New thread beacuse Bunglie needs the existing ones to be temporarily archived (and the last one was getting so-o-o-o-o long...)

OP posts:

I have been out of the country working for a few months. I am so glad things seems to be looking up for you Bunglie.
I am going to spend some time catching up on your thread and will post later.
I do hope that Suday goes well and it all sounds very positive to me.
Back later when I have had a chance to catch up.

Jimjams · 17/06/2004 16:13

She will be in the middle of them Bunglie. They'll finish soon depending on the subjects......

Jimjams · 17/06/2004 16:24

I've missed out on a lot of this. Can someone email me (aloha?- as you have my address) and tell me who to write to and what about.

The southall case has disgusted me. (ds1 is prone to nosebleeds- as I was as a child- had my nose cauterised by 4). Never called an ambulance in my life. How ridiculous. Anyway with ds1 being autistic as well I know how close it gets to "there for the grace of god go I" when it comes to MSBP.

So I am very happy to write to whoever- I know of other mothers affected as well.

cheers beetroot- I will try and adapt.

Bunglie · 17/06/2004 23:02

Oooooooh- Thanks for that Jimjams
I am all aquiver! I just had a phonecall from the af, they are coming at 12.30. I sugesteded that we go out for a meal and he agreed that would be a good idea. But, and there is always a but, he said he has to get back to watch the football! I am not a sports fan so I know nothing about it (except I keep seeing cars with england flags flying from their windows!) So I assume it is a big match. As it is a 2 and a half hour drive (he said, but I am not quite so sure), can anyone tell me what time this football game starts and therefore I can work out how long I will have with them?
I am soooooo excited, I can't wait to see them. I am also a wee bit nervous, but I am now feeling 100% and think the temp. last night was just a blip, probably because I am a bit nervous.
As my ds will be 19 soon, (end of the month). Do you think it would be OK if I offered him an alcoholic drink to have with his meal? I know the af drinks when the am is not around. If she comes and we go out for a meal, the waitress asks "any drinks" and before I have a chance to open my mouth she ALWAYS says, " NO, just a jug of water please". I wondered if this may be a way of showing my ds that I realise he is an adult, etc. Do you think I would be pushing my luck?

Soapbox · 17/06/2004 23:17

Buglie - I used to post as jmg on this thread. I wrote early on to Margaret Hodge and have followed the various threads all the way through. I thought I would let you know that I have been embroiled in a long debate with the Department of Education over their failure to respond to me email.

The Departments policy on responses is that they should reply within 15 working days. When I first queried it they told me that my response was being drafted and should be with me three working days later!

I'm still waiting, despite chasing it three times since then. I now have the tel number of the 'families in change team - vunerable children' person within the Department and will ring him to chase it again next week. What would be very useful is if everyone waiting for a response to any emails or letters they have sent could put up a concerted effort to bombard this chap with calls. If any one wants his name and number then do contact me through contact another talker and I will email it to them.

Lets make a real nuisence of ourselves!

I really did reach the limit of my endurance when, of all things, they sent me a customer services survey to complete. What customer service I ask myself - there has been little in evidence thus far!

I am very curious as to what your revelation is going to be!!

Good luck for tomorrow - wishing you a joyful day with your children

Janh · 17/06/2004 23:22

Bunglie, DS1 informs me that kickoff tomorrow is 7.45 so they will have to leave by 5.15 at the latest, which gives you most of the afternoon.

Defo offer DS a drink! (The more I hear about AM the more I loathe her!)

Hoping very much that everything goes smoothly and you all have a really pleasant lunch!

Janh · 17/06/2004 23:25

(btw it's England v France, Euro 2004, our first match. Thierry Henri (vavavoom!) is the one to watch but if Barthez is in goal we might have a better chance. Just a couple of snippets for you to drop into the conversation!)

Bunglie · 18/06/2004 00:53

Thanks Soapbox, and Janh.
I too am curious re. sending you a customer survey!!
I shall try and remember those 'titbits' re football, Janh, I just hope they do not think that I know anything more. All I can say is I hope we beat the french! Perhaps I should get an England flag to put on my electric buggy, then I will be a 'Cool Dude of a Mum'
Now Janh, try not to 'loathe' her, I am quite capable of that, she needs someone to be friends with her if she ever gets asked to 'go out and play' and I could then nominate YOU
Patience dear mumsnetters, I promise when I can tell you I will. You have ALL supported me so well, had it not been for you I would not be taking my ds and dd (and the af) out for a meal AND offering to buy my ds a drink!
I will post tomorrow, not sure I will have time in the morning.
Thank you very much soapbox for you really kind offer for people to contact you. I hope that they do.
Finally, I hope you are not too exhausted Sofia, after snatching away little old ladies zimmer frames, throwing them into the back of your car and then forcing them to vote consertavive

well, there was only one little old lady and luckily she turned me down in the end as she wasn't so little and I'm not sure she would have fit in my car which is very little.

Bunglie, you must offer ds a drink. Why don't you say something to him like will you be drinking beer or wine? That way he won't feel uncomfortable asking for a drink as you are assuming that he is old enough to do so.

Sorry bunglie, didn't get a chance to call you tonight as aunts kept me occupied....they are in their 70's and still bickering like they were 10. One has siatica and insisted on being wheeled around the tate modern in a wheel chair (you should have seen the looks when she lept out of it at lunch time) and the other has decided that the perfume in my laundry detergent is giving her palpitations. oh well. I'll ring you in the morning for a last minute pep talk.
I am so excited about your visit.

Bunglie · 18/06/2004 13:59

v. quickly. I have been swatting up on the 2004 footie thing, aparently 7 of the French team play in the English premiership - Doh-I am confused, I knew that there was a reason I played lacrosse at school (got banned for braking games teacher eye bone, but that's another story!)
Sofia, I think we need to start a 'support Sofia thread', it sounds awful. send them to me, then they really would find things to moan about Washing detergent, what washing detergent, we beat our clothes on the rocks before putting them through a manual mangle
I am dressed, nervous, and am only online because have to print some emails off and could not resist a peak at mumsnet.
A sugestion. When you register their should be a warning that 'Mumsnet IS ADDICTIVE!
Not long now, I have my footie facts, and I am practicing my looking interested look. I will do as you sugest Sofia re offering a drink to ds, and I hope that af is in a reasonable mood..
I will post later tonight.
Right in the middle of the footie probably.
Be honest do you watch it or is it your dh's and ds's?

sleeplessmum2be · 18/06/2004 14:39

Bunglie, Hope you have a great time with kids today!!!!

Bunglie · 18/06/2004 14:44

And no, I don't watch it, I just absorb the information, through my pores apparently.

ponygirl · 18/06/2004 15:37

Bunglie, hope you have a fantastic day to day with your children. Thinking of you and looking forward to hearing all about it.

They have just, left.
I had a GREAT day.
My ds-Is beautiful and syas she is getting married in a 'monsoon' wedding dress!
My dd had a pint of beer and I so gorgeous I want to hug and hug him
The af, well he was VERY amenable, open minded and was very positive. For the first time EVER he refered to ds as 'your daughter', but that was when she said she wanted a 'monsoon'dress!
I will post more details when my feet are back on the ground.
Oh-Sofia-ds LOVED the T-shirt, and it is a perfect fit. He knew all about who/what the logo was and was really impressed.
More later
I am sooooo happy I can not tell you.

Oh- af did say that the 'am' would not be too pleased but he would deal with that! We still don't know why she did not come but are so grateful she didn't.

So much to tell you, I have to get my brain in order and calmed down !

Beety 4 years ago I bought an 'Athens Olypics 2004' T-shirt in Rhodes, It has only just come into fashion ! Could I wear that now do you think, it is 4 years old and never been warn. Why Greece?
Back later,
A very very happy Bunglie

luckymum · 18/06/2004 21:08

Bunglie - glad you had a great day!!!

Bunglie · 18/06/2004 21:14

I know I am a bit slow, but is 'Monsoon' a designer label?

Bunglie · 18/06/2004 21:15

Oh, Janh, ds really impressed re, goalie and varoom varoom, or what ever it was. Not sure af was taken in by it though!!
