Edward and Sophie's baby

Anyone else think its a bit odd that mother and baby still haven't been reunited. Apparently the baby was delivered by c-section on Saturday and Sophie still hasn't been to St George's to see her, despite the press saying that both mother and daughter are doing well. If mother is doing well, why haven't they transferred her to George's to be near her daughter, or vice versa. All a bit strange....

What a boring set of names! If you're going to bother inflicting 4 names on someone surely one should be a little bit "out there"? Nobody should be offended 'cos I've got 2 of the babe's names myself and DD has Elisabeth as a middle name (but note the S to make it more interesting). Also, I think louise sounds a bit dated (sorry!!) Louisa seems a bit more current, whereas Louise sounds like it should have stayed in the '80s.

Just an observation, please don't be upset.

Ghosty · 26/11/2003 18:46

I object too ... I don't see at all how Louise is a common name ...
My mum is called Louise and I like Louisa for my baby if it is a girl ...

lou33 · 26/11/2003 18:48

I think the problem is, that they have to follow tradition and call her something from the family history. I would find it a pita having others dictating what to call my children, so they have gone as alternative as they can by calling her Louise, instead of Elizabeth or Victoria. They have to get the ok from the queen about names don't they?

LIZS · 26/11/2003 18:51

marialuisa,

ditto on the "s". I thought it a curse as a child in UK, always having to correct teachers and so on, but now I'm in Europe it is so much easier. Ironic as I now abbreviate to a "z"

marialuisa · 26/11/2003 18:53

So how come Princess Anne got away with Zara and Peter? Neither are royal names.
Yuck, i bet my MIL would've called DD something truly vile and "alternative", she managed to make her sons' lives hell. Their sweetest revenge is that 2 of the names are very popular now, i think 1 is the most popular boy's name in the coountry

lou33 · 26/11/2003 18:55

No idea Marialuisa. I'm sure they had to get it ok'd though. I prefer Louise to Zara anyway.

Angeliz · 26/11/2003 18:58

my dd is 2 of those names!......copycatsObviously i like it, Louise doesn't sound very Royal though does it?

janh · 26/11/2003 19:08

P Anne is Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise (pls don't ask me how I know that!) so they didn't go far.

lou33 · 26/11/2003 19:11

I dunno Angeliz, I'm always being told I am posh !

Tinker · 26/11/2003 19:15

One of Victoria's daughter's was Louise so deffo a royal name. It's one of Princess Ann's middle names as well.

Tinker · 26/11/2003 19:22

Hope SenoraPostrophe doesn't read that last post

tallulah · 26/11/2003 20:00

I'm with marialuisa on this one- why 4 names when they are so boring? (wouldn't 2 have been enough?)

SenoraPostrophe · 26/11/2003 20:15

Tinker, how could you?

But I quite like the name. The more names you have, the posher you are, obviously. I've now decided that ds will be Lucas William Ignacio Darth Windpipe. What d'ya think?

aloha · 26/11/2003 21:08

I think it's a great idea to give someone a 'dated' name as it means you won't be able to date the person by their name - eg if you are called Shirley or Edna you can tell they are old or middle aged, and in the future Chloe and Emma will be just the same IMO. And poss my own son's name too My name was very unfashionable and odd when I was named, but I love it now because it's young and hip even if I'm not. I was going to be called Chloe, but in 1963 that was considered freakishly dated and comical...

I like Louise. I also like Lulu as a diminutive. Or Lulie

Angeliz · 26/11/2003 21:14

i actually like the name Louise, it just doesn't sound posh enough! ( you must BE posh..talk posh like!) My dd has 3 names as we wanted to include my mams name so i guess she will be posh by this thread!

oliveoil · 27/11/2003 09:52

I think Louise is a fantastic name all the best people are called Louise and are all stunners with fantastic figures and lives. Ahem.

suedonim · 27/11/2003 10:49

That's a good point Aloha. We gave dd1 a name which no one had ever heard before and which we'd been saving up for 12years. It then appeared in the Mothercare book of names and it shot up the name charts, curse them! But a friend pointed out to me that when dd is older she'll be able to knock about 10yrs off her age and no one will ask any questions.

Marialuisa, to answer your qestion re Zara and Peter, they are not royal, P.Anne decided to bring them up as commoners, so guess she could choose whatever names she fancied.

lou33 · 27/11/2003 11:20

Olive.

Sonnet · 27/11/2003 11:20

LOL Northerner....is she speaking to you now??

LIZS · 27/11/2003 11:30

Does Louise bear a courtesy title as the daughter of a Count ie. can she be Lady Louise even without an HRH. P. Anne's kids were born as commoners (by her choice) and as I remember it could not as she became Princess Royal much later.

Northerner · 27/11/2003 11:34

Sonnet - not really no. I think I really upset her. She is rather melodramatic though IYKWIM!

lou33 · 27/11/2003 11:43

It said on the news she is being known as Lady Louise Windsor.

suedonim · 27/11/2003 13:11

I don't understand the princess/lady etc bit at all. Why are Andrew's girls 'Princess' but Edward's new addition is 'Lady'. Was it a conscious decision of Andrew/Fergie to have the title princess? Or is it because Andrew is also a duke? And why isn't Edward a duke? Or is he, but no one told me?? I'm confused!!
