Coin down the toilet

My 3 yo ds put a coin down the toilet. It has been there a few days now. We can't retrieve it as it is quite far back & under. I've been putting bleach in every day to see if that would help but it just looks like a permanent poo stain. Has anyone got any remedies? Has it happened to anyone else?! Please say it has 🙈

Just put your hand down and get it! Obviously put a glove on first. Once you’ve retrieved it, chuck it in the bin. The stain might be from dirt on the coin, so if it’s still bad once you’ve got the coin out and chucked it, keep the glove on and scrub off the stain.

Sorry I assumed that it was somehow stuck and Op HAD in fact reached in and tried to pick it up?

Admittedly I do have quite long arms, but I can definitely get mine a lot further round a U bend than my eyes can see. I'm a bit stumped how this is out of reach.

and after you pick it out with a glove, use acidic toilet cleaner like harpic to remove the stain. Bleach is alkaline

Yes it seems to be stuck, it's not moving. I thought the bleach & toilet brush would help move it and it might flush away 🙈

Sorry OP. With bleach you're actually making it worse!

If it's standard bleach, it reacts with the copper to make copper oxide (tarnish), so your poo stain will just get worse and worse.

A similar reaction happens with peroxide.

Hands have opposed thumbs and are designed to pick things up.

Toilet brushes do not have opposed thumbs and consequently aren't good at picking things up.

If its been flushed a time or two then little/no chance of getting poo on hands compared to changing a poonami nappy.

Get a flannel or kitchen towel (if you don’t think it will dissolve) and a bowl. Soak up the toilet water and squeeze it into the bowl. Repeat until there’s no water left. It may be easier to get. Also when you put chemicals on the stain it will be of higher concentration if you haven’t left the water in there so will work better.

So you have put your hand down there and it's somehow become stuck to the pan? It won't move at all? Or is it just the brush which won't move it?

pour some coke down, that will clean the coin so it will be less poo like
