and apparently Beck is a scientologist! Shock

PinkTulips · 30/03/2006 10:56

beck doesn't surprise me really, and as for KH, i have a great difficulty feeling sorry for her, she got herself into this.

i mean lets face it how many people truely believe she sees anything in TC other than wads of cash and increased media coverage? it's the child i feel for, KH can divorce TC hen it gets too much for her but that child is stuck with him as his dad for life, and knowing the american courts he'll get a very generous custody agreement just because he is who he is.

expatinscotland · 30/03/2006 11:04

Beck's always been weirdy.

Kirstie Alley is also a scientologist.

ruty · 30/03/2006 11:06

exactly who looks after the baby in the 7 day separation? And i suppose it will be bottle fed? And this man thinks he knows something about post natal depression...aaaargh.

ruty · 30/03/2006 11:07

sorry not trying to imply a woman who choosed to bottle feed will have PND - just breastfeeding is very good for bonding and as for the separation thing it makes me very worried.

milward · 30/03/2006 11:08

What do they say about breastfeeding?

bundle · 30/03/2006 11:08

can't be that positive, milward, if you're expected to be separated from your newborn for 7 days...Sad

milward · 30/03/2006 11:14

goodness bundle!!! - was thinking about getting sore nipples & the mum feeling pain but not being able to transmit this (or whatever)

PinkTulips · 30/03/2006 11:15

god i can't imagine not having my baby there after birth, personally seeing my beautiful little baby was what made the aftermath of the birth worthwhile and bearable for me. can't imagine there are many moms who wouldn't feel that way

NotQuiteCockney · 30/03/2006 11:17

You're all being very engramic here, I'm afraid. I hope none of you are exposing your unborn children to this sort of engramic talk!

NotQuiteCockney · 30/03/2006 11:18

Oh, and Hubbard is anti-bf. \link{http://members.chello.nl/mgormez/childabuse/barley.html\Rather disturbing link}.

NotQuiteCockney · 30/03/2006 11:20

Here is an official quote from Hubbard re: bf:

Breast feeding babies may have a nostalgic background, particularly to a Freudian oriented medico, but real breast milk again is usually a poor ration. Modern mothers smoke and sometimes drink. Smoking makes the milk very musty. Anyway, a nervous modern mother just can't deliver the right ration. Maybe it's the pace of the times or the breed, but there are few modern Guernsey-type mothers. So even without drinking or smoking, one should forget breast feeding.
...

The foremost reason a baby doesn't do well is poor rations. And to remedy that, here is a formula one can use:

15 ounces of barley water
10 ounces of homogenized milk
3 ounces of corn syrup (As the Romans had honey, 2 ounces of honey may be used instead of corn syrup, if desired. Do not use lactose [a sugar found in milk, used in infant foods] as a substitute.) The amount of syrup should be varied - depending on the baby - some like it weak - some take it stronger.

milward · 30/03/2006 11:21

gosh!!! never knew this

ruty · 30/03/2006 11:22

now i feel quite angry about this.

Callisto · 30/03/2006 11:22

That has made me feel quite sick NCQ - those poor babies. And what does "From the cradle the children are punished." mean? Surely this is child abuse?

expatinscotland · 30/03/2006 11:23
Shock

Is this for real, NQC?

People actually believe that kind of bulls^%t and still consider themselves semi-intelligent?

I like the Dr. Michael Odent take on breastfeeding: that we are forming our child's future tastes in food. YES! All the more reason for me to eat quality food - I'm forming my child's palette, here!

fuzzywuzzy · 30/03/2006 11:26

OMG nononono she can't put her baby through that, they don't even allow formula??? What's the mortality rate for baby's born to sceintology parents??? And for Gods sake, corn syrup, or honey?!? Honey for a newborn have they never heard of botulism (sp?)

John Travolta's wife, didn't do the quiet birth thing, she was rushed to hospital, I remember reading about it, she admitted it when it came to light she was advising KH on her silent birth.....

NotQuiteCockney · 30/03/2006 11:27

EIS, I've found references to the barley water formula on a range of sites.

The punishment stuff sounds possibly apocryphal, it's hard to tell. The anti-scientology sites out there are so so so angry (who can blame them?) that they all sound a bit bonkers, I'm afraid.

NotQuiteCockney · 30/03/2006 11:28

Oh, the honey is ok, apparently, because the Romans used honey. He got the formula from them. (Yes, he was around in Roman times, of course.)

(I don't totally bother with the no-honey-before-a-year thing, but honey at birth would be too much for me, to put it mildly.)

bundle · 30/03/2006 11:29

'kin 'ell!

that's really sinking to new depths...Sad

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 30/03/2006 11:29

Yeah, but corn syrup? Honey?!

He sounds a bit misogynist, this L Ron freak.

Poor 'rations'? Huh? That's not even convincingly worded.

Yet people believe that?

How the f&^k do they think the human species survived as a whole before formula milk was introduced?

NotQuiteCockney · 30/03/2006 11:29

Oh, are we pretending here, that we really believe KH is actually pregnant? Or do we still think she's faking it? (I hope, for her sake, that she's faking it. Although I fear for whatever baby they're going to get ahold of to mistreat. Well, I fear for any baby in the clutches of these folks, now.)

bundle · 30/03/2006 11:30

breastmilk - "usually a poor ration"..try telling that to the people who produce mountains of research showing it reduces the incidence of gastroenteritis, respiratory admissions to hospital(up to age 7) etc etc.. Angry

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 30/03/2006 11:31

Oh, people did used to make their own formula. That's why it's called formula, you had a formula to work from. And it normally involved boiling milk, and adding some sugar (I think).

Dunno what's up with the barley water. Not even sure what barley water is.

Callisto · 30/03/2006 11:32

Didn't realise she may not be pregnant (very much hope she isn't). This stuff is sickening, I had no idea how sinister scientology is.
