As many people have asked about Syria, I'm pleased to say that a new discussion on that subject has been started (by another poster here.

I'm going to attend my MPs surgery next week to convey my opinions next week. Do you think if people massed turned up at surgeries they would feel more personal pressure to make the government condemn Israel?

stepford i have just emailed my MP asking for a recall of parliament. If it helps to attend my MP's surgery, then i shall do that too. Though the website says no surgeries in August - can that be right?

backinthering it probably is true unfortunately. We have been watching them ethnically cleanse Gaza so far.

I asked my Israeli family about that article Backinthering. They said that this guy is in Likud despite strong opposition from Netanyahu. They do not agree on policy.

Yruapita I am quite suprised that mine has one but I think it's worth having a look. I just think it's harder to fob people off in person than over the phone

That's good to hear AndHarry - both your MP's response and that the craziness of that article is not supported. The ordinary Israelis are the key to all this. I am just hoping that they are seeing the information available on the Internet like tonight's Daily Mail pics for example. I just hope this terrible suffering touches them and makes them start to feel angry at what is being done in their name to apparently keep them safe. It is so depressing that this was all so unnecessary - not at all about keeping anyone safe but maybe about money and gas.

AndHarry thanks for checking that - I'm glad to hear that's just one guy's horrible idea and not policy but it does worry me that so many people with very extreme ideas seem to be in government.

I'm sorry but are all you women so sleep deprived that you're struggling to differentiate between good and evil? Hamas is a terrorist organisation! They are not freedoms fighters looking to free Gaza. They're only reason for existence is to annihilate the state of Israel. They are no better than ISIS or Al-Quida. They are the same as those who blew up the tube on July 7th. They are the same as those who blew up the planes in 9/11. You are all clueless about what it's like to live under the threat of terror based on religion alone. I hope you never have to feel what it feels like so until then, I suggest you a make a lot less sweeping statements and LISTEN! Ask questions, try to understand BOTH sides. I want to see you ladies live one day with a rocket fired over your home with your children in tow. Now how about 13000 rockets? You'd all have a nervous breakdown and move to Spain. A bit more humility would do all of you a lot of good. And before anyone uses big words like ethni cleansing, genocide and apartheid - please look them up in a dictionary first. Thank you.

I'm following Naomi Wolf too. She is brilliant and has friends and journos on the ground in Gaza.

News is emerging that the US are 'appalled' at the disgraceful shelling of the UN school. Finally some condemnation. But it's worth nothing now. Obama and Cameron cam never reverse the damage to their characters.

Wikileaks are also reporting that the US knew israel was trying to disable the health sector in Gaza and did nothing to stop it. It's all coming out now.

The school was not shelled, it was the houses around it where rockets were fired (96 today alone!) from 4 difference adjacent buildings.
Also, if Israel wanted to hurt the health sector it wouldn't have transferred tons of medicines and helped Palestinian patients.
and if you want to discuss the health sector you might want to ask has why are their headquarters based in the al-Shifa hospital on Gaza city?
And finally news is emerging from foreign journalists that Hamas is intimidating them and not allowing them to report accurately from within Gaza especially anything against Hamas so you might want to take the information with a pinch of salt.

Aljezeera is much more informative and factual than the BBC so worth watching that for news, .their journalists are in Gaza and many of the images are very hard to watch, although we must.

I really really would like to think that world leaders are realising that us joe public want some form of action such as sanctions but sadly I feel we may have a long wait.

Israel have once again got away with it. If we feel so enraged and appalled, how much worse for the people living the nightmare. I can't do links on here but there is an Australian documentary on Youtube about how the Israeli military seizes, tortures and tries Palestinian children in military courts. The human rights violations are off the scale.

I really wish that the people of Israel could find an ounce of humanity within themselves.

How can Israel maintain that this is a was when the people of Gaza have no army and the casualties in this 'war' are innocent citizens 1 in 4 children?
