How was Dora and Diego?

TO DO
Get off Mumsnet

JustKeepSwimming · 13/08/2009 15:08

It was good thanks, but weird. we got there and there was a massive queue for nothing very much, we were very at the people queuing for seemed to be a face painting table and a colouring-in table.

Then Dora & Diego arrived and the reason became clear, they all got to go into the enclosure and get their photos taken with D&D.
we just stood to one side and looked at them, and waved at them and that seemed to be enough!

Sportacus & Stephanie next week for 20mins only - not sure if we'll bother, esp as we have tickets for Lazytown next weekend.

alicecrail · 13/08/2009 16:46

Just popping on to say hi to you all

Plum i hope everything goes well today

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/08/2009 16:59

Hi Alice

Plum - hope today has gone ok for DD.

Peppa - you are doing well today!

JKS - did DS2 go out with you for lunch?

Right I am officially a disaster. It's nearly 5pm, I've done feck all today and I'm still in my pjs. I am exhausted but can't sleep at night. I need to go back to the Dr - this problem is not going away.
DH is being a bloody superstar, he's working at home today and has dealt with DS, put washing on, sorted out the kitchen as well as done a full day's work. I feel like I'm letting him and DS down so badly . Really hoping that some of this is down to the fact that all th structure has gone out of our week due to everything stopping for the holidays. Another 2 weeks and then it is back to swimming and music with mummy - I am so looking forward to it!

Mini list
Fold clean washing - done
Make lunch - done
Hoover living room - done
Empty bathroom bin
Put potatoes in the oven for dinner
Have a shower and wash hair
Dinner x 3
DS bath and bed
Watch a film with DH?
Sleep - hopefully.

Don't worry Ali it is only temporary. Is there anything else you can do instead? It's a shame we are not closer (like the same part of the country) I have found that meeting up with friends, especially ones that have had kids of their own, is the only thing that is keeping me sane at the moment. Write today off, and start again tomorrow

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/08/2009 17:16

Alice we have been doing stuff, but more ad hoc rather than on a schedule IYKWIM? My depression seems to be manifesting itself as a need for me to be very organised or else I feel like crap. If things are not in the normal routine I get all twitchy and then things don't get done. God I'm really disturbing myself now!
My best mummy friend who lives round here is away at the moment and I'm really missing her - we get on so well, and so do DS and her DD. It's lovely and relaxed. All my friends from Uni etc live further away (like 2/3 hours), so seeing them is a weekend trip and I am the only SAHM among us as well.

Tomorrow I will have to be better as DH is going into London on the 7:15 train and not back until 8pm.

OP posts:
cikecaka · 13/08/2009 17:55

ALI, what you have described is very much like what I am going through at the minute. Think everything that happened with my DS at the start of the summer is beginning to affect me now Think its why I suddenly need to have a perfect house

Went to visit SIL with new baby this afternoon, was passing a friends house and seen another friend was there, I was like a 4 year old feelin jealous WTF.

TO DO
Tidy up after tea
Load Dishwasher and set it going
Bath DD3
Clean Main Bathroom
Tidy sitting room
Hoover

Have SIL 5 kids tomorrow (her with the perfect house) so will need to be up early to have everything tidy

alicecrail · 13/08/2009 18:42

You are both describing how i'm feeling at the moment. I am feeling left out from all my 'young' childless friends and my friends that have children have their own lives so it is all about organising weeks ahead. I'm starting to feel invisible. I'm like this unimportant person that provides childcare and picks up after everyone (housework, my friends crisis, family problems) and i am starting to feel like i might explode. I am trying to stay away from MN too, because on any other thread i get ignored, which totally pathetic though it may seem, at the moment is just about the last straw. Whatever problem/good news etc that you want to share, someone is always one up on you, so that kind of belittles your 'thing' and makes you feel 10 times worse.

alicecrail · 13/08/2009 18:43

Sorry, you must all think i am cracking up! And TBH, i almost feel like i am please ignore outburst

cikecaka · 13/08/2009 18:52

then we must be cracking up together AC, because everything you say makes sense, even down to the fact it takes someone a while to reply on this thread sometimes annoys me! How sad am I????

alicecrail · 13/08/2009 19:01

Thank god!!

Obviously i am not glad that you feel like this, but i am glad that i am not the only one iyswim?

At the moment i think it is actually depression kicking in and i am desperately trying to keep it away. Doesn't seem to be working though i feel like Jekyll and Hyde. I am really really upset with DH because he has been out twice this week and i haven't been out for months and because i saw a piece of furniture today that i have fallen in love with and he hates it. I always seem to compromise, but sometimes i don't want to!

cikecaka · 13/08/2009 19:13

Joys of motherhood I call it, DH can put his coat and walk out to the pub whenever he feels like it (must add doesnt do it very often)where as I would have to be organising everyones clothes, food etc. I really can feel resentful sometimes, recently its to do with him going to work because he gets to be away from the house! Must add that I dont want to go back to work, I love (most of the time) being at home to hear about the kids day but our day is so routined that nobody likes it when it is disrupted.

I have decided that the 1st of september is the start of the change in my life!! DD3 will be going to toddler group 2 mornings a week and that I will finally be in some sort of a routine with the house. . Fingers Crossed

Hugs

Sorry for the long post, probably should be doing this in chat

JustKeepSwimming · 13/08/2009 19:25

Firstly - Ali, yes ds2 came with us, he had to eat lunch somewhere, so we woke him just before lunchtime, went into town, had a restaurant lunch (which was late by his timings as it took a while, and they weren't even busy, grr!), then he went in the backpack while we saw D&D, then home and straight to bed again. just about worked.

He's been really grumpy the last few days and i've been getting fed up with him just had a though, then a feel today and yes, a molar is coming through! bad mummy

Secondly (sort of!) - none of you are mad btw, we all feel these things! I remember the 'rising panic' i would feel with ds1 when dh would tell me about going away with work. i'm much better with 2 bizarrely but that is down to my routines. not sure i would cope as well if he went away in the (pre-) school holidays.

But saying all that....if you really feel that pnd is creeping in (take the test online) then it's best to address it asap and get back on course.

Meanwhile i haven't even managed to put one load of laundry on today
ah well there's always tomorrow....

alicecrail · 13/08/2009 19:31

Sod it! I doubt anyone will mind

I feel the same. I am so glad to be a sahm most of the time, but that doesn't mean i wouldn't like the odd day off occasionally. Or a night out, although the big problem there is that none of my childless friends invite me out anymore, and if i go out with them (the last time was before christmas) i feel like they are embaressing them. I tell myself that i wouldn't mind too much if i was in my late 30's and the majority of my friends have kids etc, but i think i would still feel a bit down about it) I am 24 and the only social life i have is going to stay and play on a wednesday morning!

I have actually got an interview tomorrow for the community parents programme which is a course they run for parents that will then do voluntary work helping other parents who feel a bit lost and overwhelmed - irony?

alicecrail · 13/08/2009 19:33

Sorry, should be:

Feel i am embarressing them

alicecrail · 13/08/2009 19:34

What test is that JKS?

JustKeepSwimming · 13/08/2009 19:48

this is one version, not sure if they are all the same - but should be the same as your HVs.
