BurnTheBlackSuit Surely BJ would want to be PM in a few years time, I'm under the impression Theresa May is being forced by her party to stay as the leader.

Also regarding documents, it wouldn't surprise me that the reason the council has been nowhere to be seen is because shredders have being working overtime.

HoldBackTheRain · 18/06/2017 09:25

RJ might have lived there since she was 14 but she didn't live in Grenfell.

So angry I can't say anything else Angry

CaveMum · 18/06/2017 09:28

I thought RJ had very different political views to Boris? She was a Remainer during the referendum and has been vocally critical of him in the past. I'm not sure she'd be saying these things to increase his chances of becoming leader, more that she's just an idiot.

HandbagKrabby · 18/06/2017 09:29

So many people are doing it. People being mean to TM is the thing to focus on, not the people that are suffering and have died.

Those missing babies! Where is the outrage? I'm so angry about the general apathy in the media about the loss of life.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 18/06/2017 09:29

Boris was a Remainer, he was using Brexit as a political tool. He expected Leave to lose and he could come across as the lovable Boris who had the UK's best interest at heart.

TheBogQueen · 18/06/2017 09:33

These wealthy commentators ... it shows the gulf between them and the people living in and around Grenfell.

NameThatPrune · 18/06/2017 09:36

I agree Captain on a moral level how can Rachel Johnson equate the PM with a victim of the fire. What a void of human understanding.

RJ putting out that the fire brigade had any kind of safety responsibility for the tower set up is very worrying. My understanding is that responsibility was removed from the fire services for this some while ago and well before the building was re-clad.
This is not a time for wrong facts.

mrsglowglow · 18/06/2017 09:41

These commentators and politicians and government officials. Very wealthy and not suffered one bit under austerity. I really think they spout all these lies to make themselves feel better about their selfish lives. If they keep saying it they actually believe it instead of the true scene. It helps them sleep at night. They make me sick.

Eve Allison, a Conservative who sits on Kensington and Chelsea Borough Council, said the refurbishment of Grenfell Tower should have looked at the inside as well as the outside of the block.

“It is on our watch, it’s our responsibility, we do have a duty of care to all our residents and whatever findings and failings come out, they have to come out soon because all the community, the victims, the families, people need answers,” she told BBC Breakfast.

“All too often we’re a little bit too concerned with how the immediate streetscape looks, how a building fits into other buildings, does it detract from the immediate streetscape.”

“I was not involved with the actual planning of the recent refurbishment....from what I’m hearing, it would have been ideal if part of the refurbishment package had looked at actually trying to gentrify inside, not just outside. “

Good on her for coming out and saying it -but Christ almighty. Shock

x post.
MrsGlow Flowers for the nursery. It's incomprehensible.

thereallochnessmonster · 18/06/2017 09:59

I was talking about the fire with dh last night. We can 't understand how the small fridge fire spread outside to the cladding so quickly. Can anyone shed light on that?

TheWitchAndTrevor · 18/06/2017 10:03

I think I read somewhere that the fridge was next to/under the window?

mrsglowglow · 18/06/2017 10:18

Thebogqueen, finally, finally an acknowledgement from someone at kcbc of the truth.

Dowser · 18/06/2017 10:23

I watched Andrew marr interview Philip Hammond this morning.
He gave him quite a grilling.
Did anyone else watch.

He asked him how he voted ( sorry I'm a bit woolly on the name but it was to do with housing regulations I believe and a proposal to implement something to make something better)

AM.how did you vote
PH I don't know
AM you voted no

Am trying to pin down PH on fitting sprinklers in buildings and schools
PH..not sure that fitting sprinklers retrospectively will help.
After the inquiry we will do what is necessary.

I'm shouting at the telly, that's willtake two years at least.

Maybe someone can watch and fill in gaps.

About half way through.
Keir starmer was on and a lady called Pilgrim

Eppia · 18/06/2017 11:08

I'm very much hoping the fact that there are missing babies and toddlers from the nursery is mostly due to their homeless and traumatised parents not being in a position to send their children to nursery (and no doubt not wanting to let them out of their sight) rather than the dreadful alternative. I imagine informing the nursery of their absence hasn't been top of parents' priority lists in the current chaotic situation, although I really hope the nursery hears good news soon.

WTAAF · 18/06/2017 11:13

Regarding the 15 missing children - I expect that families will be keeping their children very close and not sending them to school or nursery at the moment. I'd also think that informing the school/nursery will be low on their priorities so I wouldn't read too much into the report from the Sun (?) just yet

BeyondStrongAndStable · 18/06/2017 11:18

Plus if the parents are injured, I doubt it's the priority of whoever is looking after their children to send them to nursery.

CFSKate · 18/06/2017 11:18

I'm sorry, I haven't been able to read the whole thread, but could anyone tell me if this is true, it seems unlikely, but I would like to know. Someone on twitter is claiming that if someone jumped from the building and died from the fall, it would not be counted as a death by fire. Is this really the case? Here's the tweet.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/06/2017 11:19

Given the nursery was actually in Grenfell Tower it won't be open; it's possible that they had contact details held externally and have been trying to get in touch with people but they may only be guestimating that number for the nursery kids.

MrsWombat · 18/06/2017 11:20

I'm assuming the nursery is closed due to it being in the actual building. Hopefully the "missing" children are safe and the parents have bigger things to worry about than informing a nursery they know is closed anyway.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/06/2017 11:22

CFSKate, there's been a few times when the police have stated that the total dead includes people who jumped. They were the first to be recovered.

Now how that feeds in to annual fire stats and so on I don't know.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 18/06/2017 11:26

God, I'm gonna have to write something really difficult here, but I don't feel I can leave it unsaid - so I understand that it may be deleted as being out of the spirit of mn :(

Regarding "lots" of body bags that keeps being quoted... any individual human "evidence" (trying not to be graphic here) found will have to have its own individual bag. It's not necessarily as simple as one bag per person

Saucery · 18/06/2017 11:31

Ahh no, Beyond, difficult as you say, but true.

lobsterface · 18/06/2017 11:39

How horrible.

Did anyone hear the man on LBC saying the protesters were making things more difficult for him?

Mummylin · 18/06/2017 11:41

Could they maybe moved to news ?
