Blimey, this flooding thing sounds scary

Tidal surge in E Anglia & Kent - possibly 2-3 metres

That's the worst possibility but still, it's very flat on the E Anglian coast, a small surge would go quite a long way.

Hope everybody there is ready to go if they have to!

Oh f*ck

Does anyone know when it's going to hit North norfolk?

Dh is windsurfing there today.

WendyWeber · 08/11/2007 17:30

It's this evening and overnight, gizmo - as he's there he'll probably know more about it than we will. (They don't windsurf after dark do they?)

I wouldn't put it past him

Phew. Just spoken to him. He's 11 miles south of the coast and heading home, although he only just made it off the beach, where the road was rapidly flooding. Yikes.

KashaSarrasin · 08/11/2007 17:32

Scary - hope it's a false alarm!

seb1 · 08/11/2007 17:33

Here is the link to Environ. Agency

WendyWeber · 08/11/2007 17:34

It sounds as if it's just the E coast of Norfolk - the Broads coast, down to Aldeburgh/Southwold, plus N Kent which sticks right out; N Norfolk is less exposed I think?

Highest water will be at 7am.

The warning for Kent isn't as bad as the E Anglian one, Fio, it says tides 5' above average - will that come into the town? How far from the beach are you?

Ledodgy · 08/11/2007 17:39

Blimey I hope it doesn't happen. Stay safe if you're nearby!

It's a flood watch in Kent, not a warning (or a severe warning)

Everything crossed for you, love XXX

PillockOfTheCommunity · 08/11/2007 19:07

My nan lives on the seafront in Lowestoft, right in the middle of that area. My gran is staying slightly further up the coast for the week, gran just called to say I should ring nan and check she is ok, I duly did as I was told (although as she's on 5th floor in a warden block of flats I wasn't too worried) and Nan said ooh, I just saw that on the news, where is it?

had to inform her that it was where she lives!
