Poor old kara mustapha was a " trier" not a ruler. Polish king Jan Sobieskis' winged hussars saw them off from the gates of Vienna.Kara Mustapha was murdered in front of his son by his own Ottoman ruler for being a failure. No Golden Rule in the Ottoman Empire Emily.

Thanks to all who are working hard on this.

Moderates on both divides, Christian and Muslim (even nominally) and men and women need to speak up otherwise the extremists will run with it.

I'm not in in opposition to a Syrian male refugee, nor even a Morroccan male economic migrant.
This issue cannot help but boil down to 'us and them', 'us' being law abiding peaceful people and 'them' being criminals harming others.

Idealistic, I know, maybe even simplistic but the way we hope it will turn out, nonetheless

I don't think it's 'white guilt' on the part of the left at all. It's the fear that we are deliberately being set up for a right-wing holocaust situation over and over again by big coporations and nefarious interest groups and many of our families have suffered from that in the past. Obviously noone supports or apologises for assault - in the same way we would hate to see Muslim doctors/engineers etc targeted for assault.

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 16/01/2016 08:18

7Days I agree. It boils down to a commitment to law and order for 50% of the population.

VertigoNun · 16/01/2016 08:34

So nobody is willing to get the petition ready?

The three hundred word box is done.

We need to finalise the other two boxes, now. Box three is about supportive links, so that's the main focus now.

We also need five supportive email addresses and names of five people. These names and emails will not be seen by the public.

VertigoNun · 16/01/2016 09:11

The EU authorities' response to the recent mass sexual assaults on innocent girls and women is deplorable. UK women must be free to live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to uphold women's rights irrespective of contrary cultural attitudes.

300 word box text

VertigoNun · 16/01/2016 09:13

We need a 62 character header for the first box. We had something on a previous thread. It can't mention cologne as it would be rejected due to the other petition.

WillBeatJanuaryBlues · 16/01/2016 09:14

rights

without a doubt its far more encompassing than safety.

After all men can shout and sneer at me walking down the street but that wont actually harm me physically, however its my "right" to walk freely down the street without being singled out. Its my right to go about my business without being singed out for whatever reason, whether that causes me harm or not.

VertigoNun · 16/01/2016 09:15

The additional details box is 500 characters.

I propose

And www.debbonaire.co.uk/welcoming_refugees_and_protecting_women_from_sexual_assault

Can anyone shorten the url or add further links?

WillBeatJanuaryBlues · 16/01/2016 09:16

^^ like it vertigo

VertigoNun · 16/01/2016 09:16

We are using rights.

Pinkchampchoccies · 16/01/2016 09:16

Vertigo

"The EU authorities' response to the recent mass sexual assaults on innocent girls and women is deplorable. UK women must be free to live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to uphold women's rights irrespective of contrary cultural attitudes."

This is excellent, encompass the key points and conveys the message clearly.

VertigoNun · 16/01/2016 09:19

We have someone else, so the safety/rights issue Travelling had is not an issue anymore.

RomComPhooey · 16/01/2016 09:22

I agree that we should use rights, not safety. It has legal connotations which point a protective legislative franework in the UK, eg Equality Act, that our parliament has a duty to uphold and enforce through our statutes and criminal justice system. It is our rights that are being eroded - the actual events and pathetic establishment response are sympomatic of a failure to enforce existing rights (for women) and duties (for public bodies/establishment structures). As others have said, safety could be achieved by women absenting themselves from public settings - letting our criminal justice sytem off the hook & curtailing women's had won freedoms. Sad

You are well aware of tge report system Emily, report posts you think may be against talk guidelines.

Any ideas on the final two boxes anyone?

emilybohemia · 16/01/2016 09:35

Fourmummy, I'm not sure why you are concerned about my posts but tolerate posts that say 'some cultures don't mix.' This thread is riddled with prejudiced slurs which many of you seem to tolerate. The general consensus seems to be that you are quite comortable with far right views.

Theydontknowweknowtheyknow · 16/01/2016 09:56

The only prejudice here is yours Emily.

HelpTheAnimalsFirst · 16/01/2016 10:00

Here is a better verson perhaps. 297

On New Year’s Eve, women across the EU were subjected to mass sex assaults. UK women must be free to travel, work and live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to uphold women's rights in the face of gross, misogynistic cultural attitudes.
