Donald Trump said, "You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass."

I can't help but be even more judgy of women who support him than men. I mean, WTAF?

It's from his own mouth. Women are for sex. I reckon it kills him that he's running (and losing) against a woman. He's one of the most openly misogynist famous person in the West.

He either didn't really mean to call for people to bear arms, in which case he should have been clear instead of evasive and hitting at it. Not showing much political acumen and showing himself to be dangerous for leaving room for misinterpretation.

Or he did mean to call for people to bear arms, which still shows no political acumen, and shows himself to be downright dangerous in his intentions.

Either way, not fit to be President

Stupid, irresponsible thing for Trump to say. I think it may have been an off the cuff joke gone wrong. I don't think it was specifically about Hillary, rather an uprising in general. Stupid thing to say. Trump does tend to make these type of gaffes when talking off the cuff.

Report
ZansSerif · 10/08/2016 11:36

I absolutely do think it's a serious threat, but done in a horrible slippery way. He didn't say "you know, those of you with guns, you could just kill her/her judges". Because that wouldn't allow him any wiggle room. Because he didn't actually directly say that, he can now do the pathetic denials and twisting. Not that anyone believes him.

ZansSerif · 10/08/2016 11:38

It's not a gaffe - I actually think it's very calculated. If you suggest people make use of their right to bear arms to deal with a perceived problem, but do it in a deliberately oblique way, that's not off the cuff. He knows it will appeal directly to his demographic.

No problem sorry to have upset you. Please everyone read "morally bankrupt"

Claig ? really, have you not heard him, he is being very specific about Hillary.

uprising in general

But if he refers to an uprising in reference to people associated with gun ownership then there is a threat of violence.

Sorry folks! But I just love the way that portrait brings him right back down to basics. Grin

You can imagine the furore about it from him and his camp. Wonderful. It cheered me up no end!

claig yes he does make rather a habit of these "gaffes" (as you so quaintly put it!) doesn't he? The trouble is ... his supporters are gun happy and follow him like sheep. Remember when he told them they could "knock the crap" out of non supporters and he would pay their legal fees. Very presidential. Not.

'really, have you not heard him, he is being very specific about Hillary.'

This is from a Democrat site

"Watch: Reckless Trump Just Called For Armed Uprising If Hillary Wins

Well, it’s finally come to this. The Republican presidential candidate just openly called for armed rebellion against the Democratic presidential candidate should she be elected and appoint justices to the Supreme Court."

Yes, an uprising like that would be violent, I presume, which is why it was an irresponsible thing to say. However, he didn't actually call for it.

All good HPFA Smile Much nicer to just chat than report!

I think Trump definitely meant it. he's like Charles Manson - Didn't do the deed himself, but one of his cult members did it in his name. Ugh.

How old is TRump anyway? He's had so much botox I can't tell if he's 50 or 90.

claig you make me laugh. I wish to award you the First Prize for splitting hairs. You are just twisting words.

No, he didn't say I call all of you to an uprising. But there is such a thing as suggestion isn't there? He suggests there is something the 2nd amendment people can do. That's pretty explicit in my book.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 10/08/2016 12:28

He's the new Charles Manson, and the bigots chanting Kill Hillary! Build the wall! Are his cult. And he knows it.

He knows he's losing so he's trying to sabotage her presidency before it even begins.

Report
claig · 10/08/2016 12:29

He didn't call for it, but it was irresponsible to even talk about an uprising of any sort.

Report
Roussette · 10/08/2016 12:37

Claig - splitting hairs again. Quite obviously he can't direct or call for people to get their guns out. But auto suggestion, talking about it, making inferences are what he's done because that's as far as he can go as a presidential candidate.

The man incites violence. I call that a bit more than irresponsible.

The US secret service has recently tweeted (yeah, not very secret I know)

'Quite obviously he can't direct or call for people to get their guns out. But auto suggestion, talking about it, making inferences are what he's done because that's as far as he can go as a presidential candidate. '

That is essentially what I have said. He didn't call for it but he did talk about it which he should not have done. I don't believe he intended to call for an uprising, otherwise he could be prosecuted.

As a Fox commentator said last night, he probably intended to get the 90 million US gun owners to worry about Hillary removing their Second Amendment rights, which she has not even said she will do.

It was a stupid and irresponsible thing for him to say.

I don't believe he intended to call for an uprising, otherwise he could be prosecuted.

Again, the issue isn't whether he's calling for an uprising. The issue is the wholly foreseeable event of a gun-owner feeling inspired to assassinate someone.

Watching claig squirm on this thread is today's MN highlight.

Agree with pp about him being bored by having so much wealth - the Rich Tit Theory. I think it accounts for a lot of the problems in UK politics - so much inherited wealth (Eton lot, in particular) must give people so little purpose.

Another thing that pisses me off about this is it just made Clinton's candidacy that much more difficult.

She'll be advised not to do walkabouts. And to stand behind cumbersome bullet proof glass autocues, at smaller gatherings. She'll have a bigger and costlier security detail which will hinder her freedom of movement. She'll look vulnerable.

Or, she says no to all that and takes the risk. But it's a big risk. Someone may just shoot her.

Then what?

It's all really sick.
