Let the debate continue.....

I did finally get a reply from my Labour MEP on Friday. In summary: it is a problem with all men, they need as a group to up their game.

I did wonder what my Dh would say. For the sake of harmony I am not going there; he never votes Labour anyway! As a mother of gentle, kind mannered boys I find it an unhelpful response at this moment in time but it is the current political mainstream opinion.

Inkanta · 06/02/2016 15:27

gingham

Just watched your link from the Women's rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) Committee of the European Parliament!

So this was a Mary Honeyball who said to Kristina Morai it was 'racist to blame immigrants' for the attacks on European women!

Good grief - this is hard to believe and stomach. Anyway there she on record - Mary Honeyball attempting to close down Morai and close down debate and truths about migrants assaulting European women. Wow!

Inkanta · 06/02/2016 15:36

'Do feel free to join me: [email protected]'

January

Yes - I wil!

It WAS disgraceful of Mary Honeywell to deny the truths about the behaviour of migrants towards women and play that racist card. She just closed down debate with a lie!

Moreshabbythanchic · 06/02/2016 15:41

Chipstick if reading the DM is the worse crime happening in the world at the moment I'm happy to admit my guilt.

januarybrown1998 · 06/02/2016 15:43

I copied Krisztina in on the email.

It was appalling. I had to listen several times to make sure I hadn't completely misunderstood.

From LeftfootForward, these are Honeyballs own words;
There is clearly an urgent need for gender sensitivity in all aspects of our asylum policies, from the design stage to the delivery and evaluation. To fully understand the needs of refugees, and to find effective and sustainable policy solutions, some of the best resources we have available are within the communities themselves. This is particularly true for women and other vulnerable groups, whose voices are too often lost.

Lost, or indeed shut down because they are asking for help for the wrong nationality colour sort of woman?

Shocking.

Inkanta · 06/02/2016 15:59

Yes January

And she didn't want to engage about what to do about the rights of European getting assaulted by migrants. Like it doesn't exist and also racist to talk about it.Oh right then, so European women are racist to voice any concern about the culprits, who happened to be migrants, and women's rights

What should women do then? Put up and shut up and be kind and gentle to the culprits?? Confused

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 06/02/2016 16:01

Yes Inkanta. That would appear to be the message from the European parliament.

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 06/02/2016 16:03

I talked about the reasons a lot, but many people weren't interested in discussing any reasons beyond 'being a Muslim' or misogyny allegedly relating to Islam

But you did say that ISIS are nothing to do with Islam.

Then a link was supplied to enlighten you on the direct link of ISIS and Islam and you never responded...Just thinking maybe its why people try not to engage with you because we are all learning on here and lots of back and forth going on, but you have openly said you dont know much about it all then go on to call people names ....( just a thought...)

vladimirsoftless · 06/02/2016 16:14

have caught up on all the threads (was on the very first thread) so hope it's ok to join in again. Thanks to everyone for all the informative links.

jan, I have indeed emailed ms honey.

Here is what I wrote:

Dear Ms Honeyball,

I followed your contributions at the Women's rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) Committee of the European Parliament.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=IURDfBgbMi8&feature=youtu.be.

I am disappointed and horrified to see that you, a declared feminist, deem raising the issue of migrant sexual violence as racist. We in Europe need to face the current situation and deal with it as well as possible. Ignoring and censoring the violence that takes place within the current migrant context is hypocritical and dangerous. Relativist and constructionist arguments have certainly got their place in social discourse, however sexual violence leaves male and female (often young and vulnerable) scarred and damaged for life. Are you not at all interested in a (relatively) peaceful society where women and men, boys and girls can go about their life, attend school, work and socialise without fear of being raped, assaulted harassed or humiliated? Many migrants are either waiting for asylum or their applications have been rejected, they have no work, no roots, nothing to loose so antisocial behaviour is hardly surprising.

I am including a link to an excellent discussion on Mumsnet for your information. Your views are being critically discussed on this forum. Please feel free to drop by and contribute to the discussion, there have so far been nearly 9000 posts mostly intelligent and openminded contributions.

I have cc-ed Mr Davies who has already contributed more sensibly than any other politician on this topic. I am a European national who has lived in the UK for some years, I don't hold a british passport and have much to loose from a Brexit. Nevertheless, the appalling minimising and simplistic labelling of 'racist' of anyone who wants to discuss migrant related violence have resulted in a drastic change in opinion from me. I stand to loose out personally if the UK vote to exit the EU yet I am 100% for cutting our ties with the EU. Imagine just how British women must feel (and subsequently vote) who have no personal interest in staying in the EU. Attitudes such as yours in the above linked video are narrow minded, coloured by ideology, not prgamatic and ultimately dangerous.

Regards,

feel free to copy the text and alter or whatever and send to ms honey.

No concerns about Christianity Chipstick? Do all Christians tolerate homosexuality?

Its open knowledge loads of vicars are gay and its open knowledge many vicars do not actually believe god is real.

That comes from the horses mouth.

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 06/02/2016 16:21

I feel this is possibly the position of some Muslims too

hundreds, thousands of muslims will be gay but to to afraid to speak out about it.

Inkanta · 06/02/2016 16:23

vladimirsoftless

Excellent letter!

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 06/02/2016 16:26

"Another said she had been told by Labour members "Islam and feminism aren't compatible".

"An advocate for gay rights was told: "This is un-Islamic. Leave that for white people." And many spoke of being criticised for being too Westernised"

Interesting link thank you.

vladimirsoftless · 06/02/2016 16:27

"What should women do then? Put up and shut up and be kind and gentle to the culprits??"

having followed this topic with interest I now believe that this is what is expected of women.

not quite on Claig's level but I am convinced there are political and economic interests behind the migrant exodus and the EU's soft response to the exodus, which the political elite deem more urgent and potentially volatile than the physical safety of relatively few native European women (and young girls and boys, let's not forget that boys are harassed and raped too). I have come to the conclusion that European victims of migrant (sexual) assault are considered as collateral damage in this new and dark era.

All i can say ladies, sign up to a kickass self-defense course and take your sons and daughters with you.

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 06/02/2016 16:30

bill its scary but thank goodness at the moment its recognised and can be rooted out,

'I have come to the conclusion that European victims of migrant (sexual) assault are considered as collateral damage in this new and dark era.'

Exactly. Looks that way!

what happened in Tower Hamlet was an utter disgrace and very painful for the victims) it is likely to happen again up and down the country.

Multiculturalism is cool but basic principles of decency must be adhered to by everyone or we are truly f**d. For a diverse society to function peacefully diversity needs to be tolerated. That is women, gays, pensioners, Hindus Jewish people, Muslims, Christians (can't believe why all this religious stuff is still politically relevant in the 21st century, but whatever). Sadly conservative men from certain cultures are used to and expect to having it their way and dominate everyone else.

The danger to a multi-culty, diverse and inclusive society is not a 'xenophobic europeans' but ambitious, grabbing power groups introducing conservative political-religious agendas into communities in Trojan horse fashion.

We need a strong central government because, as pp pointed out, certain communities with political-religious agendas have excellent social networks and can take over locally. Oh, and nepotism presents a problem, also.

Our liberal sorry, I am liberal nice 'live and let live' ethos is sadly not echoed by some.

Lumela cider is - some say good - for after supper/before sleep and usually people have it with a platter of game or sausages. But might try vodka for lunch and goes with anything even strawberries.

vladimirsoftless · 06/02/2016 16:54

"Its open knowledge loads of vicars are gay and its open knowledge many vicars do not actually believe god is real. "

dc1 was christened by a wonderful gay priest. One of my male colleagues is in a longterm relationship with a gay vicar.

LumelaMme · 06/02/2016 17:07

Mari, I will make a mental note:
Cider=sleeping draught.
I have been fit for nothing all afternoon.

BrittEkland · 06/02/2016 17:09

vladimir ......I am convinced there are political and economic interests behind the migrant exodus and the EU's soft response to the exodus. I have come to the conclusion that European victims of migrant (sexual) assault are considered as collateral damage in this new and dark era.

I agree, I spoke about this upthread but most thought I was thinking too extremely. It has several names: New World Order, Globalisation, One World Government, global governance, and Agenda 21 - but the result is the same. The endgame will be a one-world government presiding over the earth for the benefit of global oligarchs.

Someone spoke to me about this 25 yrs ago about this and I too poo-pood it, but I think we are in the middle of a very longterm plan of action.

Palebluedotty · 06/02/2016 17:14

moreshabby I am so angered by that truly appalling story of the boy raped in Vienna.

Palebluedotty · 06/02/2016 17:15

yes vladimir collateral damage, of some flawed ideology.
