the police explained it

What was the explanation? I didn't see it in the articles I read.[/quote]
It was in the press conference broadcast

Don't like to share things from the Daily Fail usually but here you go.

@immersivereader

Just so odd that they didn't hear the tent unzip.
People who have been there have commented that the waves from the ocean can get extremely loud as can the wind and it can drown out sounds like zips and other rustling sounds.
fuckitbucket16 · 21/10/2021 00:59

I live in WA so have obviously been watching closely.

At first I thought she probably wandered off and drowned but with the new info with the sleeping bag I think she was taken.

I’m loathe to point fingers at the parents. Everyone pointed fingers at Lindy Chaimberlain too and look how that turned out.

The police have said there is "technological evidence" that she was there.

This thread is disgusting.

There is a family out there missing their child and you think its appropriate to point fingers and say your suspicious of people going through absolute hell like you're bloody columbo.

Can you imagine being in their shoes and knowing half the internet are talking about their horrific situation and blaming them? To see someone at their worst and then dive online to share your tingly spidey senses and inklings says a lot about you as a person.

I hope this thread gets pulled for speculation of an ongoing case.

Itsnotover · 21/10/2021 01:42

There are some other theories about her falling down a loo hole. But apparently with her sleeping bag gone it looks as if she was taken.

SpacePotato · 21/10/2021 01:43

Why is this story getting so much coverage over here?

Social media. Loads of people in the UK were sharing FB posts because they thought it had happened in Wales (Carnarvon)

Yep imagine if the internet had been around when Azaria Chamberlain was taken by a dingo. Lindy would have been treated even worse than what she was and that was bad enough.

All these people speculating and saying they would never do this that or the other or the parents aren't emotional enough or they're too emotional etc are forgetting one thing:
No one ever knows how they're going to behave/react during a traumatic experience. Maybe you're a calm person in normal circumstances but it doesn't necessarily mean you will be when you're experiencing something extremely traumatising.

As for the calmness/laid-back demeanour yes us Aussies are well known for this and we can be so laid-back at times we may as well be comatose but don't forget they are highly stressed (which affects everyone differently) they haven't slept for days, they have a baby to look after, they would have been questioned extensively by the police, they are being scrutinised by the media and every man and his dog in Australia and overseas, it's also highly likely they have been sedated --especially the mum. How exactly are they supposed to come across when experiencing all of this?

Itsnotover · 21/10/2021 01:59

@BiteySpears my point is, the mothers age was mentioned in a way that suggested that young parents are either irresponsible or dysfunctional which is not true.

I am not speculating on this case, I don't know anything about it. But by far the most dangerous person in any child's life is their stepfather/mum's boyfriend. By a long way. He is:

Male
Not related
In close proximity
Trusted

It's very sad but true.

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 21/10/2021 02:15

There's a time and place to be whipping out statistics.

On a thread about a little girl who's missing, and a family who are in shock and devastated is neither the time nor the place.

As for whoever said the mum seemed 'off' her little girl has just gone missing. I'm sure she will issue an apology that she didn't act exactly as you assume you would in due course Hmm

I bloody hate this shit, the minute a tragedy happens people start falling over themselves to say "I would never...." or start issuing blame without thinking about the consequences of that, which is this shit being in the internet forever, long after you've all had your gossip and forgotten about this child, the parents may well read this and see that a bunch of people on a parenting site is using their tragedy as though it's a game of cluedo.

These are real people.

I've seen it loads of times, about kids drowning, choking, being murdered even, people don't come on to sympathise, just to state they are better parents because XY and Z and slating others for every perceived slight as if all of us haven't had at least one 'here but for the grace of god' moment.

Its easy to be a perfect parent with hindsight.

Blaming people who are in shock and terrified for their child, and critiquing a mother on her demeanor when she is going through her worst nightmare is just bloody awful behaviour.

I really hope MN pull this thread and anymore that pop up like it.

salsmum · 21/10/2021 03:33

A little girl in rural America 'summer wells' has been missing for quite a number of months now she was only 4 those poor babies. 😢😢💔

MrsCardone · 21/10/2021 03:37

The problem is, these areas are so vast. How on earth do you look for someone? There was a case a few years ago where two men were killed on farmland. It was 2 years before the farm owner stumbled upon them.
