Right, I give up. I have repeatedly said that the cladding looks to have been the cause of the fire, but the enquiry will look at every angle, included tenant behaviour.
Unfortunatly, a couple of pp are completely ignoring what I actually said and are projecting their own agenda on to my posts.
Crack on.

My understanding of the flammable nature of the cladding is not that it's like paper (so only takes a little flame to light it) but that it's melting/burning point is fairly low. I was therefore assuming that the fridge fire had caused a decent amount of flames/heat out of the window of the flat which had enough heat and time for the cladding to catch fire. Although apparently the cladding was attached to the building using wood, so maybe it was that which caught fire first.

Re 180 - there are identical blocks similarly clad within a few hundred yards. I would hope they'd have been offering alternative homes to these residents - it must be torture looking out of your window and seeing that tower.

Given the Incompetence of the council I suspect that nothing so obvious has been done and it's ad-hoc

Re cath's wibbling about contributory behaviour from the residents - its utter tosh - the whole block was alight very quickly - virtually every resident would have had to be misbehaving thats just obnoxious

From the Belfast Telegraph Towers' management company received enforcement notices from fire brigade following a blaze at a neighboring high rise

''Following a fire at Adair Tower, put down to arson, Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation (KCTMO) was ordered by London Fire Brigade to provide self-closing devices “on all flat front doors and to improve fire safety in the escape staircases”.

"Fire authorities also issued the same enforcement notice for the nearby Hazelwood Tower, according to KCTMO’s latest published accounts."

How ironic that cathf is determined to play the victim after blaming the victims of Grenfell.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 20/06/2017 18:02

I don't understand what cathf thinks the victims could have done to contribute to the fire :s

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/06/2017 18:10

It always happens, I'm afraid; someone takes it on themselves to decide what the overall narrative must be, and anyone who departs from it in the slightest way - no matter how sensible their point or how well it's phrased - is instantly attacked

Please don't let it put you off, though ... there are still some of us who understand enquiries have to look at everything, without wishing to "blame" the victims of this horror

Apparently keeping fire doors closed would have stopped the fire coming in the windows.

Grenfell Tower Firefighters extinguished original blaze "and were just leaving when flats erupted in flames"

Not too dis-similar from the Royal Clarence Hotel fire in Exeter last November, when the brigade were tweeting at 9am in the morning that the fire was out and crews were leaving the scene (the original fire in the gallery next door), then suddenly the building next door (the hotel itself) flared up and blazed out of control for over a day, ultimately collapsing.
