Please sign this petition to try and prevent the defunding of women’s refuges

Earlier today it was revealed that, during 2016, 78 women women were murdered in the UK by their current or ex-partner. SEVENTY EIGHT

39 of those women had children under the age of 18.
3 of them were pregnant.

This week the Government will be voting on legislation that will impact massively on the funding of women’s refuges. If the changes go ahead many refuges will be forced to close due to lack of funds.

The thing is it’s cuts by the backdoor. Of course no one would vote to remove funding from the refuges, but it’s the changes in housing benefit and who it can be paid to that will result in them losing funding.
