Good morning fellow sorters, chuckers & sellers! Starting a new thread as No 12 was almost full. This thread is one of my favourites & I find it hugely inspiring. I have a very long way to go as my house still resembles a jumble sale but I have got rid of a lot over the last few months plus made some money into the bargain. Last night I transferred several carrier bags of clothes that are on Vinted into a pink velvet storage chest that, ironically, hadn’t been assembled & was taking up space in DH’s office 🤣🤣🤣 It’s now in front of the storage cubes in the lounge & honestly, the pleasure I get from seeing it & the space created is immense.
I need a day to dedicate to Vinted as I have bags of clothes still to photograph & upload, some clothes to try on which may end up on there too & some TJC rings to photograph for selling. They were quite expensive but I rarely wore them & now they’re too big. I have a huge car bill to pay so the extra pennies will be great. Have a productive day all!

A large skip load gone including rubble, several doors, two radiators and an ancient boiler.

No sales recently although we've had a bit of interest in some vintage items, so hopefully they'll go soon.

Binned two odd socks with holes

BatshitCrazyWoman · 27/07/2026 15:06

I listed the bedding on a local giveaway site, and dropped off the wheelie holdall to the charity shop this morning, along with two tops, a pair of shorts and a jigsaw.

IndianSummer78 · 27/07/2026 19:36

Worn out ballet flats
Work out slippers
Too small pyjamas set
Total is 5037

SydneyCarton · 28/07/2026 13:25

DP has had an unprompted (!) clearout of his clothing drawers and filled a carrier bag with stuff for the recycling bin, and half a bag for the charity shop. I've gone through some of my stuff that's waiting to be listed on Vinted and put some stuff that's unlikely to sell into the charity bag to fill it up. I sold a pair of kids sandals on Vinted last week and posted them straightaway as we were going off on holiday, but frustratingly the buyer hasn't picked them up yet and I suspect they'll be returned to me 🙄

LibertyLily · 28/07/2026 13:53

This morning I've been through the under bed storage (a super king ottoman lift up type, so perfect for 'losing' things!) where we keep spare bedding, throws...and my cushion stash.

I pulled out twelve cushions with feather pads that we no longer need. They'll be going to the car boot sale in the next week or so.

Unbelievably, there's still fifteen cushions in there I'm not prepared to part with. Obviously that doesn't include the twenty-three (!!!) dotted around the house. I confess to having a bit of a cushion obsession at one stage I had over eighty! 🙄😅

KatyMac · 28/07/2026 17:31

@LibertyLily how easy is it to lift the ottoman, ive been thinking about one

LibertyLily · 28/07/2026 22:18

Unfortunately it's not very easy @KatyMac, not helped by the fact it's a super king with a very weighty mattress 🙄 It's quite a workout for me to lift it! Years ago we had one with drawers, but that was fine when we had a huge bedroom with space to pull them out fully.....

KatyMac · 28/07/2026 22:24

Yes I did wonder im pretty disabled so drawers are no good and im guessing this isnt any better - thanks

RubySparrow · 28/07/2026 23:35

My nearest CH is closed for the holidays! I will have to find another! Put more bit and bobs in the bin!
Anyone sick of the rubbish Royal Mail deliver! I get more junk mail addressed to resident! Than I get real mail! They only seem to deliver if they are delivering the junk as well. One delivery a week, but sometimes two parcel delivery 🫣.
I pick it up now and it goes straight into the re cycle bin, might even use some of it to soak up the bin juices from my new food caddy! Even with compostable bags!

mutleyschuckles · 29/07/2026 08:09

Bin

  • Used up another hotel shampoo/conditioner
  • Old lunchbox
  • Pair of holey socks
  • Randomly itchy despite labels cut out vest top
Donated
  • Slip lead
  • Sofa throw blanket
  • Electric blanket
  • 8 x outgrown school shirts
Vinted
  • Ballerina crocs

I have had to buy a new school bag, 2x white shirts in the next size up & school shoes though as yesterday was payday- before it goes on summer holiday things

BatshitCrazyWoman · 29/07/2026 08:56

Got rid of some random bits and bobs of clothing yesterday - not worthy of the charity shop, so will put in the rag bag.

I had some interest in the barely used bedding on the church Facebook group, but then the woman said I was too far away to collect from (I'm not far from the church!). Might pop it on Olio.

It's going to be a really hot day here today, so I'm not sure how keen I'll be to sort through stuff!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 29/07/2026 14:43

Having an “up” day today & finally tackling all the piles & bagfuls of stuff to be uploaded on Vinted. Currently removing any sticky labels from shoes & cutting off the charity shop tags. Also need to go through the jewellery that I got in a job lot again to finally decide what to keep, what to upload & what to donate. Paid £12 so will easily make a profit as there are some lovely pieces. I bought a half size classical guitar in a case for £4 which is in pretty good condition & would be ideal for a beginner. Probably put that on FB Marketplace.

We finally reached the far corner of our loft (you have to crawl in it so it's always been really awkward) and dh was gleeful to find that the farthest 2 boxes were mine! I really thought I had done my old/sentimental stuff in 2024 but these were further past an old tennis set. I'm not sure if anyone remembers but my mum shipped my stuff from Csnada a few years back. One box seems to be books, the other random sentimental stuff like journals, travel guides, notebooks, photos, some clothing items etc.

I made a start today but only got half-way through the first box. From it, I got rid of:
5 pairs if socks (my mom has sent DOCKS across the Atlantic)
20 sentinentalish clothing items from high school etc that I'm happy to let go
2 picture frames
2 diploma folders
2 notebooks/journals
Kids wall calendar smd a bags of magnets (from dc room)

Total outs for the year= 1186
Total ins = 232

I'll try to fo the books tomorrow

Acheyelbows · 29/07/2026 16:12

Skip wasn't collected on time so added a few more bits to it.

  • 3 black sacks of bed linen
  • set of tv legs
  • old worn runners
  • broken plant pots and a plant tray
  • two very dirty empty tonne bags
  • tray of metal screws and nails
  • plastic sweet tubs that had held small items
  • wheelbarrow wheels

Scrap yard (1st run without a car being scrapped, not worth the journey moneywise)

  • cast iron garden table leg
  • cast iron sign arms v heavy
  • cast iron down spout
  • old radiator
  • assorted steel objects and tools

Recycling Centre

  • tonne bag of soiled solid wood (snuck out of back shed)
  • old x-box and controller
  • old lamp
  • battery powered toys
  • electrical decorations
  • old bulb
  • cable, broken extension leads, chargers, remotes
  • old jig saw
  • old modems and wires

All sticks broken down and put in brown bin along with four bags of green waste from weeding and rose bush trimming.

One Lego set fully packed 1,251 pieces and put up for sale with manual. No interest so far, may just box up similar Lego themes together and sell as an assorted tub as it takes a huge amount of time doing it in sets and there's so many more waiting.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 29/07/2026 20:17

Didn’t get as much done as I’d planned but some of my items were immediately favourited & I got an offer on a church ornament ( think it’s Lilliput Lane). Currently obsessed with Lilliput Lane but mustn’t buy too many items as they are very good dust collectors!

Sold a long Shein dress & a vintage cake tin on Vinted. The tin cost £2 at the charity shop & I sold it for £6 but reckon I could have got more. Starting to realise what sells & what takes longer to shift.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 30/07/2026 12:08

One bedding set collected.
One pair of jeans sold on Vinted.

I also renewed my car insurance (saved £130 on renewal price, plus I got £30 cash back), and found some old paperwork for shredding in the process.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 30/07/2026 14:04

Sold an Accessorise bag on Vinted.

I'm on leave this week and going through the attic boxes further this week. I think I will donate all the books and CDs in my boxes, bar a few which I want to reread or have very sentimental value. But there's tons of paper which I need to go through slowly.

Friends visited yesterday and brought dc a plushie which was a delight but it's also more ins on the toy side. My friend had also knitted lovely mittens which she kindly gifted dc, so that's 2 new ins.

More and more I realise that the key isn't actually decluttering; it's stemming the flow of things coming in. And it's harder. But decluttering will go on forever if the tide isn't stemmed.

Total ins for the year = 234

BatshitCrazyWoman · 31/07/2026 14:02

I think it's a bit of both @Pigtailsandall

Had a no show from Olio, she was supposed to be collecting the other bedding set. I quite liked Olio when it first started, and found everyone turned up when they said they would, but it's been a PITA lately. Anyway, I deleted the message with my address, reported her as a no show and blocked her. Bedding will go to the charity shop!
