Edward and Sophie's baby

Anyone else think its a bit odd that mother and baby still haven't been reunited. Apparently the baby was delivered by c-section on Saturday and Sophie still hasn't been to St George's to see her, despite the press saying that both mother and daughter are doing well. If mother is doing well, why haven't they transferred her to George's to be near her daughter, or vice versa. All a bit strange....

Sofia - it might be an idea to get you post deleted. Maybe? Just that you're not so anonymous. Just a thought.

She told the story like it was common knowledge among the medical community. The other doctors at the table (none in paediatrics) seemed to all know the story. She didn't ask anyone not to say anything, so I didn't get the impression that I was being told something that wasn't relatively public knowledge. I suppose there is a difference between something not being a secret and actually going to the papers with it. Anyway, I'm off to america for 6 weeks tomorrow am, so I don't have time to do anything.

Clarinet60 · 24/11/2003 23:49

It could just be the way that doctors talk to colleagues. very bad though.

SofiaAmes · 25/11/2003 02:16

yes, actually it was told in the context of a story about a colleague and it was somewhat irrelevant that the patients were sophie and her baby. It was prompted by a question from me regarding genetic predisposition to miscarriage with regard to my cousin and perhaps my lack of interest in the royal family meant that she wasn't guarded in telling the story.
ok now i really am going to bed, having finally finished packing.

JanH

Funny I also had a sudden feeling about Alice a few nights back! There was a Princess Alice a few generations back so not completely out of keeping. Otherwise I thought may be Alexandra. Has the Queen seen the baby yet ?

janh · 25/11/2003 09:14

Well I had a flash like that for Beatrice before she was named - didn't put a bet on then, maybe I should now! (Although I can imagine Ed wouldn't want to appear to be copying his big brother so maybe not.)

Beatrice and Alice were both daughters of Victoria though there was another Princess Alice more recently. (Blimey - just googled P Alice, she is the Dowager Duchess of Gloucester and is apparently still alive at the age of 102!!! She's another of those long-lived posh Scots like the Queen Mother.) It's also one of P. Anne's names.

janh · 25/11/2003 09:24

A-ha - Prince Philip's mother was Princess Alice too (a Battenberg) - I had a feeling she was but she used to be referred to as Princess Andrew for some arcane reason. She was Lord Mountbatten's sister.

suedonim · 25/11/2003 11:35

Apparently, the Queen and P Philip went to Frimley Park Hosp to see Sophie and the baby.

naughtynoonoo · 26/11/2003 16:09

The Earl and Countess of Wessex have named their daughter Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary Mountbatten-Windsor, Buckingham Palace has announced.

butterflymum · 26/11/2003 16:09

....it's Louise!

lou33 · 26/11/2003 16:17

They have obviously been inspired by what a fantastic person I am .

What good taste

Boot1 · 26/11/2003 16:34

I wonder will she be called Lou, Lou Lou or will it always be Louise.

Northerner · 26/11/2003 16:36

Sophie is ovbiously a stenders fan!

Northerner · 26/11/2003 16:48

S**t. I've just announced this at the top of my voice in the office, adding 'how common'. Forgetting we have a Louise in the office who is now very offended.

fio2 · 26/11/2003 17:16

Louise is NOT common it is the female form of my sons name. But it is also the name of my Dads sl*g....

well done janh Alice was in there after all

fio2 · 26/11/2003 17:17

my gran guessed it would be Alice Elizabeth Mary Sophie (so she wasnt that wrong!!)

CountessDracula · 26/11/2003 17:19

Thanks god I thought it might be Louisa (my dd's name) and was filled with horror at the thought of it being royal baby's name.

I think Louise is nice.

Better than Beatrice or Eugenie (vom)

codswallop · 26/11/2003 18:10

I am sure I read it was alice...

tinyfeet · 26/11/2003 18:12

Will they call her Louise or something else - nickname?

codswallop · 26/11/2003 18:14

Lou Beale!!

tiny feet lets change yur name too - hop on the other thread

suedonim · 26/11/2003 18:34

I'm feeling most offended by some of these comments on names....

CnR · 26/11/2003 18:35

As royal names go I do quite like this combination. Louise is my middle name anyway - so bject to the common comment!!!

lou33 · 26/11/2003 18:37

Yeh me too, I like my name!
