I think anyone who voted Labour in the last election is complicit in murder

Because you knew Tony Blair lied and lied and lied to get us into that war, and now children are being killed every day, and bodies are piling up in the streets. I think he is the most vile, wicked and contemptible man in Britain. How can he sleep at night? I feel so ashamed he is our prime minister.

What a bloody pointless and irritatingly arrogant and self-indulgent (You are all evil, look at me, paragon of virtue) thread.......has made me very angry.

Nightynight · 14/04/2007 21:20

yellowrose - I once did a very interesting study of where the power lies in the UK. to reach a conclusion, look at how power has shifted during british history from the norman conquest onwards. the 2 most significant moments of our history possibly magna carta and the rather overlooked glorious revolution

Nightynight · 14/04/2007 21:22

oh come on, Aloha was letting off steam, she wasnt saying that she is a paragon of virtue! Personally I would have inserted the words "or Tory" into the thread title

SenoraPostrophe · 14/04/2007 21:25

nightynight: what about the shift of power from civil servants to politicians under Thatch, and to the media and "special advisers" under Blair? I think those are very significant (at least, the shift towards the media and advisors under Blair is - too young to remember much about thatch other than the hate).

Lizzylou · 14/04/2007 21:26

NO, just constant reminders of how anyone who voted labour basically dismembered children and she voted lib dem, so she was without guilt. Nice.

I have read the thread and got really annoyed with the arrogant spouting of naive teenage ideologies and then the bullish ignorance of anyone else's view points.

SenoraPostrophe · 14/04/2007 21:28

excellent well balanced argument there, Lizzielou. why don't you throw in a comparison to Hitler for good measure?

yellowrose · 14/04/2007 21:29

Nighty - i must say my knowledge of british history is pretty poor (i did politics at uni. but very little british stuff, it was mainly international), but go on, tell us where does the power lie ? i am still confused !

does someone (other than Bush !) pull TB's strings ?

Lizzylou · 14/04/2007 21:31

Cheers SP (it's Lizzylou, BTW)

yellowrose · 14/04/2007 21:32

come on ladies now, be good children

yellowrose · 14/04/2007 21:34

oh, do you mean special advisers, people like that bastard campbell, etc ? who has taken over campbell's job by the way, doesn't seem to be doing as good a job with spin, etc ?

giddyfeet · 14/04/2007 21:34

Aloha - Tories have also said they would have gone to war too. It wouldn't have made any difference in Iraq. Labour are the lesser of two evils.

Lizzylou · 14/04/2007 21:35

SP, I was more annoyed by the blanket dismissal of others' views and thoughts than anything else in this thread, the blind refusal to see another's viewpoint. How on earth does that make me fascist?

SenoraPostrophe · 14/04/2007 21:36

yellowrose: yes, but there are hundreds of others, none subject to any kind of scrutiny or discipline whatsoever. It's an absolute scandal imo.

sorry, Lizzylou. I was responding in kind to your rather uneccesarily offensive post. I shouldn't have.

SenoraPostrophe · 14/04/2007 21:37

I didn't say you were fascist, btw. I suggested you call Aloha fascist to add to the other insults.

Lizzylou · 14/04/2007 21:41

If my posts are deemed offensive then I am sorry, they weren't meant that way at all, but the tone of the OP and whole post have been far from "hearts and flowers", I think you'd have to agree.
I never ever lose my rag on MN,(rarely post tbh ) but tonight this thread has really riled me.

yellowrose · 14/04/2007 21:42

oh god how depressing SP !

someone else did compare Saddam to Hitler which made me go

it is NEVER a good idea putting labels on people

Heathcliffscathy · 14/04/2007 21:43

wow.

massive non argument but rather name calling here.

i wonder why that would be?

yellowrose · 14/04/2007 21:44

any way, good night all, off to watch tv and no doubt get more depressed when i watch the news

yellowrose · 14/04/2007 21:45

it is ok sophable, they have kissed and made up

Eowyn · 14/04/2007 21:46

I never get involved in this kind of thread, but the title has to be the most annoying/stupid/infantile I have ever come across on MN in many many years.
Since wasting half the morning reading it I have been pissed off all day, which at least gave DH a break from my wrath.
I didn't vote Labour as it happens, for local reasons rather than national.
It is just such a silly assertion from a supposedly intelligent person.

electra · 14/04/2007 21:50

lizzylou has a point. The thread title is inflammatory and is bound to upset people in the same way as the "formula is junk" thread.

SenoraPostrophe · 14/04/2007 21:52

she could just have said that though.

The wording of the title is inflamatory, I agree, but not a million miles from the truth.

electra · 14/04/2007 21:55

That's a matter of opinion though isn't it SP? It's a complex issue and I am somewhat troubled by the lack of reasoned arguments by the op and ignoring of other people's pov. It does rather feel like a deliberate attempt to pick a fight and that's not nice - nor is it in the spirit of mumsnet dare I say.

yellowrose · 14/04/2007 21:55

eowyn - when you see over 370 posts, never waste you day reading it - once it gets to over 50 posts it ALWAYS ends in tears ! and i know that even though relatively new to MN !

Lizzylou · 14/04/2007 21:59

Electra, thankyou, you are much more eloquent than I, that was my point entirely, but too much white wine rendered me unable to express myself adequately

Am off to bed now before I embarrass myself further.
