I hadn't actually thought that Nigel Farage could go lower in my estimation. But have to admit I was wrong...

Boffin my post is about how it is impacting me directly as stated (apart from regard to attacks but they are concerns of some of my friends) am well aware of the bigger world even in my small world

Working for the NHS (not a big business or is it Hmm but one of the largest employers) there hasn't been any changes (apart from ones already happening cut backs etc ) or a mass leaving of employees where I work (many from the EU) but there is certainly a feeling of changes coming and that isn't good when you are trying to support people that desperately need supporting

And I voted remain as I stated further up the thread

Article on Farage applying at the German Embassy: www.politico.eu/article/is-nigel-farage-applying-for-german-citizenship-brexit-consequences-ukip-europe/

I don't think he's eligible for dual citizenship as a non res, based on marriage alone. He will be applying for dual citizenship for his children (they are entitled to this as acquired by birth on maternal side).

It's clearly very important for him as a parent to maintain EU freedom of movement rights and work opportunities for his children (of course all British people used to have this right guaranteed, so no need to apply until nowHmm). Thank goodness he also personally maintains freedom of movement via his wife's German passport and the spousal provisions within the majority of EU countries which are far more humane than the UK's for non-EU spouses.

I have a lot of sympathy for him..finally got around to getting my DC German passport for exactly the same reasons and the paperwork is rather onerous.

*This is Farage's destructive elitist hypocrisy showcased in all its finery. The man is utterly revolting and like it or not he is viewed internationally as a UK poster boy"

gotthemoononastick · 26/08/2016 09:15

Regardless whether you love or hate these two men... proof once again that nothing is more beguiling than an orator.
Best extra-curricular lessons a parent could ever stump up for are diction, public speaking and elocution. Just saying...

you love or hate Farage and Trump....

Lweji · 26/08/2016 10:56

Oooh.
Another Trump thread. I really wanted to share a few "look at what Trump did" clips. Grin
And if you throw Farage in the midst, all the better. Wink

Now, is it possible that Farage changed his mind?

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/nigel-farage-donald-trump-republican-convention-muslims-us-election-2016-a7153206.html

"I think that what [Mr Trump] said about Muslims, and we've got other politicians in Europe doing the same, if we're labelling a whole section of our community effectively bad, that is not the way forward,"

Lweji · 26/08/2016 10:57

Because Farage is an stupid, unprincipled, ego-driven weasel.

Why are you being so kind to the man?

imwithspud · 26/08/2016 11:09

Switched my tv on to see Farage prancing around with Trump in America yesterday morning. It turned my stomach, they are both such odious little men. I do not want Farage going to other countries and 'representing' me and my country thank you very much.

BoffinMum · 26/08/2016 11:11

Let's have Nige on here for a web chat. Oh yes.

megletthesecond · 26/08/2016 11:15

Does anyone have any idea how much he was paid? I'm guessing a nice fat pay cheque, chance to raise his profile in the USA and a holiday rolled into one.

HPFA · 26/08/2016 11:19

I can't begin to understand how Nigel Farage is not part of the Establishment. Brilliantly skewered here by a writer in the Independent:

*So they know a little bit about what it’s like to be on the wrong side of the establishment down there. How hard they’ll choose to a listen to a middle aged Englishman telling them how he and his army, “Said no to the banks and no to the politicians,” when he’s only had two jobs in his life, first a banker and then a politician, we’ll find out on November 8th. That’s the day, by the way, as if there were still a nanometre of mercury left to spare at the top of the bullshit-o-meter, that Mr Trump last night declared would be ‘Independence Day, just like Britain had its Independence Day on June 23rd.’

They’d clapped like mad for “the man who led Brexit,” as Donald Trump rightly labelled Nigel Farage as he called him to the stage. “This is a great honour for me,” he told the crowd. He meant it......

Talk like you’re taking on the powerful, then round on the vulnerable. And all this laid on by a little public schoolboy who used to march round the countryside singing Hitler Youth Songs and a daddy-made billionaire, backed with the full force of Rupert Murdoch’s TV channel, flying round the world in a private jet with his name down the side, telling his followers to “stand up to the media.”*

People cannot possibly be shocked about this? I think they both work for Putin. Grin

Lweji · 26/08/2016 12:41

I think they both work for Putin

And possibly not only them...

SpecialAgentSpartacusRoars · 26/08/2016 12:52

Frank Underwood is a better man than them both, combined.

They're so hateful because they're short.

Lweji · 26/08/2016 13:02

Has anyone seen an analysis of the completely fake doctor's letter regarding Trump's health?

Particularly in relation to all the scare tactics about Hillary's supposed multiple illnesses?

Oh, and maybe it's not a good idea to send back illegals who have been for over a decade in the US without "breaking many laws", after all
video.foxnews.com/v/5098400171001/trump-suggests-shift-on-illegal-immigrant-deportation-policy/?#sp=show-clips

His acolytes have been having a hard time following his changes of heart (also check his claims about HC's health):

leading to brilliant interviews, such as by the brains behind Trump's campaign:
Michael "says who" Cohen

SpecialAgentSpartacusRoars · 26/08/2016 14:32

I wish I could find it, I've been looking but I can't.

The man who wrote Trump's book gave a really honest interview abut Trump. he admitted he had sold out, that his young faily needed money and that he should have called the book 'the Psychopath.' He said Trump loves any attention - good or bad, it does not matter.

Which explains a lot...

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 26/08/2016 15:16

He is an agitator

Like Farage. Does he want the responsibility of power I am not sure how far can be go how far can his push people. I don't beleive Farage does he just wants to create problems

Farage isn't going away but the press shouldn't keep entertaining him stop giving him so much publicity he thrives off this attention

SpecialAgentSpartacusRoars · 26/08/2016 16:01

I think it'd be very entertaining to no-platform Farage.
Oh, the rage. how far do you reckon he'd go to be in the papers? Grin

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 26/08/2016 16:58

It's not just the papers it's the sodding radio and tv because he attracts those that love him and like me loath him

Maybe a sad face DM story of how his face was hidden by the microphones yesterday Grin that did amuse me

SpecialAgentSpartacusRoars · 26/08/2016 17:03

That was so ridiculous, surely even the hateful DM journos cringed writing that one?!

Showmethewaytogohome · 26/08/2016 19:08

I hate to give the ferret Farage more oxygen of publicity that his ego craves but for the love of all that is rational I can't believe he is claiming a Brexit one man job. Errrmmm the Tories may have had an awful lot to do with it (and the compliance of the some of the Labour party)

Leaving that aside - the ferret joining up with the orange ompaloompa is a thing of terror wonder. I am surprised their egos both fit on one stage

I really miss Nigel's moostache - I wonder why he shaved it off? a step too far in the direction of his hero? Is he channelling Enoch, Mosley or Adolf? The choice the choice....

Farage speaks at Trump rally
Showmethewaytogohome · 26/08/2016 19:16

Oh and if you want some light(ish) vents about Trump I try and keep up with his antics on Slate's Trump Apocalypse Watch

They describe it as:

The Trump Apocalypse Watch is a subjective daily estimate, using a scale of one to four horsemen, of how likely it is that Donald Trump will be elected president, thus triggering an apocalypse in which we all die

www.slate.com/topics/t/trump_apocalypsewatch.html

You gotta laff, you gotta laff!

Galdos · 26/08/2016 20:15

Farage's speech at the Trump rally was absolutely marvellous! If someone had tried to write a spoof of his public speaking style, they couldn't have done it better. With Farage, the reality trumps the jokes (sneering at the EU parliament members for none of them supposedly ever having had a real job or created a job ... from an ex banker and now politician like them??).

There's a large section of Middle America which won't vote for HC (as being a woman), and HC's less than stellar record, odd little lies (running from gunfire?) and her state/private email problems could all tell against her. And don't forget that voting is through the electoral college, with each state having in effect equal voting power, irrespective of population size. So for all that he appears barking mad to many Brits, he could win. The US constitution is however pretty robust, and he wouldn't be the first President to find out he couldn't do stuff because Congress wouldn't let him (vide Obama).

Truly we live in interesting times.

Showmethewaytogohome · 26/08/2016 20:25

Galdos each state doesn't have equal voting power. States with the most electoral votes are California (55), Texas (38), New York (29), Florida (29), Illinois (20) and Pennsylvania (20).

As it stands Clinton has an advantage due to demographics and starts with more staunchly demographic states that Trump has staunchly republican. Trump has a chance of winning yes but the odds are stacked a bit against him from the start. Here's hoping that her advantage continues

Reapwhatyousow · 27/08/2016 07:28

Lots of arrogance on here. The electorate giveth and the electorate taketh away. ..
..

Reapwhatyousow · 27/08/2016 07:34

EnthusiasmDisturbed "stop giving him so much publicity he thrives off this attention" do you think our press should be involved in state censorship then?

Showmethewaytogohome · 27/08/2016 08:38

I agree with you Reap It is in everyone's interest to ensure we understand Farage's sartorial elegance. It is the thing that defines him the most

The arrogance of everyone suggested that a jumped up MEP who has taken the coin all these years spouting his fascist diatribe should be silenced. Disgusting. I propose we tell the DM that we want weekly exposes of his dress sense. We deserve it. We need it. Hell we want it!

Move over Versace, move over Gaultier. Move over Mosley, Enoch and Adolf. ALL you European kings of style. We have a new fascistcat in town. Bow down to king rat and his groovy style
