I know a woman who glasses someone. They got pregnant as her solicitor told her it was a shame she wasnt pregnant as she would likely get off.

So she got pregnant and sent down anyway. It was an awful attack. Shevhad time with the child and then the child went to father. Not sure how long she got with the child. She came out and was reunited with the father and child. A few years later she left the father and took the child with her, moved the childs school and caused the child lots of upset.

She treats that child awfully. She is very vocal about the fact that the child is an inconvenience. But won't let the dad take her full time.

She has just been sent to prison again. For stabbing someone. Didnt get pregnant this time. The child is back at their first school, living with the father and thriving.

Turning up pregnant when you are going on trial isnt that unusual. In this case, had the mother have been found not guilty, I doubt the baby would have seen their first year. They were no longer useful.

What kind of man has sex with a woman and gets her pregnant when she is awaiting trial for murdering her two children?

You've never worked in Social Services have you ?

Don't worry love, I'll give you a baby says the bloke. Two people, both from train wreck families start a, 'train wreck' family all of their own.

It's a bit much to assume she was in a relationship. Plenty of men and women have one night stands........most aren't babykillers 🙄

I just feel sorry for the child, it's a shame that in some cases info can't be hidden and the child can't just be told that their parents are dead. There's a lot that can be said for the way things were done in previous years, they didn't always get it right but in some cases not knowing ones history is what needs to happen

ToEarly Not social work but I deal with crime and these types of people everyday. (Thankfully very rarely double baby killers)

So no, I’m not surprised as I see it every day but it still doesn’t cease to amaze me how flippant people will be about bringing children into the world.

Oh absolutely the effects reverberate down the generations. My father had a nervous breakdown when me and my siblings were kids- having children himself seemed to set off a lot of emotions he had hidden. To this day, and he’s had a lot of therapy and is much better than he was before he had his breakdown, he can’t bear to hear a baby cry. It makes him panicky and sweaty and sometimes he has to leave the room to cry himself. He says he can’t explain it, it just opens up some weird painful hole inside him.... he doesn’t know if it’s the memory of his own crying, of his siblings crying or what but it’s so sad to see how much it upsets him.

I also agree to a certain extent that forced sterilisation makes sense, but you’re treading a fine, Nazi-evoking line with that and even knowing the effects first-hand (well, second-hand) of terrible mothering, I’m uncomfortable with it.

@feelingverylazytoday I remember the Diane Downs case and I've just watched some of the interviews on YouTube. Seems to be a very similar personality to Porton. No empathy or maternal instinct. Callous, cold and evil.

The threshold for removing children from abusive parents is so high

Isn't that because being in "care" leads to such poor outcomes that the parents have to be apallingly bad before it becomes the better options. Of course that sometimes leads to tragedies like this.

Plus lack of money to properly fund services, social worker shortages, experienced social workers quitting and not being replaced, etc. etc. The system is in crisis.

Have you watched the movie about it, Betty.
I think it’s called Small Sacrifices
