There is a new one around here but I forget what it is. SIL who was a "LAC" health visitor is away I shall check on her return!

SWC- exactly ALL government depts seem to be OBSESSED with "targets" & "goals" which is all admirable but when you factor in Real Humans in all their flawed individuality it's difficult to tick the boxes, so people (ie children & families ) suffer.

Targets and goals are all about ticking boxes. They really are useless, because the whole of the work becomes geared towards the targets. It just means people massage the figures and sit back once they've reached their targets and stop working. They really are crap. And in a human / family context like adoption, they are utterly, utterly inappropriate. In sales context, yes, they're good. In contexts like health, education, social services, they are mostly too simplistic to be valid.

To be honest, I can not even begin to understand how they justify targets etc....in this sector....it really doesn't make sense to me whatsoever.
