Good one Jammy, was just going to suggest a new thread.

amidaiwish · 05/05/2007 14:22

Oh, you read my mind.
that last thread was getting so annoying.
why don't these judgemental people go and look after their children instead of sitting on mumsnet if they're so bloody righteous?

allieBongo · 05/05/2007 14:23

right, now I'm at work until 5 so i need regular updates please

donnie · 05/05/2007 14:25

did someone say there is now a prime suspect? does that mean she is definitely alive?

HenriettaHippo · 05/05/2007 14:27

thank you. NO point in being holier than thou.

Blu · 05/05/2007 14:28

so...on to the updates?

misdee · 05/05/2007 14:29

bbc bews

LynetteScavo · 05/05/2007 14:34

That report has given me some hope.

FrayedKnot · 05/05/2007 14:34

They must have had contact from the abductor surely to make a statement about the fact that they think she is being held somehwere and knowing roughly where / how far away it might be?

LIZS · 05/05/2007 14:35

Completely agree - now is not the time.

thelittleElf · 05/05/2007 14:35

Apparently the police have a suspect in mind, but nothing more than that has been said so far . So their treating it as an abduction. I did hear earlier, that a couple had been spotted carrying a young child up a road, but they weren't stopped. I'm guessing this happened before the alarm was properly raised?

ruty · 05/05/2007 14:36

wish there was more definite and hopeful news.

smugmumofboys · 05/05/2007 14:40

Was there nothing on the on-the-hour news? Didn't see it. Have been following on here, desperately hoping to hear good news.

Chirpygirl · 05/05/2007 14:40

I haven't posted yet as I found the other thread thoroughly distasteful. I feel so bad for her poor family. And it must be worse for them being in a strange place with different procedures to the UK.

Was discussing after this new 'abduction' theory came out, the parents have just bought a new house have they not? That's despicable if it is a kidnapping but in a way I hope it is as she is much more likely to come through physically unharmed.

Fingers crossed.

sandcastles · 05/05/2007 14:43

Well, after following the other thread all the way & now this one, I must go to bed...but I almost don't want to...don't want to miss anyhting!

Thank you everyone for your updates.

Please God.......let there be good news when I wake up!!!

McDreamy · 05/05/2007 14:45

Such an awful story, her poor parents and poor Madelaine! Have any of you told your children, DD heard the story on the radio on the way to town this morning so we've had to have a chat. She is very sad for the little girl

AitchTwoOh · 05/05/2007 14:47

is she actually called maddie, then? i thought it was madeleine? Denise Bulger hated the appropriation of her son James as the altogether cuter, more vulnerable 'Jamie'.

AbbyLou · 05/05/2007 14:48

It said on the news Madeleine known as Maddie.

AitchTwoOh · 05/05/2007 14:49

hhhm, the parents called her madeleine in the press conference. and i thought the aunt did too.

frenchleave · 05/05/2007 14:49

My DDs (9 and 7) saw part of a news report last night and asked what had happened to her. I told them the basics and it made for a very nervous bedtime that brought out all manner of fears.

cupcakes · 05/05/2007 14:56

My ds (6) saw her on the news and has asked about her.
I think it's the first time I've ever had to explain a news story to him.
He of course is convinced she'll be fine.

I was resigned to hearing the worst this morning but now my hopes have been raised and I keep checking the news, hoping for a breakthrough.

AbbyLou · 05/05/2007 15:01

There are pictures on Sky News website of the rest of the family walking round the resort. They are heartbreaking. The other children look old enough to be asking about their sister. What on earth must the parents be saying to them? How are they managing to keep going for the others? It is almost unbearable to watch.

scatterbrain · 05/05/2007 15:02

Ah found you !!

My dd keeps asking me if they've found her yet, what are the bad people doing to her etc. It's hard - but I've told her the truth. She is very worried ! So am I though.

Glad the British police have got there now. At least we know they know what to do.

scatterbrain · 05/05/2007 15:07

hmmmm - british police on sky now - saying that they don't think they actually have a "name in the frame" just a picture of what the person loks like - so not quite a "suspect"
