Here goes....

OP posts:
saadia · 31/07/2006 17:16

expat ever noticed how you avoid answering questions? Where exactly is the anti-Semitism?

Uwila · 31/07/2006 17:20

DC,
Oh it is so true. "Dick" "Head" and "John Cleese": can't get them out of my head.

If you think I'm a fan of holistic medicine, troll through the nanny threads for posts by me on "vodka socks".

And since you've copped that condecending attitude, let me reveal the extent of your superior intelligence:

Dominiconnor on where best to store nuclear waste:

"We need a gas & water tight store that will last for tens of thousands, and possibly millions of years.

We have plenty of those, they're called oil wells.
They are known to be sealed, since they liquids and gases are volatile and would have evaporated long ago if they weren't. "

So, he wanted to store nuclear waste in disused oil (or preferably gas) wells. This is an utterly rediculous idea. The very premise of his ingenius idea (that oil and gas wells are known to be sealed) is simply not true.

LucyJu · 31/07/2006 17:24

Really got to go now..
But first, Expat and/or lisalisa , please find a specific incidence of what you see as an anti-semitic sentiment on this thread.
Having lived in Britain for most of my life, I can honestly say I have never heard anyone make an anti-Semitic comment. Racist comments, yes. Anti-Israel comments, yes. Anti-US, yes. Anti-UK government, yes. Anti-semitic, never.

noddyholder · 31/07/2006 17:35

Anti semitism?Where?

saadia · 31/07/2006 17:53

If anything there have been more obnoxious comments about Muslims and Catholics on this thread than there have about Jews.

SenoraPostrophe · 31/07/2006 17:59

@ uwila.

I have to say that the lazy stereotyping on this thread (American=Bushite neo-con warmonger) is unfair. and in the context of the debate at hand, it is ironic. If Hizbullah could stop thinking that Israeli=evil and if the Israelis stopped thinking that Arab=terorist then we wouldn't have a problem would we?

mimoyello · 31/07/2006 18:00

I hate Jews = anti-semitic comment

I hate Zionism and it's offspring the Israeli Government = political comment

Even my 2 year old is able to distinguish between these 2 fundamentally different comments.

mimoyello · 31/07/2006 18:10

Lets' give you another lazy stereotype:

The PROPORTION of the American electorate who voted for Bush ARE: Pro-Jewish Lobby, Neo-Con, Extreme Right, Fundamentalist Christian, anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-liberal, anti-humanity, anti-Arab, very racist, pro-Bu-shites (especially the Shites bit !!)

Many also live in Texas and are too fat to move out of their armchairs to go and buy a quality international newspaper or to nip down to their local library to get a decent history book, which pretty much explains everything, doesn't it ??? and that's just the ones who can actually READ !

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 31/07/2006 18:23

Sorry but that's unacceptable. I dislike Bush politics as much as anyone but racist stereotyping is WRONG (yes I meant to shout) and surely the whole point of a democracy is that ALL the citizens of a country get a vote... or is it just quality paper reading library goers now?

Uwila · 31/07/2006 20:09

Actually peachy, about half of the eligible voters actually vote. But, the way I see it is if they can't be bothered to vote, then they only have themselves to blame if they don't like the leaders other people voted for.

mimoyello · 31/07/2006 20:09

In this day and age, with Bush and Blair on the loose killing babies and the word "liberal" a dirty word in America, I make no apology for taking the piss out of Bush voters.

As far as I am concerned there is no difference between blowing up innocent people on the London underground because you think they support Blair or killing innocent children sheltering in a building in Lebanon under the pretext that Hezbollah is hiding in the basement.

I am sick to the stomach of seeing children dying on my tv screen and then being lectured on how I sound anti-American.

It is America that supports and arms Israel and our Blair Govt. that supplies the US with convenient airports to facilitate the passage of bombs to Israel and it is they also who have created mayhem in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Do you need any more evidence of murderers hiding behind the word "democracy" ?

Uwila · 31/07/2006 20:19

Mimo, I think you have desribed the European stereotype of a Bush voter. And I think it's quite an unrealistic take on the situation.

I voted for Bush... twice.

I am not in a Pro-Jewish Lobby
I am not Extreme Right (well, perhaps relative to the average MNer)
I am not a Fundamentalist Christian
I am not anti-abortion
I am not anti-gay
I am not anti-humanity
I am not anti-Arab
I am not very racist
And I might be a pro-Bu-shite
And i am certainly anti-liberal

doobydoo · 31/07/2006 20:43

mimoyellow.IMO you have hit the nail on the head

FairyMum · 31/07/2006 20:46

IMO too mimoyello. Too scared of writing anything myself as too , and

saadia · 31/07/2006 20:49

I do agree that Bush and Blair have blood on their hands.

mimoyello · 31/07/2006 21:53

Uwila - I don't think what I say about Bush is a purely European anti-American stereotype, it is a relatively accurate profile of the average Bush voter, simplistic as it may look, it is also true.

You admit to being "anti-liberal" is that why you voted for him ?

Or did you vote for him for another reason altogether ? I would be interested to know why you voted for him if you care to tell me.

By the way, my list includes those who voted for him because of his bogus "war on terror" post 9/11, are you one of those ?

ruty · 31/07/2006 21:59

i am gobsmacked and absolutely incensed by the air strikes killing 38 children. I can't begin to understand the mentality of the world's politicians anymore, why no one is DEMANDING a ceasefire immediately. How many more Lebanese children have to die? I am really scared about retaliation in the UK too - Blair has let us down beyond belief, allowing weapons sent by USA to Israel to pass through UK airports. Does Blair not imagine his own child being a victim in such a situation and how it must tear the heart out of every mother and father in Lebanon who loses theirs? I have never felt so afraid about the state of the world before. Sorry to be so over emotive but I just couldn't bear the photos on the front pages of the newspaper today - I just cried looking at them.

ruty · 31/07/2006 22:02

i would also like to know why you voted for Bush Uwila - I am finding it impossible to think of a reason why anyone would, if they were not a lunatic evangelical.
What has he done for the USA exactly? What has he done [in your opinion] for the world? Not an attack, genuinely interested, and baffled.

mimoyello · 31/07/2006 22:08

I saw the bombing yesterday with the corpses of children being carried out and the photo on the pages of the papers today and cried. All I could think about was my beautiful son and how these stupid bastards (B&B) have made every country in the world the playground of terrorists. Hizbollah, Hamas, Al Quaida...they will go from strength to strength because of these fools and their unwillingness to deal with Israel's barbarity.

They learn NOTHING from history.

Kiskidee · 31/07/2006 22:17

Forgive me if this has been mentioned already. I haven't read either of the threads on this topic - only scanned the last 50 or so posts.

Has anyone yet mentioned that this goings on in Lebanon is the US at war by proxy? It is convenient for Israel to carry out the wishes of the US. Likewise this war is less about Hizbollah and more about Syria and Iran.

fistfullofnappies · 31/07/2006 22:19

uwila, what do you class as extreme right?
There are very few extreme right wing things that the bush govt hasnt done. But they mostly do them to foreigners.

I dont mean to sound accusing, but am interested to know how a bush voter perceives the difference between Bush and extreme right.

There is some grafitti that I am seeing increasingly written everywhere, it is very short, just USA, but the S is a swastika.

mimoyello · 31/07/2006 22:21

KK - very good - Lebanon has had blood on it's soil many times before - it is the equivalent of the Spanish Civil War - other countries washing their dirty laundry there because it is convenient to do so and killing plenty of civilans in the process.

doobydoo · 31/07/2006 22:28

I did mention that KK on Part 1 of the thread but a few people accused me of being a Conspiracy Theorist!

Kiskidee · 31/07/2006 22:31

whoever thinks its a conspiracy theory needs to read a bit deeper.

Heathcliffscathy · 31/07/2006 23:25

uwila i lost all faith in you a long long time ago. (although, i have to confess to a sneaking suspicion that IRL i would like you a lot...i'm sure you can't confess the same)

expat, what are you on? i have to say i'm so shocked by how you are on this thread. you have continually evaded any questioning of your stance and come out with some real drivel (how on EARTH can you have a debate without making some generalisations...come on!)
