Maria, you state, 'that it how it is in their culture. Visit their countries and you'll see that it's mostly men out on streets at night - the women stay home'. Which countries does this happen in? Do the different unspecified countries all share the same culture?

Hiddenhome, you state, 'Even if people don't wish to fully integrate, they should at least demonstrate some respect for the laws and culture of the society they're moving in to'.

Migrants have been moving to Germany for years. Respecting the laws and culture is exactly what most of them do. A minority do not, same as the rest of the non migrant population which isn't completely comprised of law abiding citizens now is it?

Moreshabbythanchic, while your campaiging relates only to the sex crimes of those of Arabic or N African appearance and the culture you allege they all belong to, I don't think any credible politician will go near it.

Fakenamefornow. You state, 'I don't know why they don't send all the Syrian men back, deliver them to the rebel groups so they can join the fight to liberate their country from Assad and IS, we'll keep your women and children safe in Europe while you do this.

Well, I do know why they don't do this. I'm just so angry about the way they've behaved, I wish they would send them back'.

They don't send all the Syrian men back because international law, including the Geneva Convention, means that we have a responsibility to offer safety from those fleeing danger, including men. In addition, your grand plan seems not terribly feasible considering that in Syria there is civil war with Assad barrel bombing citizens, Isis, as well as bombings from European countries.

There is no clear picture as of yet of just how many Syrian men carried out attacks. It is more than a little unfair that you suggest that all Syrian male refugees be parted from their families that have already experienced the trauma of war and the additional journey to safety, because of the crimes of an ubstantiated minority. Your suggestion is vile, racist and ludicrous.

AnnaForbes · 09/01/2016 21:06

Moreshabby, I don't think anyone would be able to build an army out of people who despise us. I think the agenda here is civil unrest followed by loss of freedom, police states and martial law.

Moreshabbythanchic · 09/01/2016 21:07

Hidden yes, they do but their population is falling so why not import more young men.

Moreshabbythanchic · 09/01/2016 21:09

Emily erm, what campaigning would that be?

Moreshabbythanchic, while your campaiging relates only to the sex crimes of those of Arabic or N African appearance and the culture you allege they all belong to

AnnaForbes · 09/01/2016 21:10

Emily, you quote the Geneva convention. This needs to be rewritten if it prevents us deporting criminals. No matter where their country of origin is, they should be sent back if they have committed a crime.

redbinneo · 09/01/2016 21:10

emilybohemia:
Tunisia is a good example, the men sit in cafes staring at the street. No women to be seen.
Have you ever been outside Europe?

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 21:10

They'd make a hopeless army though shabby if some of the migrants are from isis, allowing them into the military would be catastrophic.

Justanotherlurker · 09/01/2016 21:12

True, I just think this is more an opportunistic terrorism driven by culture rather than some higher orders.

I think it was definetly co-ordinated to some degree, I just don't like the idea of some 'mission statement' type of coordination and the PTB and Internet service providers colluding and removing any trace of 'ownership' of such events.

Moreshabbythanchic · 09/01/2016 21:13

Hidden yes, that's true, I'm just trying to work out her motive.

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 21:15

Laughable emily

It goes without saying that all citizens should abide by and respect the law Hmm

Two wrongs don't make a right and who exactly do you think were involved in the attacks? The Cologne Pensioners Coffee Club?

Justanotherlurker · 09/01/2016 21:15

Thread moving to fast need to quote, my recent post was to hidden

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 21:16

I wish I was a fly on the wall shabby I'd dearly love to know what's going on in the background.

VertigoNun · 09/01/2016 21:17

If you wanted to stop refugees leaving Syria what do you do? Turn those giving sanctuary against them.

Germany were warmed there would be a train station NYE terror attack.

Moreshabbythanchic · 09/01/2016 21:19

Definitely more than we are being told!

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 21:19

Politicians need to think these things through vertigo. This was a hasty knee jerk reaction and it's all gone wrong. It was predictable though.

amarmai · 09/01/2016 21:23

non canadian citizens are deported if convicted of a crime-don't think it's against the Geneva Convention.

venusinscorpio · 09/01/2016 21:24

That we shouldn't put women's rights last any more in 2016. Also it relates to the fact these attacks happened on NYE/NYD.

TheElementsSong · 09/01/2016 21:24

Just wanted to post to thank (most of) you all for your intelligent and articulate discussion - I've been lurking since the start of the first thread but have been just too angry to express myself, but fortunately some excellent posters have said it all far better than I could have myself.

VertigoNun · 09/01/2016 21:25

I hope the left do come out as the right are lapping this up with glee.

The minimising, victim blaming and distracting needs to stop.

venusinscorpio · 09/01/2016 21:26

I totally agree VertigoNun.

emilybohemia · 09/01/2016 21:27

Helptheanimalsfirst, I thought this thread was about men attacking women, not about their employment skills or eligibilit for benefits? Are you not drifting from the purpose of the thread? A number of migrants may be educated. The difficulty is in transerring these skills to the new country. Syrians are not leaving because they want benefits, they are leaving because they don't want their heads blown off. Surely the question is to how to ensure women's safety? Being a benefit claimant does not make you more likely to assault women.

Tamponlady, I think you mean the ones in Cambridge or Oxford. You said, 'These men have fundermental Diffrent attatuids towards women.' What they did was despicable, but think of all those Muslims that haven't done so. Think of all the non Muslims that have attacked people. Is it not correct instead that, 'Sex attackers have fundamentally different attitudes to women.'

Lumela, 'I am NOT a racist. I am NOT a xenophobe. I believe that western values are important and should not be compromised because SOME immigrants can't cope with them'. Some immigrants can't cope with them, as some of the non immigrants can't. Why not highlight all points where safety of women is violated and stress the importance of that to mps? There also needs to be a return on this thread to examining the failures of policing in Cologne, the fact that it appears police saw what was happening and did not assist the women.

Fourmummy, does it not seem that in Germany and other European countries there have been numerous assaults over the years that have not been taken seriously, witnesses whose testimonies have been seen as not credible, attackers that have not been convicted due to the poisonous and vile unseen undertone of hatred toward women in our societies that is not restricted to any one group, from many different kinds of men?

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 21:27

The left won't change their stance vertigo because that would align them with the right. Their brains won't allow them to figure things out for themselves and act anyway.

emilybohemia · 09/01/2016 21:28

Tamponlady and a number of posters on here are clearly notmumsnetters.

onthephone100 · 09/01/2016 21:30

Exactly Vertigo,

As an attack on both the West and its home grown victims, it couldn't have been bettered.

Sow fear in the West, turn hearts and minds against those fleeing your terror at home.

Genius really.

Justanotherlurker · 09/01/2016 21:30

You can't deport someone who's life would be potentially be in danger, basic human rights Geneva convention stuff.

The shengan agreement has been largely by passed since Merkles call to welcome all (you forget the ridicule turkey et al got with trying to hold them up at a train station for registration) also there is a reason why Nordic countries are implementing border controls.
