I think anyone who voted Labour in the last election is complicit in murder

Because you knew Tony Blair lied and lied and lied to get us into that war, and now children are being killed every day, and bodies are piling up in the streets. I think he is the most vile, wicked and contemptible man in Britain. How can he sleep at night? I feel so ashamed he is our prime minister.

and if you vote tory, again you are complicit... so not just a labour problem...

Aloha · 13/04/2007 20:50

I didn't vote Tory. I didn't vote for the murderous, illegal war. I have no responsibility for the Iraqi men, women and children murdered by our sleazy, lying, contemptible leader.

And let's face it, they didn't start it.

foxinsocks · 13/04/2007 20:52

that would be everyone who voted for anyone other than the libdems and marginal parties then really

DrNortherner · 13/04/2007 20:53

Aloha, I feel any party in any colour in government at teh same time would have done exactly the same thing.

saltire · 13/04/2007 20:54

It could be worse, we could have GW Bush in charge!

Aloha · 13/04/2007 20:56

I don't think so. Tony Blair is right up that fundamentalist fascist George Bush's arse. They was no need for this war at all. He did it for Bush. It was disgusting.
I honestly don't know how people sleep at night if they voted for murder.
this is what you voted for

OP posts:
Aloha · 13/04/2007 20:57

We do have GW Bush in charge, of course we do.

Aloha I really did not need to see that photo thank you.

foxinsocks · 13/04/2007 20:57

oh I dunno - about any party doing the same thing. The Lib Dems almost certainly wouldn't have done, I reckon.

I always thought it was quite amazing that roughly 70% of the vote went to Labour and the Tories and people must have known they were both pro-war when they voted (meaning that 70% were for the war).

Aloha · 13/04/2007 20:58

I think we need to see what OUR government is doing in OUR name. If you don't like it, do something about it.

beckybrastraps · 13/04/2007 21:01

The Tories helped to start it by supporting the Labour government. Had there been more opposition, who knows? But the Tories diagreeing with both war and the US? Was never going to happen...

oh and margaret thatcher blowing up the belgrano

speedymama · 13/04/2007 21:05

Well how about indicting the PM who took us into WW2? How many people died in that war?

As for Iraq, no matter who was in power, it would have happened. Had they secured the country properly after the fall of Sadam and the Baath party, things would have turned out a lot differently.

What is happening now is tragic and efforts must continue to support the Iraqi people who want to determine their own future. Also, those elements in and outside of Iraq who are responsible for the bombings and efforts to destabilise the country should be held accountable for their actions. TB and Dubya are not instructing these murderers to blow up innocent people whilst they shop at the markets. Lay responsibility where it belongs.

SenoraPostrophe · 13/04/2007 21:05

the abstention rate at the last election was very high though. less than 50% of the population voted labour or Tory I think?

which I find slightly reassuring.

I wonder how Blair sleeps too. I think there must be a psychiatric condition which enables politicians to believe their versions of events. no other bugger does anyway.

harpsichordcarrier · 13/04/2007 21:06

Aloha, you know it is a lot more complicated than that.
Anyone who didn't support the war was complicit in Saddam Hussein's continued acts of barbarism, torture, occasional genocide and yes murder?
would you be able to agree with that?

Aloha · 13/04/2007 21:06

Tony BLair is a proven liar, whose lies took us into an illegal war. We all knew that at the last election. So yes, I stand by my original statement.

DrNortherner · 13/04/2007 21:06

WEll said speedy

beckybrastraps · 13/04/2007 21:08

I find it very far from reassuring that so few people voted in the last election.

But I have been here on another thread this evening so I'll leave it...

SenoraPostrophe · 13/04/2007 21:08

speedymama - ww2 wasn't based on a lie, and was in response to military aggression by another country. If Saddam had invaded, say, Turkey, then I may not have been all for the war but I would have understood the argument and even considered voting for the party which took the decision.

But he didn't invade anywhere.

southeastastra · 13/04/2007 21:08

gawd all politicians lie

Aloha · 13/04/2007 21:09

And the supervision of Saddam had kept him virtually powerless for years. The genocide had happened with British weapons ffs. It was our scumbag, lying, excuse for a human being, child-murdering prime minister who overturned the effective supervision of Saddam, and turned a liveable society into a nightmare world in which the KEY thing that women ask for to improve their lives is not to have to ask their children to step over rotting corpses on their way to school.

OP posts:
bozza · 13/04/2007 21:09

Aloha I sort of agree with you. And I did vote labour, but as a vote to stop the conservatives getting in. I was probably wrong. I think it is hard though, to work out where your convictions lie these days, when all the parties have moved so I should have voted Libdem or Green really but which one would have got in?

You are saying that we should all have voted on a single issue. Maybe you are right because hundreds and thousands of innocent children being killed is a pretty big issue. I think though that a lot of people were (despite the protests etc) in favour of the war initially.
