Keeping this in the spotlight since the mainstream media isn't.

Pack mentality, which they do not have the self-control or mentality to recognise

I don't think that is racist, since we have all seen it happen. Peer pressure is underestimated. However, peer pressure can be used positively in that those from the same communities who perpetrated these crimes can be supported in standing against the perpetrators.

TheyDontknowthatweknow You are absolutely correct - it is hatred and contempt, and depraved indifference.

Thanks four. That makes sense. You almost make him reasonable tho. Does it matter that I just want to kick him a lot?

1700 neo nazis demonstrated in Cologne today. Many arrests, a lot of violence, bottles and stones thrown at police. A journalist needed hospital treatment.

These are the streets where I live Sad

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 20:28

Sad onthephone

Justanotherlurker · 09/01/2016 20:29

There are also reports coming from within Germany that any dissenting voices that highlights problems from immigrants should also be removed on mass.

Trying to find a non right wing (more balanced) report other than internet chatter.

onthephone100 · 09/01/2016 20:30

379 incidents in total on NYE, 40% involve a "sexual element"

Over my fucking dead body do I need a neo nazi to defend my rights though. Let's chuck them in the Med instead....

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 20:32

Sadly, if there are reporting restrictions, the right wing sites may be the only ones with reports.

I think EU countries have to have emergency meetings ASP, especially including countries with outer EU borders, hell bring Turkey along too. This news article from November says there will be another 3 million refugees/migrants heading into Europe by the end of 2016. I'm afraid I'm done with the notion that Europe can successfully handle and integrate such numbers. I feel for these people fleeing war but I'm no longer prepared to to sacrifice our security. I feel shame for feeling this way and cowardly for being glad that the UK is an island nation :(

LumelaMme · 09/01/2016 20:35

I don't mind at all, Mama.

Fishboneschokus · 09/01/2016 20:38

If Daesh were involved, wouldn't they be trumpeting it in their propaganda videos?

Justanotherlurker · 09/01/2016 20:39

Also before we go guns a blazing with the night club, apparently it hasn't been confirmed.

www.presseportal.de/blaulicht/pm/12522/3218385

On New Years Eve [the police received] two reports of groups of people with migration background sexually harassing women.

This could not be verified on site

No victims have reported

So far, the police has not received complains for sexual harassment or theft
Two perpetrators who stole phones were arrested

No heightened criminal activity exceeding a normal weekend was determined

Pinkchampchoccies · 09/01/2016 20:43

Sorry having a hard time keeping up with all the posts.

How do we get 2♀16 out?

2016IsANewYearforMe · 09/01/2016 20:43

2 ♀16 Smile

MamaMary · 09/01/2016 20:51

Those of us on Twitter (I'm not, but beginning to think I should be), should link to this thread or a good, sane article on the subject (perhaps the DT Allison Pearson one I linked to above) and use the 2 ♀16, as well as a hashtag e.g. #protectwomen'sfreedom

MamaMary · 09/01/2016 20:52

Those of us on Facebook should do the same.

Justanotherlurker · 09/01/2016 20:54

I'm going to stick my kneck ou and say I don't think this is a co-ordinated attack from Isis/Deash, if it was we would have heard about it already and the right wing already being all over this would have brought it to light if it was.

I do think however it was coordinated locally (via text etc), more people out on NYE and more people getting drunk they saw an opportunity, doesn't make the situation any better but I don't think it was centrally controlled (ifysim)

fourmummy · 09/01/2016 20:55

onthephone-Merkel let the migrants in because Germany are desperate to be seen as accommodating to ethnic minorities due to collective guilt over the recent (20th century) past" There is quite a lot of evidence now that Merkel has been 'leaned on'. She looks terrible and her demeanor has changed significantly in just a few months. She spoke fairly recently about the failure of multiculturalism, then suddenly this. As someone mentioned upthread, she knows that these men are not going to work. Can you imagine them being answerable to a female boss? I think that we need to work out why this has been planned for Europe.

Moreshabbythanchic · 09/01/2016 21:00

I read somewhere that Merkel was after building an army. Is it feasible to suggest bringing in many young men who are largely uneducated, giving them residency then bringing in conscription to form an army.

I could be way off the mark but I'm still at a loss as to what her reasoning is.

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 21:00

I don't think they need to be instructed what to do by isis. I think the motivation is already present.

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 21:02

It's more than collective guilt over last century. There's something else, something we're missing.

hiddenhome2 · 09/01/2016 21:03

Doesn't Germany already have a military?

Rainbunny · 09/01/2016 21:03

I must have missed this sign "2 ♀16" being introduced? Can someone explain what it means (feeling very stupid right now...)

Rainbunny · 09/01/2016 21:05

Creating an army from recent immigrants with highly doubtful "loyalty" and no desire to fight (hence they fled their home countries) to Germany sounds very conspiracy theorish to me....
