the tent had 2 entrances. and the zip was left open, too high for Cleo to reach up to. so rules out her wandering to the blowholes or beach. nothing else there to interest a kid that much

but a potential abductor would have to take the chance of being caught and having nowhere to escape to to hide.

gardeninggirl68 · 20/10/2021 22:09

the parents are not suspects, neither is bio dad

Of course the parents are suspects, or people of interest, regardless of what the police have said to the media. The mother and boyfriend were the last to see the child, they are suspects.
FrownedUpon · 20/10/2021 22:14

Statistically it’s very likely to be someone known to her.

Windows01 · 20/10/2021 22:14

How would someone have know which tent and bedroom pod to go to in such a remote location in the middle of the night. Sounds so far fetched, I realise it has actually happened but it's very baffling.

Cleo Smith's father p, Daniel Staines, lives 1000km away from Canarvon, and the press have reported that he has been interviewed by the police where he lives. There is no suggestion that he has anything to do with her disappearance

I haven't read all of the coverage, but have the police confirmed that Cleo was ever even at the campsite?

olidora63 · 20/10/2021 22:26

I have been following this very sad situation. The campsite is very remote and I am worried that there was a weirdo hanging around who grabbed the opportunity to take her …absolutely harrowing 😣

Yes they have “technological confirmation” so assume she was caught on camera or something at some point
gardeninggirl68 · 20/10/2021 22:29

I don't see how they can be so certain about the height of the zip. The parents would have surely unzipped it to rush outside to look for her when they realised she was missing. In that situation, would you notice or remember how the door zip looked before you touched it yourself?

NumberTheory · 20/10/2021 22:32

Don't really understand why the zip being open high rules out her leaving under her own steam. Don't zips ride up if you get them open a bit and then just pull the fabric to the side?

Horrific and tragic whatever has happened, though.

When we used to camp with small kids we always zipped the tent so the zipper was at the top so they would have to wake us to go out for a wee etc. They probably know where it was.because its where it always is rather than specifically remembering where it was when they unzipped it if you see what I mean.

I don't know but assumed it was because the pull bit of the zip was at the top not the bottom.
