George Galloway - insertion not rape

Just read a tweet where it is suggested former MP George Galloway feels that once a woman decides to have a sex with a men he can have sex with her subsequently, while she sleeps, as the man doesn't need consent for each "insertion"! In his view, this does not constitute rape. WTF! This is his defence of the allegations against Assange.

As if the whole Assange situation could depress me further.

I'm just depressed about how many seem to agree with him based on the comments below the articles.

The irony hasn't escaped me though , that on the relationships section earlier today, a woman posted asking about how you know it's ok to initiate penetration when on top of a man.

Most of the responses were along the lines of 'don't ask, just do it' and one poster even said 'just get on with it while he's lying there- most men are lazy fuckers anyway'

No they don't. My husband is a decent man, he is every bit as appalled by GG's comments as I am.

I haven't misunderstood. I don't agree that men all get labelled as bastards. I don't know anyone who generalises in that way.

I've never liked that man, ever. It's a sad sad reflection on democracy that such an utter (I don't know, sometimes there aren't enough insults in the world) can be repeatedly elected.

Joyful, it would not be reasonable for a man to argue that a sleeping woman had consented to sex. It isn't just his belief, it is his reasonable belief .

Janey, I think you are misrepresenting that thread somewhat, OP was asking for advice and plenty of posters were suggesting slow build-ups etc. the "lazy fucker - in both senses of the word" sentence was at the end of such a post and I believe it had a smiley. But if you feel it was inappropriate, do report it on the thread in question and I'm sure MNHQ will review.
