just read that too
And she has moved to Oz apparently just the other week!

CarmenerryChristmas · 03/12/2007 12:47

Well he would want to have a good excuse.........

LyraSilvertongue · 03/12/2007 12:48

His poor wife, grieving and then having to come to terms with his death, all for nothing.

mishymoo · 03/12/2007 12:49

Unless he has had amnesia (SP?), he has an awful lot of explaining to do!

presumably if she'd remarried that would now make her a bigamist?

or would the husband have to have been missing for a certain period of time before she could marry again?

It's just like Neighbours isn't it?!

Feel for the whole family. What do you do after all this time? Presumably she has moved on in many ways now.

Dying to know what he's got to say for himself .

TheQueenOfQuotes · 03/12/2007 12:57

There is always the possibility that he had mental health issues, depression etc, when he disappeared but of course we all just think the worst and call him names..

wannaBe · 03/12/2007 12:58

so if the body was never found, is it possible she could never marry again? am curious now.

also wonder if the wife would go back to him now that he's back, esp if he'd been suffering from amnesia so the disappearance wasn't deliberate. after presumably she'd moved on but may never actually have stopped loving him.

OK, QoQ .. we will, then

Desiderata · 03/12/2007 13:00

I think a person has to be missing for a period of time ... is it six years? .. then you can go off and marry someone richer/better looking, etc!

Which is what you should have done the first time around!

saffy202 · 03/12/2007 13:02

In cases like this I thought it was after 7 years that by law you can presume someone is dead and then you are free to marry, claim insurances etc. However it says that their houses were recently sold, which I would have assummed that they would be in both names.

Presumably she's sold the house that they lived in, so he has no assets left? Claimed to what she was entitled to as a widow? Were there any children?

SpacePuppy · 03/12/2007 13:05

"OMG imagine your husband disappearing, presumed dead and he turns up again 5 years later "

Won't need to will have my lawyer contact he's for the divorce papers. Then I'll sue him for alimony.

WaynettaSlob · 03/12/2007 13:05

I wonder if he had another woman and thought 'vanishing' was the best way to deal with it?
Funny how he's come back now, especially if the wife has moved to Oz recently

Of course it's just pure speculation on my part and may be unfounded......

Piffle · 03/12/2007 13:05

well apparently they owned two victorian terraced houses next to each other - one to live in, one to do up and sell and she has sold them both and emigrated
Timing very coincidental too

My apparently source is lie SKY news though
