I hope they arrestd the people who stromed in?!

Littleredboat · 26/04/2018 09:45

I imagine in some ways AH would love to find a way to move him out of their premises now.

Sadly I just can’t see how they will manage to do that safely.

Statements from the Father are still so contradictory. I don’t think he accepts Alfie is going to die at all, and perhaps that’s understandable.... but that fact, along with his previous angry and threatening outbursts, must surely mean Alfie’s safety couldn’t be guaranteed outside of AH. It was only yesterday a German air ambulance crew tried to smuggle a fucking ventilator in FFS.

The family have been so poorly advised by outsiders. They have surely wasted so many of their last days with him and have surely cut off their best hope of getting him home.

It’s all just wretched. So sad and depressing and awful.

GherkinSnatch · 26/04/2018 09:45

I'd hope they were able to take him home too, but I think it would be a task to organise it - AH have legitimate concerns about the safety of their staff, and I think a hospice could have similar concerns.

@Elliss2018

"It's unusual for cpr to work once let alone three times! Without a defib anyway"

They may be talking simply about respiratory arrest, which would be much simpler. Especially in a child.

Mightymucks · 26/04/2018 09:47

The risk with AE going home is the parents might take him to Italy. I doubt they care about consequences at a time like this.

That’s pretty much impossible. No pilot or professional air ambulance crew are going to illegally take someone out of the country and he wouldn’t get him through an airport.

Besides, the logistics of landing a helicopter and Alfie’s medical equipment mean it would be impossible to get him in to a helicopter unless it landed on a hospital helipad. It would mean a park or field. There would be police around to observe if they went anywhere like that and they could prevent them entering.

Plus there would be police and medical staff around the home anyway, it’s not like they’d just be left.

It struck me as extremely odd to the point of maliciousness that the hospitals lawyers even suggested that was a possibility.

fenneltea · 26/04/2018 09:49

Exactly Raven, it isn't always quick.

It's interesting that euthanasia actually means 'good death', I've said it before but I'd want my child to have access to all the pain relieving and sedative drugs going if it made things easier for them, just as I would for myself. If that hastened the inevitable then so be it; the difficulty is that they refuse to accept that there is anything wrong with Alfie.

GherkinSnatch · 26/04/2018 09:50

It struck me as extremely odd to the point of maliciousness that the hospitals lawyers even suggested that was a possibility.

My understanding was that it was Justice Hayden who asked if there would be a possibility of him going home - AH discussed it and came back saying it would take 3-5 days to organise, but because of the nature of the relationship between the family and the hospital staff, it would be "impossible" to facilitate as things stood.

stressbucket1 · 26/04/2018 09:50

It would be lovely if he could spend his last moments at home however I feel that the behaviour of his father and the army have made it almost impossible. Considering there were appeals for cpap machines and defibs yesterday I'm not sure the child's safety could be guaranteed. The worst case scenario would be aggressive resuscitation in his last moments. I'm don't see how he can be safeguarded outside of a hospital setting.

Elliss2018 · 26/04/2018 09:51

Thanks Lougle.

KoshaMangsho · 26/04/2018 09:52

I think the not going home has to do with the safety of the staff looking after Alfie at home. Given they were described as smug on morning TV and murderers earlier you can see why they wouldn’t be willing to place themselves in a more vulnerable situation.

I suspect moving off PICU to a ward might be more reasonable. But they might also want clarity on what happens if he arrests again etc. And the parents keep resuscitating and demanding more intensive treatment. And what happens if the Hospital says no.

CakeOfThePan · 26/04/2018 09:53

I can't help thinking a hospice would be the best place for him, they will be able to support alfie as he deteriorates. Theres also less of the 'flight' risk. It will be calm and supported without the breakdown of communication. It will also stop the intervention.

Theres been a wonderful bit on Victoria Derbyshire, with a lovely lady who had to make that awful choice for her daughter.

I tried to talk to DH last night about it but he didn't want to know, as his Facebook feed is full of it and so is the news. So i had a look and his Facebook is full of his friends who are now part of the army. It got me thinking how the army has come about, now i heard about it and googled the judgement and drew my own conclusions. But if i had already come across authorities and been affected badly by them, e.g benefits cuts, police issues, social services involvement, school issues, had their own issues with hospitals or doctors. I could believe what was written without doing my own research, I could believe there is a conspiracy I wouldn't question its wrong, because they were wrong about me, . The people who are part of Alfies army on DH's Facebook each have had their own issue with 'authorities' so i can see how there is a blind belief that they would purposefully hurt a little boy.

KoshaMangsho · 26/04/2018 09:53

I wasn’t aware that the hospital lawyers said they would abscond. I think they said it would take a sea change in the relationship. Which after this morning’s pronouncements isn’t going to happen.

Samcro · 26/04/2018 09:53

the going "home" bit has me confused. surely a child of that age who has been in hospital most of their short life will the hospital will be "home" what could be gained by moving him to a strange place?

catinboots9 · 26/04/2018 09:53

"you should get pride of Britain award"

"Can't you sue Judge Haydn?"

"If Diana was still alive she would intervene"

Just the first three little gems I've seen on the AA page this morning.

catinboots9 · 26/04/2018 09:55

I despair

Zoflorabore · 26/04/2018 09:55

Unbelievable! Delete my post but it doesn't change my opinion.
Seriously despair.

MynameisJune · 26/04/2018 09:55

My concern with him going home would be that they would resuscitate him as many times as they liked prolonging the end in direct contravention of the EOL care. That they wanted a defib and cpap means they are willing to do this in a hospital, let alone at home when not under observation.

I'm glad that the tone of this thread is so different than the previous ones.

I'd said a few days ago that it was evident that Tom had "lost the plot" and given that, I think it should have been handled differently.

I came off the thread yesterday because of the lack of compassion and I was accused the day before of spouting emotional drivel. Because watching TE was becoming so difficult. I'm glad to see that there has been a crack down on attacking Alfie's family. And it's being recognised that it isn't the Army spurring this on. Doctors from the US have now joined in.

I was outside AH last night, getting off one bus to get another. I'm disabled and couldn't do a different route, without there being walking.

There is a very different Vibe. It's one that accepts they are there for a dying toddler. There is one main vocal person, who tends to start the singing off, but it isn't as loud or as close as it was.

I think that when this is over, there should be serious questions asked of the Media and other organisations of the part they've played in giving out false information.

I think the whole situation is a shambles. I say that as someone whose worked in end of life Care and CP. What is being allowed is horrendous for everyone.

MynameisJune · 26/04/2018 09:56

Copied from the AA page

Good morning everyone,I’ve had a few messages this morning from members quite upset about the way Alfies army is being portrayed in the MEDIA ,I just wanted to say please ignore do not let there lies upset you, things we are being accused of we all no is NOT TRUE but seems the media like to twist things to make it look bad whilst ignoring what’s actually going on with poor beautiful Alfie, they seem feared to report the truth and the failings of this little boy so instead they turn the news towards his army.
We have and always will be a army of people who have come together to fight for a little boy who we believe deserves a chance, love and support for Alfie and his family is what we do and no amount of negative media will change this.
Everyone stay strong, stay caring keep fighting for Alfie James Evans 💙💜💂

Is TE the only one in denial?

fenneltea · 26/04/2018 09:57

That would be my concern too Myname I think he would just end up a tortured little body god love him.

Birdsgottafly · 26/04/2018 09:57

kissthealderman, lets face it, she would, just to stir shit up.

EB123 · 26/04/2018 09:57

If there was some acceptance of the situation from the parents/family then going home would be a kind option. I haven't seen any acceptance though just calling the hospital liars and murderers, posts on facebook askimg for people to bring things to the hospital and that Alfie is fine and fighting.

Zoflorabore · 26/04/2018 09:57

Thanks MNHQ for deleting my post that spoke about 2 of my teenage friends dying at AH, I've never spoke about that before and in 2 minutes- gone.

Oh wait, was it the respect issue? Of course it was.
What happened to opinion? I don't think my post was nastyConfused
