Thread 6.

OP posts:
LumelaMme · 15/01/2016 22:44

I prefer of blend:
The EU authorities response to the recent mass sexual assaults on innocent girls and women is deplorable. UK women must be free to live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to uphold women's rights irrespective of contrary cultural attitudes.

That's 299.
That's me done for the day.

LumelaMme · 15/01/2016 22:44

a blend.
As I said, done for the day.

VertigoNun · 15/01/2016 22:46

I like the blend too.

I am going to sleep soon. It would be nice to get the petition going before I go.

emilybohemia · 15/01/2016 22:48

Thanks Twisted. Yes, it seems people have been happy to tolerate a lot of Help's comments. She also said that women should not wear hijab at work, which I thought was strange and that it was a sign of their hostility.

Pinkchamp asked why on earth anyone would have a welcome party for refugees.

There are some odd comments on this thread.

Whilst these comments are tolerated, a popular campaign by German women that have been active feminists for years, has been largely dismissed.

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 15/01/2016 22:51

Like I say Emily posters here have chosen to focus on the issue thrown into sharp focus by the events of NYE.

Sorry if that doesn't please you but like I say I am grateful for the heads up re the German campaign.

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 15/01/2016 22:53

It's all too easy to be deflected by the endless complexity of issues.

venusinscorpio · 15/01/2016 22:54

Yes. Lumela's blended version. It's punchy and strong.

RufusTheReindeer · 15/01/2016 23:00

emily

I followed your link and looked at the site

It was very interesting

I didnt comment on the thread itself because i didnt see the point

You seem to not answer questions and ignore people

MamaMary · 15/01/2016 23:01

Any of the versions will do - I prefer this one:

"On New Year’s Eve, women across the EU were subjected to mass sex assaults. UK women must be free to travel, work and live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to promote and uphold women's rights in the face of conflicting cultural attitudes."

Wordsaremything · 15/01/2016 23:04

I prefer lumela's one- and need to add an apostrophe after authorities -which makes it bang on 300.

VertigoNun · 15/01/2016 23:06

The EU authorities' response to the recent mass sexual assaults on innocent girls and women is deplorable. UK women must be free to live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to uphold women's rights irrespective of contrary cultural attitudes.

Like this? Confused

MamaMary · 15/01/2016 23:07

Anna, just choose the wording you like best and start this thing. :)

This is the third night we've all gone to bed, not having settled on the wording.

I fear we'll soon lose any impact if we don't get this going.

Pinkchampchoccies · 15/01/2016 23:07

Travelling

The EU authorities response to the recent mass sexual assaults on innocent girls and women is deplorable. UK women must be free to live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to uphold women's rights and address this hostile and dangerous trend. (299)

Pinkchampchoccies · 15/01/2016 23:08

Apologies:
Anna and Travelling

RomComPhooey · 15/01/2016 23:09

Please make sure you use the full 300 characters so that you can add an apostrophe to authorities'.

VertigoNun · 15/01/2016 23:12

Do it, do it, do it.

venusinscorpio · 15/01/2016 23:12

Agree. We want it to be grammatically correct.

travellingpeople · 15/01/2016 23:13

Id change "womens rights" to " womens safety"

MamaMary · 15/01/2016 23:14

No - it's about women's rights and freedom to move around freely in public and to wear what they choose. It's not just about safety - it's bigger than that.

VertigoNun · 15/01/2016 23:15

The EU authorities' response to the recent mass sexual assaults on innocent girls and women is deplorable. UK women must be free to live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to uphold women's safety irrespective of contrary cultural attitudes.

?

VertigoNun · 15/01/2016 23:15

So back to

The EU authorities' response to the recent mass sexual assaults on innocent girls and women is deplorable. UK women must be free to live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to uphold women's rights irrespective of contrary cultural attitudes.

This?

MariscallRoad · 15/01/2016 23:16

I said before I like this version
"On New Year’s Eve, women across the EU were subjected to mass sex assaults. UK women must be free to travel, work and live without intimidation or sexual violence. We ask the Government to debate and enforce measures to promote and uphold women's rights in the face of conflicting cultural attitudes."
The bolded phase is the founding principle of European Union and the essence of its idea. It is based on democracy the only defence we have against darkness and violence.

VertigoNun · 15/01/2016 23:17

What links are you providing for the third box?

I suggest this thread.

travellingpeople · 15/01/2016 23:18

Mama,i know but "rights" sounds airy fairy
"Safety" is concrete and who could argue against it?
