I've rationalised myself. 🤣

So they are saying no-one else is involved.

Bluebellwood129 · 11/02/2023 23:32

I've just remembered about those early reports of two fishermen in the area the day before Nicola went missing - I wonder if it was those two men?

Me to, and I just want closure for her family.
The Police have to find this lady and I apologise in advance for my next words.
Alive or Dead but they must find Nicola and if they need assistance from other police teams from around the country then they need to bring every available officer in.
Nicola needs to come Home .
