Oh yes don't you know about the ONLY democracy in the middle east, so so threatened by all it's neighbours that we decide to give warnings like roof knocking and then mow the lawn so that everyone knows who moral and the boss. We have the most moral army in the world which holds apartheid as a core value, assassinates, blackmails, puts children in prison, loves to terrorise families, likes playing target practice with children's lives. Oh and so moral are we that we throw a bit of white phosphorous around and other banned substances to heighten palestinian suffering.

Our morality that we like to bleat on about is of utmost importance, so much so, that we then conduct mickey mouse investigations into our own moral army conduct, where justice never gets done but also reject UN investigations, the resolutions of which we have form for breaking left right and centre.

So what if the Palestinians are stateless, remember when we were once stateless? That was awful, so what if we are responsible for Palestinian suffering, death, destruction, torture? Don't forget that we will always be the victims - that is our default setting. Now we just kick Palestinians out of their homes and move in ourselves. Cos we are moral innit! Never again should we have to go through what we did. Never again.

Dr Gilbert says he will defy Israeli ban on entering Gaza! Go Dr Gilbert!!

He said: “I will not be stopped from returning to Gaza to do medical work. There are different attempts going on to conceal the reality on the ground for the good people of Gaza – this is one of them – and we must persist in resisting attempts to shutdown Gaza from the world."

Guess - just guess what the Israeli spokesman said about Dr Gilbert? He said that Dr. Gilbert is not on the side of decency and peace!!! Remind me again who dropped the bombs for weeks on end on unarmed civilians. Of course it was Israel who is deluded enough to think of itself as decent and peaceful whilst dropping bombs over the entire stretch of Gaza and telling people to get out of harms way with nowhere for them to hide or take shelter. Even the schools and hospitals weren't safe from the decent and peaceful bombs dropped by Israel.

This footage said it all

Full story about Dr Gilbert here:

East Jerusalemite hanged by settlers - another source reports the police claimed suicide!!! www.presstv.ir/detail/2014/11/17/386335/israeli-settlers-hang-palestinian/. But I'm sure it's being thoroughly investigated. And no doubt the perps will be caught quickly. And appropriately punished (shot without charge/trial).

TheHoneyBadger · 17/11/2014 16:11

jesus.

halfdrunkcoffee · 17/11/2014 20:16

That's horrific. Another report here.

Haaretz reports here that Dr Gilbert has only been banned from entering Israel, not Gaza, as a result of a "security consideration". But as the Egyptian border crossing is closed I can't see how he can get to Gaza without going through Israel Confused.

QnBoudi · 17/11/2014 20:22

It's really not difficult to see how the psychological damage to gazans is stacking up: www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2014/11/03/gaza-isnt-just-a-physical-wreck-the-psychological-damage-is-even-worse.

But it does beggar belief that there's no real appetite for enforcing an investigation into the summer events: www.commondreams.org/news/2014/11/13/israeli-government-refuse-entry-un-team-investigating-war-crimes-gaza. Meanwhile the idea of the whole world's "obsessive hostility towards Israel" seems to be something of an obsession itself.

TheHoneyBadger · 18/11/2014 07:17

that article is so sad qnboudi. there is no way a people can take that kind of horror without massive repurcussions upon individual and collective psychology. if any of us even saw one child buried in rubble or blown apart we'd be in pieces. the things those people have been subjected to seeing and being trapped in are beyond belief.

i wish people would stop calling it a war - that's not a war.

i'm baffled as to how you can call yourself a civilised democratic nation and then refuse entry to UN investigators.

Ketchuphidestheburntbits · 18/11/2014 13:13

I'm so sad to hear about the attack in the Jerusalem synagogue today. It can only lead to further violence on both sides. Sad

Awful news about the synagogue murders Sad.

B’Tselem condemned the attack and "reiterated its call to politicians and leaders to act responsibly and avoid fanning the flames of violence" - I doubt that will happen.

sergeantmajor · 18/11/2014 18:52

Who are the bully types that you mean TheHoneyBadger?

sergeantmajor · 18/11/2014 18:54

Yruapita "Remind me again who dropped the bombs for weeks on end on unarmed civilians." ... OK I will. Both sides did. Actually Hamas dropped bombs for months on end on unarmed civilians before the IDF retaliated. Let me know if you need another reminder.

QnBoudi · 18/11/2014 19:25

Netanyahu's statement on speeding up legislation to create an exclusively jewish state predated the synagogue attack: www.middleeastmonitor.com/news/middle-east/15336-netanyahu-to-push-forward-jewish-state-law. Provocation piled on provocation. Barghouti speaking very well on channel4 pointing out that religion must not be allowed to mask the underlying issues. I note in passing that there's a huge amount of air time for this horrible attack - considerably more than the total devoted to coverage of the endless aggression on islamic holy sites over the past months... Some are just more equal than others. I know that's the way it is, but would I put up and shut up if it was me? Can't imagine so.

Yruapita · 18/11/2014 23:40

Some more xenophobia from londongirl33 again. Nutty yahu would be so proud.

Not very good with reminding truthfully are you sergeant?

In the news today, it was reported that the tension regarding al-Aqsa mosque cannot be exaggerated. The storming of the mosque by disgusting settlers and politicians could give way to a third intifada.

LondonGirl33 · 19/11/2014 08:25

Xenophobia? You might need to check the description of that word Yruapita

Do you deny what's happening in the rest of the world then? Is it only important when you can blame Israel?

Pah.

QnBoudi · 19/11/2014 08:26

Interesting response from netanyahu. Do we think the soldiers who blew up the boys on the beach will have their (family) homes demolished? Not even if (and this won't happen, let's face it!) that 'investigation' finds them guilty! www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Conflict/Netanyahu-orders-demolition-of-terrorists-homes-after-synagogue-attack-382155
More collective punishment. More disproportionate responses. More apartheid behaviour. That monster of a man is getting away with murder. Siiiiiiiiick.

LondonGirl33 · 19/11/2014 10:02
Yruapita · 19/11/2014 12:09

Nutty yahu can demolish every Palestinian home, he cannot however stop Palestinians seeking vengeance for all the injustices and apartheid they have endured.

I honestly dont know how anyone can be proud of all the terror inflicted on Palestinians in Israel's name.

The apartheid suffered by Palestinians is far worse than what was suffered by blacks in South Africa. This is what the black south africans are saying. South African government has frequently drawn parallels between Israel's actions and those of the south african apartheid regime.

Yruapita · 19/11/2014 12:16

Desmond Tutu wrote in an open letter in2010

“I have been to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and I have witnessed the racially segregated roads and housing that reminded me so much of the conditions we experienced in South Africa under the racist system of Apartheid. I have witnessed the humiliation of Palestinian men, women, and children made to wait hours at Israeli military checkpoints routinely when trying to make the most basic of trips to visit relatives or attend school or college, and this humiliation is familiar to me and the many black South Africans who were corralled and regularly insulted by the security forces of the Apartheid government.”

Yruapita · 19/11/2014 12:21

It is worth noting how South Africa, despite all the injustices suffered by blacks stands and says that Palestine has it worse than they ever did. On the contrary, Israel on the other hand bangs on about how nobody has had it worse than Israel. Nobody.

stop taking offence when people use perfectly acceptable descriptions such as " the Muslims" or "the Christians" or "the Druze"etc

It's just a sloppy and childish way if attempting to stifle debate and to smear the person who posted this.

Islamophobia is misnomer. It means fear. In the context in which it is normally used I would say that 'hate' is more appropriate description than fear in which case it should be Misoislam.

Just bring pedantic

TheHoneyBadger · 19/11/2014 16:07

no it isn't sloppy or childish - to say the jews ARE or the muslims ARE or the gays are or the africans are etc followed by a negative pronouncment upon the whole of said people is racism.

to point it out is not childish. would pointing out racism towards people of african descent be childish in your opinion? is pointing out homophobia and sexism childish?

it was a flagrantly prejudiced and hateful post - of course it should be called upon.

QnBoudi · 19/11/2014 23:50

That 'perfectly acceptable description' of muslims now seems to have been removed from the thread, thankfully.

The problem with Ari Lesser's rant about hypocrisy is that it's undisguised 'whataboutery'. If you followed his supposed logic, you'd end up saying 'let's just ignore it then, cos we can't fix everything.'

That injustice abounds worldwide does not negate the fact that Israel is acting as a terrorist state - knowingly, if not even deliberately - treating Palestinians abominably. Why is not entirely clear (to me at least), but the posts of its supporters and the actions and statements of its government indicate that it's on account of a deep-seated anti Arab racism and/or an extremist religious fundamentalism. That can never be excused, no matter how many other horrors exist elsewhere.

It's a real shame that people such as Lesser don't use their creativity to generate positive action inside of israel instead of simply deflecting attention from the self evident injustice perpetrated in its name.
